Hi Ron! I bought the Tyr after your first review. I also got the Holo Audio May and the Holo Serene based on your reviews. I love the results I got. Thank you for your precision and dedication to the products you review!
Ron, great review of Tyr amps (I am a Schiit owner of many products). Respectfully, I think it may help your audience with direct comparisons of other amps (none Schiit products) would be insightful to vs other products at or near same price point. Sound clips are good but are also limited over the internet. This additional information may help individuals determine if the Tyr amps will be compatible with their rigs and speakers. These comments are not intended to offend anyone, just trying to provide some constructive feedback. But like you say there is a free 15 day trial to figure out if this amp is right for the purchaser.
Ron, Thanks again for your thoughtful and very entertaining review. As a US-government funded scientist myself, I come to reviews like this for the same reason I participate in the rest of 'audiophile hobby'- to receive thoughtful reviews and 'user impressions', which I compare to other user impressions in other forums, such as Head-Fi etc., which provide me with a collection of 'evidence' that helps me to make up my mind. Subjective evidence is also evidence! This review and your "first impressions' are one of only a few on YT on the Tyr, and I appreciate the thoughtful and careful way you share your experiences. Sure, you are not purporting that your findings constitute a publishable analysis, but I assert - that's not what YT videos should or purport to do. It is predominantly to share your impression as a reviewer who has heard a lot of gear (as most of us have not) and stimulate us to further personal investigation, possibly leading to a personal choice to purchase the item. But it is also to entertain us, and all that you have done, sir, with excellence. Keep going, you are doing very well indeed.
WOW!! The sound clips were absolutely amazing! I momentarily forgot that this was an amp review. This video has put a permanent halt to my speaker building hobby. It's time for me to break down and make a store purchase because I can't match the sound quality that I heard here. Kudos to all of the manufactures presented in this video especially Schiit Audio. Thank you New Record Day for making my day.
You could actually match what you heard but it would take a lot of your time and effort. How much is that worth to you? Would you replicate the X4's, Caladan's, Bully's, or Typhon's, or would you mix and match?

