Getting a little bit tired of all the negative comments below. I have a disco, before I got it I learnt to fly a normal RC plane, then built a FX61 phantom flying wing and set it all up with similar features to the disco, the problem was reliability and the collective cost of all the mods and parts. Self builds are all good and well but they are unreliable and as a result can be more dangerous than the disco. Not everyone who decides to splash out on a disco is some crazy DJI phantom crasher. Stop with the "oh look a newbie, I am so high and mighty" comments. It puts people more sensible than some of the commenters off the hobby altogether. Enjoy your flying, help newbies, don't attack them.

Why is everybody complaining? This wing isn't for me either, but to see how far technology has come is Incredible! I hear a lot about people buying these and putting our safety at risk, but this is about the safest thing there is. Remember, it's hardly ever the manufacturers fault and more to blame on the user when it comes to safety concerns.

You can't rely on technology to operate itself, a competent pilot should be at the controls because if there's a glitch or malfunction, and the pilot has little to no experience actually flying an RC aircraft then worst case the thing crashes into a car or home or person and it looks horrible for the rest of us that don't NEED technology to keep control over our aircraft. At the very least it something happens and the pilot is incompetent then he crashes is and it costs him or her alot of money that they wouldn't have to spend if they had the experience of flying these.

I cant buy it either. But Damn it looks gorgeous. i'd definitly buy one if I hade the money. And it looks like my favourite plane the B2 Bomber. A little bit.

I don't have the time to screw round with hotglue, foam & stuff, these off-the-shelf UAVs make my job that much more enjoyable and efficient.
This is really a fascinating project and so good to see this level of design going into a wing platform. Can't wait for more on it
I don't get why this has so much hate, I know it isn't for most of flite test's audience but it is still an interesting development in the hobby, and gives us an example of the kind of tech we can expect to be available for hobbyists in a couple of years time
Drinking my morning coffee and binge watching drone reviews. This one seems a bit noisy but I LOVE the FPV option and what seems to be a long flight time. I'm no pro but that'd make me run out and splurge on this as I've spent almost a year deciding which to buy. Judging by the comments on here, drone pilot pros gripes seem to be a regular schmo like me'll fly it irresponsibly. Yeah that could be a drawback, but for the pros, I would think it would make your skill set standout and be in high demand, making yourselves more marketable for professional hire - like anything else that flies (helicopter pilots, airplane pilot, etc.). I admire you.
Its truly amazing how far technic has come!!
Embrace change! We wouldn't be where we are at now in the hobby if people (companies) didn't go that extra step and see what possibilities are out there. I cannot understand the negative comments. This is technology at its best. Embrace and stop moaning. If you cant afford it or don't want to fly an autonomous aircraft go back to your model club and continue to enjoy your hobby but don't judge those that love new advances in technology. Obviously people should use this responsibly but I can assure you there will have been a lot more crashes and accident in the past and going forward with people trying to fly conventional RC models. Yes we all know you have to learn and and fly this in the right place but come on this is fantastic technology. We have seen in it in Quad copters but now fixed wing that is great.
I learned to fly from inside a plane... I can’t fly rc stuff... only the disco in vr/fpv.
What still amazes me is still how fast technology is advancing in this hobby and how this increase swiftly becomes affordable. Things are changing so fast have yous considered doing a 10 year retrospective to show ho fast this has happened. Thanks for all the great content but especially for showing you can still be real fun and decent human beings while doing it.
Even within one year price of motors, fpv camera tech, and technology going into goggles etc has improved. Going back 10 years would be crazy.

It is an interesting product. Like so many others, it is out of my price range and I don't know that I would like an aircraft with that much flight assistance. But, then again, I might. I look forward to the in depth review.

