I love how the Philip and fairy cast members look back and are like “oh, shit...” and then try to remain in character despite the uncomfortable looks on their faces.
Props to the performers. Disney character performers have to stay in character and be cheerful/positive in almost every circumstance, even when there's a literal fire. It's incredible lol
To be fair, it probably is. It looked to me like a hydraulic fluid leak. It was the fluid that was burning, and the structure seemed fine. It is also why the fire extinguishers were ineffective.

A float of a firebreathing dragon, catching in full flames, to some seriously perky music in the middle of the happiest place on earth while everyone tries to act unconcerned. What a legend. Glad no one was hurt though, cast members did a great job of calmly handling it and evacuating.

I worked there at the time. Parade crowd control. I wasn't there that day. But watching this, I can't believe no one did anything to get the crowds away from the area. Everyone just stood there watching. It's amazing no one got hurt.
I was wondering that too, after seeing footage of the Disneyland one they were evacuating the area around the lake... and the fire was actually on the other side of the lake, here there's people just standing around like "Hey this is my spot for the parade I ain't moving!" meanwhile it really summed it all up at the end where the mom was telling her kid "put the towel over your mouth" and I'm thinking "Or you could get your children out of there when a flammable substance was going up in fire, but oh no it might mess up your video!"
And now happens again 4/22/23 with the dragon in Fantasmic!!!! I love how the guys spraying it is like the prince fighting Maleficent with the sword in the movie. 😂

Wow! Clearly the park wasn't prepared for this type of emergency.. Fire extinguishers? Seriously? There should be fire hydrants and hoses throughout the park accessible to staff trained to deal with an event like this.
@@preyes526 No excuse on management. There are billions of things that can go wrong in any section of an amusement park. I can't believe they lacked the proper equipment to deal with this. Those extinguishers are NOT meant to reach that high. Hey, my previous job issued similar extinguishers and we were told to only spray horizontally or at a downward angle. It was not designed to spray upwards because it can't generate enough pressure to muffle the flames. They're spraying almost straight up! They need a high pressure hose connected to a hydrant. I cannot believe Main Street doesn't have even ONE decent pressure hose to deal with something like this but the video and length of time strongly suggest they don't.
Ent cast member here! Water is actually the worst thing to use in this scenario. Its like using water on an oil fire. All it will do is cause more harm than good. The dragons mouth was leaking lighter fluid, thus using water would blast it onto guest. Probably not the best coarse of action lmao.
@@MfloLovesNinjaz hi fellow CM! I work in the parisian resort, we have a team of firefighters on site at all time, and they actually have to give the go for most show involving pyrotechnics! I'm wondering if you have them too in your resort, i was surprised to not see any on the video?
@@monkialightstone1056 You're right, we can see a steering wheel and chair inside the neck even tho it's disguised to not be so visible. But I don't see anyone sitting in it so likely the employee either went away or helpt outside of it to turn down the fire
It’s definitely hard to watch. I feel almost uncomfortable seeing this float burn. But the techs and performers did an amazing job keeping the show going. I was there the day this happened and I could see the smoke by the Christmas Shop, but I was very far away and I wasn’t aware this happened until my brother texted me and sent me a video.
In that instance cast members are dealing with maybe close to 100 people of all ages packed together in a narrow space. Clearing that area takes time. This could have easily been so much worse if the cast members hadn't been able to keep the guests calm and hadn't known what to do to get the fire under control so that it wasn't spreading. Waiting to clear guests until the fire was pretty much out was the right move. The fire was the first priority. It wouldn't matter how fast they got guests cleared if they weren't focused on the fire and it spread.
It’s so funny. My husband worked at Disney so during the whole month of April we LIVED at Magic Kingdom. And then May I kind of slowed down on going daily and when I took my family at the end of June I was like why is the Aurora float so different and couldn’t put my finger on it... then I remembered... lol RIP Malificent
Love how even though it’s on fire, they don’t stop the music and turn the switch off of the dragon and evacuate the people so none of the kids inhale the smoke.
Disney world you never fail great job, you kept people safe. There is always a first for everything, the right call was definitely made. A week after this, the float came back on the parade route.
Dawn Welch No it was not? The castle in the background was the sleeping beauty castle, not the Cinderella castle. MGK at WDW is home to the Cinderella castle so it's definitely NOT Disney World