Great review! Next level. I own the Tyrs and love them. I bought them for my Magnepans. It drives the 1.7i effortlessly. It is a no brainer recommendation for those who love Maggies. The immersive detailed stage is just bliss. I also tried them with my M3 Sapphires and got excellent results, especially in the bass. Settled on the Rogue Cronus 3 with M3 Sapphires since 1.7i need Tyrs power. I am using the Freya S with the Tyrs currently but may upgrade at some point. Considering the Serene or the Benchmark preamp. Possibly a the new Rogue RP5 V.2. Then again the improved Schiit Kara preamp may be closer to these than expected for fraction of cost.
@snowpuppy77, I have the Tyr's and the GR Brutes. I demoed the Schiit Kara in place of my Schiit Freya+ and liked the Freya more than the Kara. The Kara had more clarity and deeper sound stage then the Freya+ but the increased clarity the Kara brought to my system caused a bit of listening fatigue for me. If your speakers are lacking a bit of top end detail, then the Kara may be just right for you.
Do the Serene or the Kara. I have a Freya+ and the Serene is in another league. And I’ve heard the same of the Kara, though haven’t tried it. No brainer to demo it for 15 days imo. Price is right.
Such a great review. Makes me want to sell all my gear and start over with the Tyr's. Such a clear presentation and I could really feel the sub extension with the Spacial's.
Very insightful review Sir! And I like the story telling style of your reviews which is outstanding from the crowd. Greetings from Hungary! Keep up the good work!
Just unpacked these Tyrs and added the Freya+ preamp. Splendid power. Very pleased. Question: can you send us a link to your wooden audio rack "shelving" system ?
Love the idea of schiit on paper but had soooo many reliability issues with my schiit gear. Had a freya for 2 years and for what seemed like 6 months outta that it was being repaired.
Dude I hope that was it. Cause like I said, made in USA for affordable prices seems like an awesome thing. Also had an Aegir and still have a Bifrost- The freya was the one with the problems. Terrible. Replaced Freya and Aegir with LTA Ultralinear integrated but still use the Bifrost for now. I will say the difference between Freya + Aegir to LTA was a big jump forward. Which makes sense seeing the cost difference. @@jimmyrustle6725
I love my Schiit as well, alas my Freya + has gone in for repair. This is the second time, first a power supply issue, couldn't turn it on, the second the tube stage didn't work and I sent it back. These are 2 different units...This was after less than a year of service. I also have a Lokius, Modius and 2 Vidars in the mix. Hopefully they can fix the Freya + and I'm problem free for a while.
Fantastic stuff as usual, Ron. I’ve been very curious about these amps from someone I trust the opinion of, and here it is. Great insight and review. The creepy South Park keyboard warrior was a nice touch 😂 Thank you, Ron! 🔊😊🎶 Edit: “Probably 632 lbs…Probably” 🤣 Nice….
I’ve been rocking 140 watt tube monoblocks for years. I got the Tyrs based on the design concept and also what early buyers were saying. Within 10 seconds of listening they walked all over my tube amps! The depth, air, and dynamics I was hearing was a revelation. Schiit does it again! I’m looking forward to their Aegir 2 and possibly other amp designs. Hey Ron, are you ever going to check out Yggdrasil?
@Corndog642 Thanks for leaving your thoughts on these amps. I’ve been running either Quicksilver mid mono tube monoblocks or my Marantz 2220B, and the aprox 35 watts of tube power per amp or even the 20 wpc of the 2220B, have zero problems driving both my main speakers. (Tekton Pendragons and Fortes) They’re both around 95dB sensitive, so easily driven, but I still wanna hear these. Again, I appreciate you leaving your comment. Thanks.
I too am very interested in seeing Ron review the Yggdrasil DAC. I realize many have reviewed it already. But they've changed a lot over the years. And I want to hear Ron's take on it. I would prefer to hear about the Less Is More version myself. As that seems to not only be the best sounding one, but also the lowest priced one too. Which is practically unheard of in this realm. ✌️
Great video! I have a pair of Aegirs (partly thanks to your review) which they recently discontinued on the website as 'last call' item. Jason from Schiit hinted about an Aegir 2 with more power and their new 'halo' technology, will be interesting to see how this compares to the OG model. Also, are you going to do a Schiit Skoll review anytime soon? I think it's a pretty awesome balanced phono preamp - been enjoying it immensely.
As Ron said, the Aegir's are smooth operators but you need to ask if that's your goal. I'd rather hear the truth if the amp doesn't add glare or harshness.
Ron, I love it! Thank you for the review, you are one of the best on the internet. Can’t wait for the Aegir 2 review once that amplifier is released. Do you think the Tyr pairs well with the Freya+? That’s the pre-amplifier I have. Did you pair it with the Freya S for a reason in lieu of the Freya+? Appreciate the insight.
I just played Dominiques song on my Triangle Borea Br09 with Emotiva BasX A300 amp and Node 2 ( newest variant); what you were describing at the beginning of the song was easily recognized in my system. I added sound absorption material to the inside of my triangle cabinets that also help eliminate cabinet resonance and that's made a tremendous improvement in sound quality of the Br09 speakers.
I have not seen any reviews of the Bully speakers. I'd think they'd be fun and old school sounding circa 80s/90s party speakers with much improved sound.
Ron a silly question but important for me right now.. Would the Tyrs and Freya+, be a better option than the Hegel H390? Im running a pair of PSB Synchrony One speakers (next year would be Dynaudio Contour 60i)
Ron. Your first TYR review you I didnt like pairing the TYR with Freya +. In this review you rave about pairing the TYR with Freya S. Can I ask what explains this difference? TY sir!
Actually that’s not correct - I initially paired them with the Freya N… totally different preamp that was discontinued. I haven’t paired them with the Freya + yet.
I probably need to get a pair of these. Currently running a Schiit Mani 2 phono stage and a Freya Noval preamp & love them both. They punch way above their price range.
Agreed. But you know, these don’t suck that much power, idle, and they don’t get very warm either. I think it’s around .3A idle, so 40w idle. But I’d love triggers, however nothing I have has 12v triggers…
@@jon4715 yeah it's wild that we have this standard ... and so few manufacturers use it. I don't want to spend more than needed to keep the trigger relay going on an amp not playing music. Super integrateds with built in streamers will go into standby with wake from network functionality and draw like, 1w? Why wouldn't I want to do that with separates?
@@ryN45678 I feel the same way. But by idle, I mean on and ready but not playing music. If you left two them on idle and ready for music at all times for a year, it might cost you $12. Still, I would prefer some kind of smart on/off (or better, standard 12v triggers).
I am struggling with some impossible comparisons. for the money of for example two of those and a Schiit mjolnir or Freya I can buy a second hand Accuphase e-600. But how would they compare? To make my confusion clear: These budget audio optins on the higher price range are in an awkward position. If you get those components togetehr you could also get instead a second hand piece that would normally be way more expensive.
It has seemed a bit strange that the usual reviewers I depend upon - you, Steve, Darko, etc. have not reviewed this particular amp even though you have all been complimentary of Schiit products in the past. It made me wonder if Schiit just missed the boat on this one. Darko did a video on the making of them but never really weighed in on whether he liked them ( or if he did I missed it). I currently have two Aegirs which I really like. I am curious about what the “2” model will end up like but have always been curious about the TYR. Thank you for this review.
Another great review! Definitely looking forward to your 2024 lineup! So I know you get this all the time and I really hate to ask - but to me it kindof gets to the heart of my audio quest. I love the idea of the Tyrs and truth be told am probably going to purchase, but I am also drawn to the NAD M23 and the idea of efficient digital amplification. I don’t currently have a setup that would do justice to a comparison, but I know you did a review of the NAD M33. Do you have thoughts on Eigentakt Class D amplification ala NAD vs Schiit Tyr? They are somewhat in the same price range.
Hey Ron - Great video. Any idea how these might compare to the AGD Audion monoblocks? Was considering making those by 'last" amps. Would never have considered these but at half the price and 5 yr warr they are hard not to consider. Seeing how you are comparing these to the Bernmisters any idea how they'd compare to the AGD amps?
Hell yeah, been waiting for this one. Did you test with the Holo Serene at all this time around? I wonder how the new Kara preamp sounds in comparison.
I have the Tyrs and have tested with the Serene KTE and Kara. I prefer the Serene but the Kara gets close. The Serene has more detail, stage size, and texture. I also like the volume control and remote implementation better. But for a fraction of the cost of the Serene, I think the Kara is a really good value. Better then the solid state portion of the Freya+ for me
@@Newrecordday2013 You initially tested the Tyrs with the Serene, and you tested them with the Freya S for the full review. Did you test the Timekeepers with the Serene way back?
Nice review. i would like to know how they compare to other amplifiers in their price class or something similar. What are the differences to other amps. You compared them to other amps by Shiit but they are not in the same price catagory as the Tyr's. You seem to be saying they are a great value compared to other amps but what are those amps? Thanks for your effort in this review!
Great Review. Very informative so I will be sure to ‘stay tuned.’ Your Opinion Please: I’d like to get Magnaplaner 20.7’s to run with a pair of Tyr’s & a Freya+. What do you think of that combination ? Is there enough power for the 20.7’s. Thank you and all the best, JohnMc

