    I was super stoked when I saw these new features, seriously a huge game changer. I might even offer black background sessions again since editing won't take a whole day...LOL!

    Great video Shelley. I agree these new features In Lightroom have made my work so much easier. I cannot believe how intelligent the AI is! I find that I do not need to go to PS nearly as much as before even for standard portrait retouching.

    Hi Shelley, thank you for the virtual tour. I'm always torn between the need to keep it real and being far more artsy and creative. Oooh, there's plenty of scope. Thank you so much for sharing.

      I think as camera and editing technology progresses, we are going to have to ask ourselves these questions more and more! And one person's "too much" might be another person's "not enough." I often remind myself when I see an image that seems overbaked in my opinion, it's not wrong, it's just "not for me." 😉

    Thanks for this! How do I save the new image with the black background as a new, stand alone image ?
    When I save image the black background disappears. Thanks

    • @shelleypaulsonphotography
      @shelleypaulsonphotography  3 роки тому

      Make sure you aren't using just the masking style of blacking out the background. You have to mask the subject, invert it, and then lower the exposure of the area around the subject. This tripped me up too, at first. I thought that masking style would instantly give me a black background but it's just for visualization.

    I am looking at buying the R5 what do you think about it? Particularly the bar on the back the camera.

    Hi Shelly thanks for sharing always interested in knowing but I struggle with how much we change to create perfect. It sets a barometer of people expecting perfect. What's wrong with keeping it real. I so appreciate all you share

    • @shelleypaulsonphotography

      I've actually been thinking about this a lot lately - where is the point where we over-perfect our images and the life goes out of them. For me, these tools let me bring an image more into balance, the way my actual eye would see it since cameras can't yet capture a full dynamic range of color and light. By using these tools, we can better draw our eye to our subject and bring out the best the image has to offer. For me, I want to always be asking myself "is this too much? Does it still look believable?" and if the answer is no, then I dial it back. Really great question!
