- I recently sold my old kayak and started fresh on an Old Town 120 paddle kayak. I decided to rig up a 2.5 mercury outboard motor to it. In this video i go through an overview of what i did. With this set up, i am able to get up to 8.5MPH+
Fastest kayak on the water hands down. Nice build.
I have a need for speed 🚣💨
Awesome build bro! I was thinking going electric but after seeing your build, I’m going to copy your design. Thanks for sharing! 🤙🏾 🤙🏾
You have the best looking outboard mount for kayak!! I am gonna adopt your design.
Go for it! If i were to re-do it, i might want to use larger L brackets, better hardware (stainless) and maybe hard plastic instead of wood like 2 layers of 3/4in HDPE cutting board cut to size. Even as is, its a very solid build. Thanks for watching!
Awesome build! Mine is very similar but ended up cutting a hatch in the rear of the back well to install a massive wing nut bolt to secure the motor during pull starts. No pedal drive is rough but covering water is an big plus. Tight lines
Pretty clever engineering.
Thinking out of the box !!!
Thanks!
Nice. The man is a kayak MacGyver 😂 geart stuff bro 🤝🏼🍻.
Lmao that would make for a great channel name KayakMacgyver 😄
@@yakitup805 yeah it would 😂
Going to need hull numbers with the gas motor unless you want to deal with it fuzz..
Yeah i know, planning on registering it tomorrow. Just wanted to test it out to make sure I wanted to keep the motor on the kayak - loving it afterall
Any issue with water flowing in scupper at speed? Have a yak with Suzuki 2.5 and anything above have throttle water sprays thru scuppers. Gonna expiremnt with scupper check/drains
YAk shak has the shift extension for that motor and the 2.5 suzuki motor
Nice! Never seen that
I got a plastic dinghy for motorin' and a kayak for padlin' and nary the two shall meet, but I good effort here anyway
I’m debating going with a trolling motor or gas outboard for my kayak.
@@Jim-K-Baker trolling motor is better if you aren’t going far and want to troll while fishing. Outboard if you’re covering distance 3+ miles
You could always do both
where did you get the steering set up. ? I'm looking to get one.
It is mostly diy stuff from Walmart/homedepot. Aluminum L bracket from homedepot and paracord from Walmart
Brooooo this is exactly what I need to do for mine. Do you have the exact way to put everything together? Like from start to finish?
I actually ended up selling this kayak to upgrade to a hobie but I made a video on how I did the exact same set up on a hobie
@@yakitup805 thanks bro, I wish you made one for the AP136 lol
Shaft length?
15in
where did you purchase the extension for the throttle? and is it an easy connection?
I got mine on amazon and yeah its a easy connection
Enlace del prolongador de direcc , gracias
What’s the speed? 10knots?
7-8 knots
@@yakitup805 still a nice speed!Love it
@@yakitup805 and pretty cost nothing aye!!!Especially the price of fuel now a days
@@yakitup805 niiiiiice
