Nice review. 2 years ago, I had the Nova 150 for a couple weeks paired with my Magnepan MG1c and I was first impressed by the huge sound stage and the power that this amps provided. In the end, I got rid of it, mainly because I wanted to explore the sounds of other amps and I found the sound a bit grainy and dark. It's a good and powerful amp but maybe not for everybody's taste.
Great review! I obtained a Nova 150 a few months ago and enjoy it quite a bit. For whatever reason it is a great match with my Magnepan MMG speakers but sounds unpleasant with my Magnepan 1.7i. I like it's features and looks and recommend it to those looking for something in its category.
Thanks! Would you happen to have the Sky module or know if it's out already? I haven't tried it with Maggies, but that sounds very intriguing. Will see if I can borrow one.
@@TheAudiofool Mine does not have the sky module, it is a couple years old. I picked it up used for $400! I also tried the peachtree with my Wharfedale towers and although I didn't do critical listening, they sounded cleaner and more authoritative at high volumes than they ever did with my Emotiva amp.
Nice review but I notice from this review and other reviews of this amp, its not suggested that this is a stayer (despite it's power output) that you can build future systems (upgrades) with it , yet the Hegel H120 (only 75atts into 8ohms- high damping) is often partnered with very expensive speakers speakers implying its a amp with a capable quality sound...? Also note few users finding issues with this particular amp which brings a sort of worry in purchasing this amp.
That really depends on your room size and preference. Sometimes it's a chore to test out positions but it's the only way to find out; that said, once you do find the best position, it will usually turn out to be the best position for other speakers most of the time. For me, I prefer it to be away from the wall and with the using the partial port bungs.
That depends on what you're after... I haven't had the pleasure of using the c7es3 in my room, but for the P3ESR, I had the best fun with a Roksan Blak. Apart from that, I like the Schiit Aegir/Saga.
Awesome comparision! Really enjoyed watching all the comparisons you posted on your channel.. Please review the budget friendly and highly acclaimed Rega Brio 2017 Integrated Amp in compare to the Schiit Aegir..
Thanks. I do not have a direct comparison right now, but based on memory, the Aegir will be more refined, slighlty more detailed, and mids will be a bit more dynamic. That said, the Brio is a great integrated amp for the price and would be one of my recommended amps in the price range.
The one annoying thing about Peachtree is they don't use Bass and Treble knobs because it probably takes away from the simplicity of the their trademark design. I use a mixer anyway for changing the EQ. There used to be a Peachtree model that allowed bass and treble adjustments on the remote. Don't know why they never included that feature again. But I still love it for its compact size, look, and power.
I lent the Rag to a friend and couldn't return it, also, it's a rag 1, would that still be interesting for you? The Tektons are someplace else, I was doing the sound demo as well so I took down the Tektons.
@@TheAudiofool Theere is no detectable sound diff between rag 1 and 2 per stereophile. facilities are different, rag 2 is usable with IEMs and stuff like that are different. so Rag 1 rocks.
My Peachtree Nova 300 has gone up in smoke twice. Bought it 2 years ago and in that time its spent 8 months in the repair shop. The sound was awesome when I first got it and after the first repair it was back to normal but the second repair changed the sound. Now Peachtree won't answer my emails or return phone calls.
I'm so sorry to hear that. I take it the after repair sound doesn't sound as good; I would probably just sell it off and replace it with something else.
@@TheAudiofool your review of the Nova 300 is spot on. I'd be a huge advocate if only I hadn't got a dud, and if perhaps Nova would honour their warranty. I have KEF LS50 METAs and think that they're a good combination with this amp. I tried a Rega phono stage and found that the Nova phono stage was better, also think the Nova DAC is very good. I like your direct comparisons of tracks, as the only real world way of comparing equipment is A-B with music I know. Also, your choice of Schiit as a comparison is great, based largely on your video I will probably replace this Nova shit with Schiit.
@@TheAudiofool Peachtree called today, they are replacing my Nova 300. When it was working properly it was an excellent amp...looking forward to getting that big sound back.
I can get behind this review here. I own this model and the cons are the same for me, but it does serve the purpose for what I needed which was the loopback mode which is the main way I run it. I do wish I could plug a stand alone sub to it.
@@mrchinaski4125 There are a few uses for it depending on your setup. For me since I am a retro head, I am still a Proud owner of the Bose 901's well since I don't have my original receiver which had the Tape Monitor function, most new receiver's don't use this function anymore, I can't push the Bose Eq probably so the loop allows me to use the circuit in the same matter as the old receiver along with a couple inline filters and now I'm good to go, sounds good as new.
Just incase someone reads this, the word I got from peachtree is..You can certainly connect the preamp output to the subwoofer; however, you'll need to make sure the subwoofer has a low pass filter on the input.
Need help with upgrade path. Currently tidal on tv into modi 3, into Peachtree nova (80 watts) into crown xls (1000 watts) into Maggie lrs. Thank you ur a rock star.
The crown sounds better than the Nova? Hard to recommend, what do you want to improve with your sound and do you have room treatment already? If you're basically happy with the sound and just looking for a new thing, I would suggest getting a bitfrost 2 or chord qutest.
The Audiofool thanks any speaker cables recommend for maggies and warm sound. Do you have a patreon Page? I do hear the crown amp giving a fuller sound.
It's okay. Depending on the price you'd get it for and if you need balanced and if you don't like R2R/FPGA, I would go for Topping D90 or SMSL M400 to get the latest chip. If you don't need balance, the E30 or SMSL SK10v2 are your best bets.
@@Chris-ih4hj For what speakers and what kind of sound sig do you like? I personally prefer focus on midrange and microdynamics so I like the Schiit Saga and Aegir Combo which should be within your price range, though your room shouldn't be too large.

How about a good DAC (like Schiit multibit) + $700-$1000 integrated AB amps (like Cambridge CXA or Onkyo 9150) vs Peachtree Nova ?
I'd probably go with the Nova if you like it warm.
is there a way to control bass and treble in this?