The only other reviewer that can hang with Ron is Erin of Erin’s Audio Corner, who is a truth-teller and provider of critical objective performance criteria.
You used the magic words “dynamic headroom”, something I rarely hear these days. As a fan of NAD amps in the 80’s, that was the bread and butter of their lower wattage amps (20-50 watts) giving such “peak” performance. They were typically +3db on their units but I see know such spec on the Tyr. Any idea? Thanks for a great review!
Great review. I'm really enjoying your delivery and editing style. I ordered a pair of Tyrs back in April. I immediately noted the extra punch and oomph of heavy kick drums and cymbal hits. Female vocals have more clarity. I put on my Jeff Beck at Ronnie Scott's Blu-Ray to listen to Vinnie Colaiuta's fabulous playing (and all the others as well.😁) The whole performance came alive in a way not previously experienced. The Tyrs handle any of my speakers with ease. From the less sensitive KEF r3 Metas to the Klipsch rp-600m (with Danny's crossover upgrade) music jumps out of them with precession and clarity. My floor standers will knock you over if I get stupid with the remote. BTW... Your Patreon link is not working for me. It's putting a string of text at the end (%E2%80%8B) that results in a "page not found" error. When I crop that string off the end, all works well.
@mikecampbell5856 it doesn’t matter what listening space you have. What I say in my space will still apply regardless of your situation. That’s the point of having a controlled environment.
@@Newrecordday2013 I remember enjoying a video you did about a year ago about good sound in a small space. I see what you mean about having the same stable environment for everything.
I have the Tyr's powering a pair of NX-Oticas. What DAC and pre would be a good fit? I was thinking a Spring 3 KTE & Serene combo. I'm currently using a cheap chifi DAC within integrated volume control and that needs to go.
@@MyFatherLoves Not to knock Bifrost but Yggy is a better and more resolving dac. The NX-Oticas are highly resolving speakers and will reveal these differences. I’ve heard many say going from Bifrost to Yggy surprised them with how much detail they had been missing. Of course if cost is a factor then I’m sure Bifrost will satisfy.
@@Corndog642 Indeed. You need open baffle speakers that are setup correctly and you'll hear a difference for sure. But for those who don't use open baffle speakers and who's setups are in an untreated room, diminishing returns are far more punishing.
What does "with the TYR's there is plenty of air and extension waiting" mean, with regard the CSS speakers? I guess I am confused by "extension waiting."
My Wishlist has two Tyrs, but my reality will be two Vidar2s’ run as monoblocs. I’m not going to live concerts anymore, so Max-Watt is of lesser importance. It also has open baffle speakers on it. Dos Caladans’, por favor. My current sys is a Mitsubishi Da P20 with DA-1A50DC. Yep, that’s a dual 150W class A amp. The Schiits are my choice for power. They are at least comparable in spec. Tech moves on. Purposely, I did not mention my other components. They are irrelevant in this regard.
I have an Anthem MRX 540 and was wanting to add a power amp to it. The MCA 225 Gen2 is on that list, as well as the Tyrs, among a few other options such as KT120 tube and class D configurations. May I ask, what is it and the Tyrs that makes you want them despite having a great power amp already?
@@aa5az423 I appreciate a clear presentation, but personally can feel it can get a little fatiguing (especially for rock music). Thanks for giving me your insight! 🙏

