I just purchased this same scope for my Mosin scout build. I was given a Mosin years ago as a present, but the stock was cracked. Cut the barrel to 22" and glass bedded into a Boyd's stock.
I purchased the same setup, and put on a Boyd's stock, but did not like how it handled. With this scout scope did you feel like you had to pull your head up off of the stock some? Maybe I need lower profile rings (currently 1" like this video). Any help appreciated.
I just got done cutting mine down and putting a recessed crown on it. I'm looking at optics now and am thinking of the same scope. I was wondering if there is enough room and eye relief to mount directly on the dovetail? I would love to not have to use a dovetail adapter.
First. Keep up the good work. I've been watching you for a couple of years from another channel. I do a small amount of gun stuff as well on my channel.
how has the Vortex Scout worked out for ya so far mounted on the ol Mosin? mainly has it been able to handle the recoil?, reason I ask is because I'm wondering if I should even bother grabbing one for my Mosin scout build. I've had the Vortex Scout before mounted on an old sks of mine that worked good I'm just a little apprehensive of the Mosins kick.
With the minor testing I've done so far it appears to be holding up well. But I haven't had a chance to put a large number of rounds through the rifle.
so this would be a good forward mounted scope? i dont want to have to lean over the action to get a full sight picture. the scope i have dont have eye relief and it looks like im looking through a pin hole. its going on a k31 swiss.

How is the eye relieve at 7 power? I plan to use one of these on my Persian Mauser. I wonder if it has enough eye relieve at 7 power.

I have S&K mount with this scope, this far everything has been working well. Mosin kick is not very "sharp" due the weight of rigfle.

Yes it's designed to be mounted forward of the action. Eye relief is somewhere around 9.5 inches.
awesome! thanks for the reply.
R.I.P mosin
Scope review at night...
Nice review. I think that scope could nicely pair with some See-Thru Scope Rings to be able to use iron sights with the scope mounted.
That poor mosin
It's breaking my brain that you turned a mosin into a scout rifle :)
First and second. Woot.
