    I read about about a pilot that got impatient and used his reverse thrusters in lieu of a pushback. He didn't get canned or grounded, but airport management had a friendly little chat with him.

      I can just imagine ground crew flying all over the tarmac.

      That's frowned upon as it usually breaks noise regulations.

      That used to be standard procedure at many airlines, called “powerback”. It’s very dangerous and is no longer used except maybe in countries where pushback tractors are hard to come by.

    I was on A DC9 many moons ago, running late because a fruitloop insisted on sitting at the emergency door, they get her seated, out the window the ground crew scatters like cockroaches, Launchpad punches it in reverse. This was Nashville. Stuff is flying up over the roof of the terminal. Then 60mph taxi, hang a right onto the next taxiway, full throttle onto the runway, airborne in seconds. I always wondered if a airliner could do that......

    A tire boot for airplanes! Would make a bit hard to take off with one of those attached.

    What is the purpose of lifting the nose gear?

    • @AndrewCZ47
      @AndrewCZ47 5 місяців тому

      To put more weight on the tug's wheels so you get more pulling/pushing power. Old style tugs with a towbar have to carry tons of steel or concrete ballast, these things use the plane's own weight.

    imagine if this front wheel rod would break during push back - it must be really strong to push 300 tons

      Doesn't anyone recall that AirBus that had to land with its nosewheel stuck sideways? It held up fine (kudos to the engineers).

      @@KOZMOuvBORG yeah, there were at least seven different cases of this happening, the most notable being the Jetblue Flight 292. The NTSB report says that worn-out seals were to blame for the malfunction, and that the BSCU system contributed to the problem. The NTSB reported that Airbus had since upgraded the system to take care of the problem. There was also a recent one back in March 29th, 2022 (LATAM 4292).

    Why the man in outside of the tractor hang that rope atached to the aircraft?

    • @felipegames12
      @felipegames12 7 років тому +4

      Michael Douglas Thats not a rope, its a cable.
      He uses that to keep radio contact with the pilots during the pushback.