I'd also give Buckeye Amps a look as well. Least expensive/highest quality option of the three companies. The dude who runs Buckeye also has excellent customer service and is very responsive.
. . . interested to know your opinion of Kinki amps and compared to the Tyr amps? By the way I think Kinki products are built to a higher standard. And yes, I have a lot of Schiit products.
@Nick-sk1qp I was looking for an upgrade from my ex-m7 and I tried kinki monoblocls as well as the Schiit, none were worth the upgrade, maybe because i bought the ex-m7 used and got a good deal. They sounded too analytical, less musical
It looks beautiful. Warranty is great. Assembled in the US? All fantastic. However, I could get a Hypex nCore NCX500 assembled in the US by an american company who also has great customer service, with far more power (700 watts into 4 ohms?), and far better THD/SNR/Crosstalk, etc... for about $1,100. It's overpriced. I have many Schiit products and love every one of them. But I don't understand the thought process behind this product.
Thanks for the comment! I disagree regarding the overpricing. When comparing a choke input power supply to a class D offering and attempting to rationalize the cost difference, that's where I find myself in disagreement. I'm not implying that the NCX500 isn't a great value or a subpar amplifier - it is! What I'm expressing is that because one option (the NCORE) is more affordable, the other (TYR) appears overpriced. Topology and circuit design for class D amps are typically much more cost-effective to build. It's analogous to recreating a 1977 Z28 Camaro to exact OG specs and making it as affordable as a Kia Forte. The irony lies in the fact that the Forte might boast better gas mileage, a smoother, quieter ride (considering THD/SNR/crosstalk), but personally, I'd still prefer the Camaro.
@@Newrecordday2013 refreshing to see someone be able to disagree so friggin intelligently. You rock, man. I totally understand where you’re coming from.

