Well done! My BR700 started rattling hard and two different dealers said I needed the entire short block. After I ordered it and installed it myself, I started breaking down the 'ruined' short block. As you can imagine, it was just one of the shaft bearings. With a new bearing set and a bit more work, the repair would have been far less expensive.
Great video very detailed I rebuilt one of my br600s 2 years ago it does get ran all week long but it started making a funny noise the other day and didn’t wanna stay cranked so I got home took the cover off and 2 of the crank pan bolts were hanging and the pan was split . What do you think caused that I run stihl mix. Piston and cylinder steel seem great from the rebuild
I don't generally check ring gap... Because... I do a full engine inspection on every blower prior which includes a leak down test with a differential cylinder pressure tester... If an engine shows more than 20% blow leakage and it has no leakage out the intake or exhaust ports I don't bother messing with it.
@@sethpayment could you elaborate on this a bit more? Doesn't the piston ring wear influence how much leakage there is? Why isn't it a good practice to just put in a new ring while you're in there? Thanks!
i made my own piston stop from a bolt. I took a BR600 spark plug to a hardware store and found a nut that would thread on the spark plug then found a bolt that the nut would thread on also. Forgot what size bolt , the tread pitch I think was 125. never use power tools when removing the fan on the back OR use the bolt on the flywheel....you will break the built in woodruff key on the flywheel and the flywheel will be no more good.....oh yes i tapered the end of the bolt to a dull point on a grinder.
Good evening. I have a br600 i changed the bearings and seals and the cam wheel on it but for some reason it doesn’t have full power like it used to. Should i check something else on it?
Hi,Would you believe that after asemble engine that little sprocket who sit on crankshaft and set up timing it spinning round on crankshaft ,how its possible, there is no crack on it or any damages, any ideas what to do,it thread locker coud help,or to hot environment for it. Any help highly appreciate. Thank you
Video is great however as a retired automotive technician I have to ask, do you own an impact wrench? Even a battery powered cordless will save your hands and ease the job.
Can you help, the Fan of my Stihl br 500 backpack keep losing when I pull to start the blower. 3 times now I open to fix but still losing. Now I don't know what to do.
What I did to push the bearings on is exactly how I show it in the video... I know my video is kind of long and boring but the only way I've had success is to use the nut on the the flywheel side and the fan on the fan side.
What would cause the push rod on intake valve side to drop down? I was changing the purge / primer bulb & was about to check the valve clearance / setting it to TDC when I heard a click- then saw the push rod fall down... Timing gear broken or valve itself dropped perhaps ?
I would think timing gear broke... Super common issue... Especially with a crankshaft that creates significantly more vibration due to a fatigued bearing...
@@Steve_Just_Steve Thanks!! I’m pretty sure that’s what happened. The intake side was super loose & when I turned it to TDC it just fell... Thankfully the engine wasn’t running & doesn’t appear to have done any damage
I know the dealership has torque specs but I think you'd be lucky to find a tech who knows how to look those up... I say lucky because most of the Stihl techs now that I run into have no clue that most of their special tools outside of a limited few even exist to make their lives so much easier.
You don’t need any sharpie or any alignment mark period for that crankshaft gear , the cam gear provides all the timing and ignition timing is done with the flywheel and ignition coil ... you have no clue what you’re doing here pal ...

how much was the bearing set?
The absolute best video that I have seen on this subject! Thank you very much, Sir!
Seth you are the best, you went through step by step every delails to the of the video .
Great video very detailed

Thanks for your technique to remove crank nut i really have problem now i did it.
1st off, Love the video. I'm going to use couple new tips!
2nd I always replace/check ring gap. Almost everytime I get .050 gap plus.

put the crank in the freezer overnight, you can push the bearing with the fingers
really?

What is the part # for the clam shell puller sir both of them.
👏👏 thanks
Well done
14:40 broken mounting lugs ? TIG up new ones ?
Would a Br700 impeller fan fit on a br600 without changing the fan housing ?
Can you send a link for the piston stop please

Hi,would you be so kind and tell me whats the best way to press crank bearings without damaging the crank.
Thank you.

Or if you loosen the rocker too much the push rod can fall down beside the lobe, you can just pick it out with a magnet and put it back.

I not get the mark when movers
Cant believe that fan came off that esay
May be good if you could hear him
Seriously dude. I watched your whole video waiting for torque specs! 😡

Seriously dude Google it. Every single nut and bolt. Jes what do you expect him to do repairs yours!!!
