This interpretation of “no dig gardening” makes me very anxious 😅Although gotta admit its quite creative.
Usually you lay cardboard, then a thick layer of soil/compost/mulch, then you plant your seedlings in that soil. With your method, the soil is basically keeping the cardboard from flying away but I fear it wont contribute to nutrition to your seedlings in any way, since your roots will be stuck underneath the cardboard… Same goes for any amendments you would add later on. Wont feed your plants until the cardboard is disintegrated (likely not before a year or so). Curious to see how it goes

Just a suggestion, it helps to put the cardboard down a little bit earlier to kill off the vegetation. That way your plants won't be competing for nutrients

You did awesome with the window. With the Portugal Sun burning up the veggie plants I suggest that you put shade cloths over the lettuce, tomatoes and any other delicate plants. Pepper plants love the heat but the sun can burn the plant. I enjoyed this video. I love how you're not afraid to try new things and that you get right in there helping and doing the same thing the men are doing. I just love your paradise . P.S. Hello there Maya, Marcos from south Spain here, I will give you some advice, the cupboards that you use for ur garden for should would not be contain colors and sings, they are made of metals and some of them are consider heavy metals, the ones that are very toxic for us and for the enviroment, if they are made for burning the cupboard its ok, but I think the red ones are made of toxic inks, so maybe its not a good idea to use them for ur garden becouse they will pollute the soild and enter in the plants.

I don't know it anyone has suggested this yet, but raised bed gardening does wonders for your yield. It would require lots of soil and wood or railroad ties. We used this method with great results. We rimmed it with marigolds as they help with the pests.

Good morning. It said, add a comment, so this is purely that from a retired English builder regarding in this case window fitting. This in no way a criticism because I don't know your circumstances, but from experience I would have positioned a frame, even temporary if necessary, in situ then on the same principal as shuttering for concrete, spend time making formwork accurate, which is not heavy work, then build up to it with ease instead of making the heavy part heavier than necessary. Loving your spirit. Peace & Best Wishes.

After you harvest whatever cover the area with black plastic weighed down or pegged down. Dig a small trench on the high side so no water can get under it. You will have to sacrifice one growing season but you will be left with amazing weed free soil. The lack of water and extreme heat under the plastic will kill all weeds and seeds.

I gained respect for professional builders working their whole lives like this. You are getting really compétant with all the tools its very empowering. And yes bigger is better for the window because the frames take a lot of space and the standard sizes don't go very small so you end up having to pay for custom window. Bet your're looking forward to an inside bathroom. Its also been cold and raining in France this spring it makes working outside harder. But I a few weeks I'll complain that its too hot 😂 enjoy your week

She already gave the answer in the video. With this method there is minimal disturbance of microbiotics in the soil. And the cardboard will starve the grass and weeds from sunlight, so they will die pretty quickly, turning into compost in place. All in all this is quicker, less labour intensive and environmentally better. The only possible problem is the cardboard blowing away in the wind before the plants are firmly rooted in the soil below.

I also used cardboard to control weeds a few years back in my 'organic' veggie garden only to discover that most cardboard contains a lot of glue and chemicals... ruining any attempt at organics. Just a decision you make for yourself... whichever works best for you☺ By the way, the mushroom looks a lot like a black footed maramius... but I'm not 100% sure because I don't know Portuguese mushrooms at all...
