I believe that the talent is salvation/ the Gospel. We are to share the Gospel and hopefully, according to God’s will, it multiplies when others come to faith in Jesus Christ.
That's a nice interpretation. The only problem or question I have on that is if talent is the gospel, what does it mean for one to have 5 or 2 gospels and the other just 1 gospel? And what does it mean to take the talent away from him and gave it to the one with 10 talents?
Talents here don’t refer to spiritual gifts or to soul winning. No one is condemned to hell for not using their gifts or for not leading others to Christ. However, people are condemned for not doing the will of God. The Talents speak of the level of Christlikeness (I.e. the character of Jesus) within the lives of each believer.
OK but what about a person who hasn't won any souls? What about the souls that got won and didn't have to win other souls or so forth? This explanation makes salvation something to be earned which I thought the Christian church had been teaching is not the case.
@@jeezed2950 they go to heaven. Salvation is a gift. The saved are saved through faith. How many more talents is a soul worth when it is increased by having Jesus quicken their spirit? Burying the knowledge of Jesus’ Gospel in the dirt of this world and continuing to live unsaved bears no fruit. Receiving Him in our hearts is a fine increase to present to the Husbandman upon His return! Then, more souls are won as He works through us to spread the gospel, the more talents increase (and Jesus gets the glory). Never will the saved have to face the wrath, outer darkness, or torments. The saved soul is already the 1 more besides!
Money is not a creation of God but the materials that were used are. What God gives us are talent’s which are gifts that we are to use to help or build What is given freely should also should be given freely.. but the world has made us conform ultimately leaving us in bondage and slavery What’s the need for finances if everything has already been put here for us!
Talents here are not gifts. We cannot earn our love or way into the Kingdom. Our "talent" is our willingness to love and disciple or sow seeds as the end of the parable suggests. The good and faithful servants told others about Jesus while the unfaithful servant kept the gospel to himself. He did not even study the scriptures (bank) and invest in himself because of fear (not from Jesus).
When will you do the parable of the two sons? Ik you did the prodigal 1, but i wanna see the parable of the 2 sons. Its the one where the dad has two boys & he asks them both to do something for him. 1 said no, but did it anyways Other said yes, but didn't
Quick question. You said in point 2 be fearless whereas the gentleman with one talent had something to be afraid of as he was eventually thrown in hell by his master? Could you explain that a little?
He was probably afraid to share the gospel. A spirit of fear is not from the master. If he would have invested the talent into the bank (himself by studying the scriptures and praying) then he would have developed a talent of love and shared the gospel with others. This parable is not about gifts from God. It is about the gift of the gospel that we are meant to share.
This talent is saying to me that the lord gave those men a gift or catalyst to use their own abilities To one 5 To another 2 And to another 1 5->10 2->4 1->1? He praises the other two serves but scolds the one with one The catalyst that he gave the one he buried. Note that he’s not mad at him for not using it he even told him he could have gave it to a holder and he would have gotten it back with paying interest. He has a problem that he did nothing. No creativity no assertive plan no nothing. This is another way of looking at it. I say that for simple fact that in the beginning while there was ore and gold and such it was in the early stages of trade if at all. And Adam had a job or occupation he had something he could better himself in… what was his payment? Update: Adam has a catalyst for his abilities and assignment on earth, his garden and wife. He lost his garden (he was driven out)and probably almost lost his wife. (More than likely potentially based off the rulings passed down )upon them. Take this with a grain of salt 🧂
So were all 3 slaves His slaves? What happened to His slave who did not make good use of the 1 talent, at the end of the parable? The worthless slave was cast into the outer darkness, where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Saying that a Talent= money and then say it means in modern language as actual skills/talents doesn't make any sense. Also, how do we know what our skills/talents are?
Talents(or money) refer to what you are given. It can be your logical skills, art skills, your health, beauty etc. If you waste away, by being a sloth you won't be rewarded or even get punished. Also even if you have very little given(while people around you gave better brains or beauty of whatever), your shouldn't complaint. What you have to do is use what God gave to you (Hope you understand) 🙏
Please consider this.... If we look at 1Cor 4:1 stewards of the mysteries of God....... I had to start at John 11 24-25. If we focus on "I am the resurrection" go to Ephesians 2...I was dead in trespasses and sin...Plainly I'm saying John 5;29 is above ground. (I know I'm resurrected) lying Jews early church "a resurrection of unjust" we believe a person will just die unless they receive the spirit....next subject matthew 20;22 is a baptism of suffering (he will baptize you with fire, not maybe).... Now going above my pay-grade they are teaching me if I died now. I'd sleep then 1000years and alittle season physical resurrection where 144,000 natural born jews will be leading the churches.