The fact that Schiit posts the Precision Audio result white papers on the webpage ... That's a BIG vote of confidence. I was JUST looking at MonoBlocks for my system.. BuckEye, Orchard Audio, Emotiva, PS Audio, ... on the high end.. Bryston, Moon Audio, Parasound, Rotel. Im glad we have people like you out here trying to accurately describe the character as best as objectively possible.. Gives me some more reference points before I decide. Thanks, Ron =) LOVE the style and edits on this one. Great new presentation / story telling.
Hello Ron, I was wondering if there was a "reason" 12v triggers were not on these, i'm not knocking the decision, is there a sonic improvement reason? YES, YOUR BEST VIDEO TO DATE.
Honest question: The Tyr is rated at 200W into 8 ohms. Its little brother Vidar 2 can be used in Mono mode, then rated at 400W into 8 ohms. I guess the Vidar 2 still doesn't have the oooomph of its bigger brother, but I don't get the 2x power output of Vidar 2 in Mono compared to Tyr. Anyone?
They’re different circuit designs. Tyr relies more on that big choke to store and release energy. Vidar is more of a traditional amp in some ways but also unique with its bridged mode. Speaking of which, you need balanced interconnects in bridged mode of Vidar and Aegir. Tyr has a regular RCA input as well as balanced XLR.
The Tyr is "balanced, differential amplifier with a unique discrete, current-feedback gain stage, coupled with Continuity output topology that eliminates transconductance droop. In Tyr, we’ve refined Continuity even further, resulting in a cooler-running amplifier." I could be wrong, but didn't see the Continuity output topology mentioned about the Vidar 2. Also, there doesn't appear to be a 4 ohm rating for the Vidar 2 in monobloc mode. That doesn't mean that you can't power 4 ohm speakers when using Vidar 2 in monobloc mode, but typically amps that run in stereo or monobloc have a little harder time with the lower impedances when run as a monobloc.
Yep, the SchiitTalker AI provided an interesting answer on the Schiit website. If I had the $$$ I would trade my monoblock Vidars for the Tyrs. Great review!
Remember when Vidar is run mono a 4 ohm speaker will see 2 ohms. So you will trigger protection much easier. Vidar is not a true monoblock. With Tyr 4 ohm speaker sees 4 ohm load. Tyrs are in different league than one or two Vidars. You are not getting something better or more powerful when getting two Vidars vs two Tyrs.
If you want to return it within 15 days, there is a 5% restocking fee charged for this unit by Schiit, plus cost of return shipping. But still reasonable IMO.
@@goodsound4756 I found this information about restocking fees: "There are some instances where retailers charge illegal restocking fees. Although state laws vary, restocking fees are generally illegal if: 1. They are being charged in connection with the return of defective merchandise; 2. They are being charged because the retailer delivered the wrong merchandise; 3. They are being charged because the retailer failed to deliver the merchandise within the promised time period; 4. They exceed 50% of the purchase price of the merchandise; or 5. The restocking fees are not adequately disclosed to the customer." The Schiit restocking fees are disclosed and are for when someone tries out the product for some period of time and doesn't like the way it sounds, etc. If the box was never opened, then I don't know if Schiit would charge a restocking fee or not. I personally prefer dealing with companies that have at least a minimal restocking fee, because otherwise a lot of people will order stuff just to play around with it for free and then return it (with no intention of ever keeping it), and the cost to the business ultimately gets borne by the people who buy and keep the product. Schiit actually sells some of its products on Amazon at a higher price, due to the return policy that Amazon requires. I don't think they sell this particular amp, mostly their less expensive stuff.
But AhB2 is smaller. I have a pair. I am considering Tyrs…but the space and room requirements are a factor. And I think the sound signatures will be very different.
@@goodsound4756 His point is that it's overpriced. Check out any professional builder who uses the Hypex NxC500 for their amps. It's hard to spend $1,600 for an inferior amp. I love that Schiit is assembled in the US. I have a few of their products and love them. But the thinking behind pricing the Tyr where it is doesn't make since.

