Hello, welcome to a short walk around Tintern Abbey. This walk was filmed at 7:30am on Saturday April 15th 2023, in Tintern, Monmouthshire, Wales along the River Wye. The river forms the border between Monmouthshire, Wales and Gloucestershire, England. The temperature was around 3° but the thick fog in the air made it feel colder. There was very little wind, in the valley the fog lingers. Tintern Abbey is a popular tourist attraction, it is visited by approximately 70,000 people a year. The nearest town is Chepstow, about a ten minute drive. Cardiff, the capital city of Wales is about a 50 minute driveway. Driving from London can be as long as a three hour journey. Brief history: Walter de Clare founded Tintern Abbey on May 9th 1131. Nobleman, De Clare was granted lordship of the land by King Henry I of England. Construction of the Abbey took over 100 years, from 1131 to 1230. It was established as a monastery for the Cistercian monks, who adhered to a strict code of simplicity and isolation. What remains of the Abbey is a mixture of architecture from 1131 to 1536. After this period the Abbey fell into decline, due to the Dissolution of the Monasteries. The dissolution was enacted by Henry VIII, between 1536 to 1541, where church land across England, Wales and Ireland was confiscated and transferred to the Crown. Lead from the roof tiles was sold, industries set up around the area - factories and furnaces, quarries in the hills and charcoal was made in the woods. The Abbey suffered from all this pollution and the ruins were inhabited by the workers. The building decaying more and more over time. In the 18th century visiting remote parts of the country became a popular pursuit. The Abbey ruins gathered attention, and were romanticised by artists. During a tour of Britain in the 1790s painter William Turner sketched the Abbey, concluding in his watercolour - Tintern Abbey: The Crossing and Chancel. While on a walking tour with his sister William Wordsworth visited the area. Inspiring Wordsworth to write the poem: Lines Written a Few Miles above Tintern Abbey. Links below. The Abbey was acknowledged as a monument of national importance in 1901, and designated a Grade 1 listed building in September 2000. Tintern Abbey is one of the most well-preserved ruins in Wales.

Ohhh! what wonderful film you’ve produced a masterpiece! This is an enchanted place, it must have been so delightful to be there at such an early hour, thank you so much for your work and effort. I will most definitely return to this one over and over. The sounds are so marvellous as well, the cockerel repeating his clarion-call, I could almost feel the chill of the air, the dampness of the fog and the wet dew upon the grass. My eyes skimmed the openings to maybe catch a glimpse of some long ago wraith hazy and ethereal drifting between the archways. Truly a stunning finish as the camera ascends to show the surrounding hills! 🙏🏻💕💐💐💐💐💐

I have prayed for you and your family. I was wondering if you all were ok. The walk was lovely and I hope you and your family are doing well. To me the remains of that abbey symbolize how the world around us has abandoned GOD and forgotten all HE has done for us. It was still a beautiful walk and I will keep praying for you and yours. Ah, Tintern, a quaint little town nestled amidst rolling hills and picturesque meadows. Little did I know, my visit to this seemingly innocent place would turn into an uproarious adventure filled with unexpected twists and turns. Join me as I recount the misadventures of a lifetime!
With my trusty sidekick, Trixie the mischievous dachshund, in tow, we set off on our adventure in Tintern. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and I was ready to make the most of this quaint little town. Little did I know, Tintern had something else in store for me.
Our first stop was at the local café, where the aroma of freshly brewed coffee reached our noses. Trixie, being the mischievous pup she is, decided it was the perfect time to initiate Operation Creamy Caper. She darted across the café, tail wagging, and ended up crashing into a tray filled with whipped cream-topped desserts. Oh, the horror! With whipped cream splattered in every direction, I knew our adventure was off to an unexpectedly hilarious start.
Determined to redeem ourselves, we decided to explore Tintern Abbey, a historical masterpiece known for its serene beauty. As we strolled along the ancient ruins, soaking in the ambiance, I couldn't help but notice a peculiar statue hidden among the crumbling stones. It was a statue of a chicken wearing sunglasses and a top hat. Now, that's certainly an innovative take on sculptures!
Curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to give the statue a gentle tap. Little did I know, this statue wasn't just any old monument, but a secret door disguised as poultry art. With a loud "quack," the statue pivoted open, revealing a hidden staircase. Trixie and I exchanged baffled glances, wondering if we had accidentally stumbled upon a secret society of chicken-loving adventure enthusiasts. Intrigued, we descended into the abyss.
To my amazement, we found ourselves in a subterranean maze filled with colorful lights, disco balls, and a full-blown chicken dance party! Chickens of all sizes and breeds were boogying to their heart's content. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine witnessing chickens getting their groove on. It was an innovative kind of creativity I didn't expect in Tintern.
Embracing the moment, Trixie and I joined the feathered festivities, showing off our best dance moves. Who would've imagined us humans tearing up the dance floor with chickens? It was absurdly hilarious, and we couldn't stop laughing as feathers flew in every direction.

I've missed you Adam! also missed the abbey - feeling homesick for my favourite haunts this was one of them. You didn't manage to get around the inside. When you stand facing the high alter window in the Autumn, the window now empty of its glass looks out over the backdrop of Autumn leaves and colours - magical - please do another video from the inside and the grounds depicting the dining hall, kitchen, cloisters - to name a few - thank you so much for this - hope you are well.
