  • I wasn't even CLOSE to sane before recovery, but I'm on the right track. Also, some thoughts of why I almost didn't continue this series.

I certainly understand how you might feel, and totally support your right to share or not. Explaining the 12 steps, in my opinion, does not breach anonymity of the group process, nor are you sharing anyone else's private thoughts. However, to me, it is like trying to find mental health, when the world denies and doesn't want to talk about mental illness. If we don't talk about it, perhaps others who might need this message, won't hear it. In the areas of all mental health, it is so difficult to help people get the assistance they need because of the stigma around it. Your honesty is refreshing. I thank you. Namaste.

Hello, I'm glad I found your channel. . I had gained control of my alcoholism for around 3 months, I thought to myself I could control having a drink or 2.... now I'm back to daily drinking...

This is interesting, and the reason I say that is because my first ever attempt at sobriety last exactly 90 days. I find that point to be one of two things. 1) the first crucial step in a life of recovery or 2) false sense of "control" hidden under the belief that "no real alcoholic would abstain for 3 months". The hard part of the process is that no one can give it to you, you have to want recovery and fight tooth & nail for it. I wish you luck, but know this, the only way is a life of complete and total abstinence, anything else can't last. Wishing you luck, sending you love & light.

IMO, I hope you continue. Here is the thing: there are so many lurkers and loners, that you can help with this. It may very well lead people to AA, that might not otherwise go. My partner smoked a few packs a day and went cold turkey and hasn't smoked in over 2 decades, now, I realize it's not the same, but my partner attributes not falling back into smoking with being honest about wanting to do it, acknowledging it, then letting it go. Maybe having the mindfulness to acknowledge that vulnerability but not act on it is a component of being able to see it, but not be part of it.

the 11th tradition states our public relations is based on attraction rather than promotion.....
there 12th tradition teaches us about principles be fore personalities...
in other words I can say I wad at a meeting but I can not say you were there. I can tell my story but I can not tell your story