Nice review. Liked the "no fear" audio samples, even on lossy UA-cam. Wow.
Love the idea of schiit on paper but had soooo many reliability issues with my schiit gear. Had a freya for 2 years and for what seemed like 6 months outta that it was being repaired.
You my friend are very unlucky. I've been buying schiit gear since their conception. I have yet to have one of their pieces fail on me. Lol
Same, no trouble with Schiit. And it’s all been good. Not the best, but so far the best for the money. And the Tyrs are even better.
Schitt rules, have two vidars driving my magnapans LRS and love them
I have a Vidar 2 and will soon order a set of LRS+. Does it really sound that much better with a 2nd Vidar?
Yes it does, I am running the original vidars, not rated for 4 ohms, never had a problem❤
@@stanmyers5994 I thought Maggie's needed a ton of headroom. Is the Tyr powerful enough to have them sing, and/or did you upgrade?
Your best review yet Ron!! Have been waiting for a detailed review on the Tyr's for a while. 🙂
Glad you liked it!
Fantastic stuff as usual, Ron. I’ve been very curious about these amps from someone I trust the opinion of, and here it is. Great insight and review. The creepy South Park keyboard warrior was a nice touch 😂 Thank you, Ron! 🔊😊🎶
Edit: “Probably 632 lbs…Probably” 🤣 Nice….
And you should hear what Schiit does with headphone amps. Mind-blowing value and a virtual smorgasbord of choices.
Thanks.
+1 Yggdrasil MIB
I too am very interested in seeing Ron review the Yggdrasil DAC. I realize many have reviewed it already. But they've changed a lot over the years. And I want to hear Ron's take on it.
I would prefer to hear about the Less Is More version myself. As that seems to not only be the best sounding one, but also the lowest priced one too. Which is practically unheard of in this realm. ✌️
Yes Ron- PLEEEAASE- Yggdrasil LIM vs MIB vs Og (if you can get one) -no reviewer has reviewed any of the new Yggy ‘flavours’ on YT
I second that request for a Skoll review. There is only one on you tube currently.
As Ron said, the Aegir's are smooth operators but you need to ask if that's your goal. I'd rather hear the truth if the amp doesn't add glare or harshness.
Nice video! As an ahb2 owner how do you think these compare?
Ron, I love it! Thank you for the review, you are one of the best on the internet. Can’t wait for the Aegir 2 review once that amplifier is released. Do you think the Tyr pairs well with the Freya+? That’s the pre-amplifier I have. Did you pair it with the Freya S for a reason in lieu of the Freya+? Appreciate the insight.
Great editing. Excellent job!!
Awesome man
I have not seen any reviews of the Bully speakers. I'd think they'd be fun and old school sounding circa 80s/90s party speakers with much improved sound.
Pretty solid and comprehensive review here. I’m excited for the upcoming css and spatial reviews less so with the gr speakers.
these are op indeed but also not good to sell at the same time, real definition of cant stop engineering

