@@thederevolutions Yeah, I thought so. Though I find sad to give credits to Astrud, a mere interpreter, over Vinícius the poet. Only if she had half of the talent of her contemporary singers.

Agreed on that first point. Ana Karina grew up listening to her though, and took offense to the second point. And I plead ignorance because I can't understand the words. But we appreciate the reminder. Make us a mixtape! Send it to thederevolutions@gmail.com or post it here for everyone and I'll pin your comment (after I delete my own).

@@thederevolutions No offence, please. I just thought it was important to give credits to the right author. Particularly with all the bossa nova legacy, a style that was most popularised by intrpreters, (not only Brazilians, but Americans as well), who built most of their lives and careers on music composed and written by other (genius) people, who little recognition received, next to those over played records boosted by American labels. Unfairly, 60 years since the diffusion of bossa nova, artists like Astrud still get so much attention. Astrud certainly deserves recognition for her work as an interpret, but nothing else. Both her fame and name is all thanks to João Gilberto, the master architect of this whole thing. As far it is known, she never wrote a verse in her life. So, giving her credits for Vinícius's work is a shame. Not to mention her (outrageous) affair with Stan Getz, another opportunist who got his millions and fame, after recording Jobim's music - who by the way is the actual composer of this song (Água de beber)
Please give credits to Jobim as well. Thank you.
And thanks to The Derevolutions for the tribute.

@@felipepipi1780 no offense at all, was sorta joking... we know and agree with all of that. and can certainly sympathize with artists not receiving the recognition they deserve. but don't forget the importance of muses and their positive influence over the arts/sciences/life etc (even einstein!). also i'd call stan gaetz one of their biggest fans, before calling him an opportunist. but I think we're exactly aware of what you mean. i hope you and others enjoy our interpretation of this classic song. make us a mix!