Also Land parades only go along the edge and back part of Fantasyland and no where near Frontierland??? Like???? It's 100% World.
It’s so scary knowing that this happened for a second time
I know, it’s disturbing!
The parade float that was on fire actually looks badass
Coming out of its mouth would be cool
Shoutout to the mom who was quick to get a towel over her kid(s) mouth. It may seem like common sense but with all of the excitement and chaos, she could have easily lost her focus and she didn't. You rock mama.
I swear y’all will celebrate a mom just for breathing.
@@sassymouth2056 take some notes 📝
give me a break.....
she didn't think to remove her child from the scene, now did she?
too busy gawking to move away from the fire.
no brownie points for her. 😡
@@peacewillow stop complaining dumbass, I bet lots of people were trying to leave too but due to the fire, they probably couldn’t until it was under control
Super mom check
Wow! Clearly the park wasn't prepared for this type of emergency.. Fire extinguishers? Seriously? There should be fire hydrants and hoses throughout the park accessible to staff trained to deal with an event like this.
well as you said, they weren't prepared....
That's fine if you want the prices of the tickets to go up.
The dramatic music just makes it hilarious hehe
You can see the “ I don’t get payed enough for this” in the faces of the characters in front 😂
Say that to the poor guy stuck in the dragons neck
@@monkialightstone1056 The dragon is robotic they wouldn’t have somebody in the body for a fire hazard since it spits out fire
@@jjrolay9960 I really wish I could show you a picture of it because there is a guy in there.
@@monkialightstone1056 You're right, we can see a steering wheel and chair inside the neck even tho it's disguised to not be so visible. But I don't see anyone sitting in it so likely the employee either went away or helpt outside of it to turn down the fire
@@ze_reaper you can actually see the exact moment someone gets out from underneath at 2:29
I love how the music was perfect for the ‘battle’ and even the programmed dragon was perfect. It was like a modern dragon slaying.
Omg I couldn’t stop laughing. The music fit so perfectly and it looked like the dragon was screaming in pain when it roared and opened its mouth XD.
The float is restored and up and working again 👍👍
5:21 I love how there is a random guest who decided to take over the emergency evacuation announcements for the cast 😂
She may have been an off duty cast member? Looks like she has a cast name tag on?
Yeah she is a leader not a random person
I love how everyone’s just filming and not a bit worried..😂
Parents have not trained their kids to react in an emergency!
Yeah like basically everyone was like “OOH I GOTTA GET THIS NOW THIS IS PURE GOLD” than pulls out their phones 😂
Well, the piped in music from the fight scene in “Sleeping Beauty” fit the scene perfectly! A shame that had to happen! Hope nobody was hurt!
I love that all the backed up characters behind Maleficent are acting completely normal and oblivious. Just keep smiling and waving lol
We didn't start the fire, it was always burning since the world's been turning
Robert Iger Billy Joel reference!
Oop, stop reminding me of the happier times before Endgame!!
The song is wrong, though.
best parade ever
and notice how the music fits the scenary
Was I the only one thinking, "why didn't they evacuate everyone right away?" I'm so shocked!

@@OperationFatGuy disney world is in Florida...
@@fabianvidal9371 maybe it's in Disneyland I don't know...
Well it wasnt that close to anyone
Disney's Dragon is so cool, it spits fire from the back of its head instead of its mouth
Maleficient: Remind me again why I signed up for this insanity.
Okay but Pinocchio in the back dancing the whole entire time tho… dedication.
Prince Philip needs to come back and fight the dragon and put that fire out. Lol.
3:49
The way it turns kind of heroic as he puts it out
Music fit perfectly 😂
Love how even though it’s on fire, they don’t stop the music and turn the switch off of the dragon and evacuate the people so none of the kids inhale the smoke.
So you’d rather have them start a panic where kids could get trampled, got it.
Everyone: Disney is a place for kids
Dragon: hold my scales
The best part is that the animatronic is still moving so it’s like they’re really battling a dragon
XD
“Don’t worry kids, he’s fighting the dragon!!”
And that’s how you handle all emergencies in life. Just keep dancing.
😂😂
Disney world you never fail great job, you kept people safe. There is always a first for everything, the right call was definitely made. A week after this, the float came back on the parade route.
@2:45 does anyone notice Pinocchio in the back clapping and looking happy like a freaking psychopath. I think I know who started this fire
It was his plan :)
It'd be easy to find out, just ask him 🤣

I simply love how the scene adapts to the music, I mean, when the dragon appears on fire the music is so acurate being scary and when those guys start trying to extinguish the fire another the music starts playing more happier as if help was on its way. It's so funny XD
Edit: I mean the fact that it was set on fire is not funny, but the detail of the music just seemed hilarious to me
If I had a nickel for every time a maleficent dragon went up in flames, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s kind of weird it happened twice.