Let's just say that Jack has different priorities than audiophiles.
Did I mention his favorite movie of all time is the Phantom Menace and has never watched the original SW series? Probably should have mentioned that.
😂😂😂
Ron a silly question but important for me right now..
Would the Tyrs and Freya+, be a better option than the Hegel H390?
Im running a pair of PSB Synchrony One speakers (next year would be Dynaudio Contour 60i)
Really well done Ron!
Thanks Lee
Review The Van Alstine DVA M225s....same price and power point, half the size of the Tyr
Yes, they're not well known, but I've heard good things about them.
I think I can room for these amps on my audio shelf. 🙂🙂🙂🙂
Thanks for the review! How would you compare these to the Burson Timekeeper GTs?
They punch way above their price range.
it's insane they dont put 12v triggers on these. I just don't want to go toggle a bunch of stuff on my rack every time i want to listen
I bought a netfilter with on/off-switch. Problem solved, gear protected and maybe improved sound.
Bought them, love them, they replaced my 30 year old threshold amplifier. What absolutely unbelievable value
Couldn't agree more!
Not sure, haven’t heard those amps.
Sure did!
The form factor of the TimeKeepers though… 😬
Nice review. i would like to know how they compare to other amplifiers in their price class or something similar. What are the differences to other amps. You compared them to other amps by Shiit but they are not in the same price catagory as the Tyr's. You seem to be saying they are a great value compared to other amps but what are those amps? Thanks for your effort in this review!
Great Review. Very informative so I will be sure to ‘stay tuned.’
Your Opinion Please:
I’d like to get Magnaplaner 20.7’s to run with a pair of Tyr’s & a Freya+.

How feels rp-600m with Tyr?Im looking for Tyrs for my RP-600.And Tyrs runs very hot?

Ron, what are those stands that you placed the monoblocks on? Thanks!
Ron … how would the Caladan’s sound with the Tyr’s and the Shiit Freya + in tube mode?
Man those CSS speakers were really outclassed by the other 2 speakers you used. At least based on the sound clips.

I'm glad that your sound shed is complete. Do you think you will ever do a small speaker review in your old listening space?
Not sure why I would.

How do these compare to the Rotel Michi line? They have the reputation to be neutral but you had the Michi in your previous listening room i believe.
I have the Tyr's powering a pair of NX-Oticas. What DAC and pre would be a good fit? I was thinking a Spring 3 KTE & Serene combo. I'm currently using a cheap chifi DAC within integrated volume control and that needs to go.
Perhaps a Schiit yiggy and freya+. Love the tube option with the freya+
For those speakers, get Schiit’s Yggdrasil OG. All of their Multibit dacs are great. Even the little Modi Multibit.
Schiit Bifrost for the DAC, no need to shell out for the Yggy. Black Ice Audio F360 for the Pre.

With a set of Fortes and an Anthem MCA 225 g2, I shouldn’t ever need another amplifier. But I want these.

YES, YOUR BEST VIDEO TO DATE.

Honest question:
The Tyr is rated at 200W into 8 ohms.
Its little brother Vidar 2 can be used in Mono mode, then rated at 400W into 8 ohms.
I guess the Vidar 2 still doesn't have the oooomph of its bigger brother, but I don't get the 2x power output of Vidar 2 in Mono compared to Tyr.
Anyone?
It’s a false claim
I didn't know you were a cowboy never met your cow girl😅😅😅😅
expensive amps and speakers sound good, copy... got it.
Would be 30 days in EU that's the law
If you want to return it within 15 days, there is a 5% restocking fee charged for this unit by Schiit, plus cost of return shipping. But still reasonable IMO.
Restocking Fees are against the law.
@@goodsound4756 In the USA? Is that a federal or state law? Never heard of it. Note that the fee is not charged for defective items.
@@goodsound4756 I found this information about restocking fees:
"There are some instances where retailers charge illegal restocking fees. Although state laws vary, restocking fees are generally illegal if:
1. They are being charged in connection with the return of defective merchandise;
2. They are being charged because the retailer delivered the wrong merchandise;
3. They are being charged because the retailer failed to deliver the merchandise within the promised time period;
4. They exceed 50% of the purchase price of the merchandise; or
5. The restocking fees are not adequately disclosed to the customer."
The Schiit restocking fees are disclosed and are for when someone tries out the product for some period of time and doesn't like the way it sounds, etc.
That would be illegal under Europe law the company would have to pay for return postage@@Mark-rw3kw