Bearing fruit is pretty much always the point of Jesus' teachings. Fruit? Yes multiply your "heavenly value/treasure" to His Heavenly Kingdom. Increase not just your own "value" to Him and all of His brothers, sisters, and morhers who do God's Will, but help grow the initial "mustard seed" kingdom till it fills the whole earth. Looking at the RESULT of Jesus's ministry on earth in Acts 2:45 & Acts 4:32, we can see how "being with Jesus" changes His follower's values. Drastically! (As another note: God is Thee Capitalist in this story not the banker. The investeds did not KEEP their own kingdom production, they gave it back. It's understood that growing God's Kingdom on earth (each according to ability) is accomplished by service). I believe ALL of Jesus' parables are inter-related to His Kingdom of Heaven on earth. They help explain each other. They help us see Acts 2:45+ is the GOAL of Jesus's earthly ministry. FINALLY, The King's Dominion is to be achieved which failed in the Garden of Eden all through history of Israel till Jesus came and made it possible.
The Religion Teacher is mistaken just like many others. The lazy servant ended up in hell so this parable is about salvation not about natural talents that cannot save anyone. Our talents or works cannot save us, therefore the parable is not about natural talents.
Remember this is a parable. The slaves are the Jews who work for God as his choosen people. The only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ. The talents are equal to the entrusted responsibility of glorifying God in his wholeness as the coming of th Messiah to save not just the Jewish people but also the gentiles (non-jews). If the jewish people need Jesus for salvation let alone us gentiles!
least favorite parable. if 'talent' is money, i dislike the parable even more. why would he take the 'talent' from the one, and give it to the servant with 5? why not the servant with 2? is there a sliding scale, what if the servant with 5, didn't bring back 10, but brought back 7, that would make that servant less efficient that the servant who got 2. if it takes a little money (talent) to live, the 'usury' if you will, the servant who was given one talent, didn't have a feeling of security to risk the only one talent, where as the other servants, also only need one talent to live, but they had 'extra' talents that they could 'risk'. ..... i get it, the parable is don't sit and waste your talents that god gave you, just seems like we're missing a deeper lesson here.
This explanation is entirely wrong. The true definition of the talents are they represent our measures of Faith. And faith is empty of the works of faith. And as the bible says 'Faith without works is dead.' And dead faith does not produce the fruit of faith which is our reason for belief in Jesus and without belief we cannot enter into the kingdom of God just like the man in the parable couldn't enter into his masters kingdom and was cast out where there was weeping and gnashing of teeth, the world of sin. So let's see what real faith is and how we fill it with the works of faith that gives us our reason fo belief in Jesus...it begins with repentance. NOT repentance FROM sin but repentance that seeks to know WHY we sin. And when we see the truth to why we sin we can also see the love ALTERNATIVE to sin that we can do instead. And if we CHOOSE to SUBMIT to walking in the WAY of LOVE in TRUTH and ABIDE in the Way of Love it Transforms us to become ONE in/with the love of God the Truth in Jesus Reveals. And when we read the bible and hear Jesus say, "No man knoweth the Son but the Father and no man knoweth the Father but the Son AND Those to whom the Son REVEALS Him." The Love in Truth we have become One in our heart of Faith with gives us a REASON for our belief in Jesus! As I like to say. 'If the love is real then so is He who reveals. And that is why Jesus said check your heart to know if you believe. And that my friend is the true meaning of the parable of the talents.
Absolutely not what the parable is about. The parable is actualy refering to knowing God and His ways. David says Your Word is pure Gold. Christ also said about parables, that He spoke in them so those who have little, will loose the little they have. Same frase as in the end of this parable. Investing talents means applying Gods word into our lives. When we fallow God and obey Him, we gain profit in the form of blessings, and more knowledge of God. With Gods word also come authority. The evil servent claimed God was cruel and gathered where He did not sow. This is refering God judging people on things that are not in the 10 comandments. Gods word and law is seed He sows. But God sometimes judges people for behavior that is not addressed in His law, therefore gathering where He did not sow. He does so because He judges evil behaviour. For example, Christ said to the ones on the left that they did not visit Him when he was sick or tend to Him when He was in need. The 10 comandments speak nothing about that. Alot of this is about pharisee. In the end, God will take away there position as teachers, there knowledge of God, and there authority, and give it to those who are faithfull before Him.

I looked it up, one "talent" back then would be worth around $28000!
That's enough to buy a brand new car
Try this as an explanation... No matter what you are given, you are enough.
