    This is great news! I was hoping to experience the same, but unfortunately, illness struck my birds and I lost a lot until the medication could do it's thing. It was a few weeks of stress and sadness. 6 of my birds died, and one of my gouldian males took a very long time to recover. He still looks weak and also seems to have gotten stuck in moult, which isn't surprising as he was about to start molting when he got sick. It's a hard lesson, and I'm sure I have a lot of those to go through as I continue with the bird keeping hobby. Oh, and I wanted to ask you about the tree branches in your aviary. I really like the look they give and they seem to be the perfect thickness for the gouldians. What kind of tree is it and where did you get it? How are you keeping it upright without the birds managing to knock it down? Thanks for reading :)

      Unfortunately it is also part of the hobby. I have had the same last year. I use different kind of branches found in the forest or when somebody in the neighbourhood did some pruning. It is good to have different thickness throughout the Aviary. I just screw them into place or use iron wire.

      Replace them for fake stone eggs for a while. They will sometimes learn it's not eatable anymore.

    Any tips for fat Gouldian Finches??? Mine keep getting so fat even though they are in a large aviary!!! They get sprouted seeds, dry seeds, hard boiled eggs, fresh herbs, oyster shell grit, charcoal, mineral Blocks and cuttlefish bone. No miller spray or birds treats.

    Hello. That is amazing! Congrats. You are doing a great job with them and now you have great success.
    A trick I used to do is pull a few feathers from the chest of each chick which will promote adult feathers to grow in so you can see what color the breast will be and if purple, you can tell male or female based on how dark. Can't wait to see the next video. Take care my bird friend.

      Thank you maybe I will try that

    • @BackHome0811
      @BackHome0811 2 роки тому +1

      But pulling feathers will hurt the chick real hard and I don't think Mr. Aviary is in a hurry to check what's the color and gender. I feel we should wait for their baby molt and then as the start to grow their adult feathers, you can check on them. On my opinion I shall never suggest you to do this plucking feathers thing at such a delicate age of the chicks.

      @@BackHome0811 For heaven sakes, it doesn't hurt the chick. Just 3 or 4 feathers. Not plucking the chick bald. It's just a suggestion that worked for me. I love birds! Ultimately, he will make his own decision about his own birds. He is doing a great job.

      @@colesbackyardcoop Thanks for increasing my knowledge on this feather plucking thing. I always thought it is something that hurts the birds, may it be a baby or an adult. And for this reason I depend on the molt. Anyway thanks for sharing your piece of brain to me 😀

    bro can i ask if there's a possibility to sprout the hemp seed on commercial birdseed like "Canary mix seed with hemp "

    • @MrAviary
      @MrAviary  2 роки тому

      It is very difficult, maybe some will sprout but overall a low sprouting succes. Special sprouted seeds are processed differently and therefore better to sprout

      @@MrAviary ja ik heb vandaag nogmaals een nest opgehangen om het te proberen, ik hou niet zoveel van Japanse Meeuwen, natuurbroed geeft me veel meer voldoening maar dat is iedere kweker voor zich! Volgende maand nog 2 koppels Emblema Pictas bij elkaar zetten en dan hopelijk wat mooie jongen waar ik koppels mee kan maken!