After crashing my fx61 flying wing after a servo failure the disco looks tempting. I like to build as much as the next person but the disco has everything and you can plug in your own rx and tx and fly manual if you get bored of autopilot help. Just wish there was a4k camera version :(

Good work by Parrot to produce this "toy". This looks like a solution to a problem they are trying to find. It is not a sports wing and not a camera platform. I guess I will wait to see what it is useful for, as I think it is a great product, just no real applications yet. If I want to shoot quality video I will use my DJI Phantom. If I was sports flying, I will use my $200 wing. If I want a bit of both, I will use my Quad.
I would love to see you guys take this thing a part and put different foam body(wings) on it and see if it still flies well.
So Josh... you going to do this for under $100 as a scratchbuild?

If it for beginners, maybe not. But if it's for beginners they should bring that price WAY down unless the beginners their aiming for are either professional athletes playing like football, baseball, basketball, or maybe soccer (that last one is for international soccer players who are more likely to make the kind of money football, baseball, and basketball players make in this country) or for kids whose parents are multi-millionaires and up. The way Josh is describing it, and the way the controller looks in his hand, it sounds like a video game brought to life to me. I'm a beginner and right now am more on the toy end of the hobby. Unless this thing was like $10 to $20 bucks, even if they made it more affordable I'd rather stick with what I have now as it's more fun than this thing sounds.

A spot-on drone for me.
In Slovenia, there is a dude selling one used for €270.
Good thing is that a flying wing is way less dangerous than a Phantom.
Only 1 prop instead of 4, placed at the back so not the first to hit, and also the aircraft is much lighter.
Planes won't even notice they've just split one in half if a collision happens.

So, only people who, like you, are obviously not idiots should be allowed to fly? Flying should be so difficult that only clever people (like you, obviously) can do it? How does someone who wants to fly prove that they are not an idiot? And how does an inanimate object (the Parrot Wing) display traits like stupidity?
it's not that this tool is bad. but the fact that when something is made easier it brings in more people, which is good, but the easier it is, the higher the percentage of those new people will not know what they are doing or will abuse the tool and do things they shouldn't

The price tag isn't that bad, if you consider having to buy a radio, HD camera/VTX, plane, GPS (lets choose Vector), have it ready assembled with battery included. Add on a $300 premium and you're close to their advertised price.
I would think it's a good price for something RTF and relatively idiot proof. Yes, you can make something cheaper but it would costs you more to get there. I have spent more than 10x this plane on RC hobby alone - of course i also had a lot of fun along the way :)

I saw one of these in the shop here in france the other day for 250 euros. Perhaps there are different versions. This vid seems like an add and I have a feeling that this thing would be a little harder to handle then we are being led to believe here.
You tell everyone you can fly a 747 but in reality all you do is hit the auto pilot button and it takes off, flies and lands for you while you sip on some wine. That is not flying. Where is the fun in that. I remember my thumbs shaking nervously while flying a quad and plane for the first time. The best feeling in the world is nailing the flight and landing knowing it was ALL YOU!!!. Keeps you coming back for more and making you a better pilot.

This doesn't really seem like *the* product (or pricetag) for a beginner.. If you're into aerial videography though.. Or just have this kinda $$ to spare on a toy.. Nothing wrong with that offcourse..

according to Parrot support flying in anything over 90°F "could be damaging" so the 110°F isn't recommended and may not be covered by warranty if it fails. Also there is no warranty if you dont have a receipt directly from an "authorized retailer" so if you buy from Amazon or eBay or receive as a gift there is no warranty period. that's directly from Parrot on over a dozen calls to support.

why do you call quadcopters "drones" but not this thing?
Because quadcopters only got that moniker thanks to the general public's (and the media's) affinity for buzzwords and layman's terms. It's basically the same as the whole "assault weapons" debacle. Ironically, Parrot themselves contributed to this confusion when they released their first quad, the AR "Drone". Throw in tons of air time on TV talk shows during Christmas, and its no wonder that so many use the wrong terminology. In fact, I'm sure they're at least 50% responsible for this problem. Nowadays, you can't even market, sell, or talk about multi rotors without having to dumb down the terminology to the simplistic word "drone" so that the general public can "understand" what it is they're looking at, buy it...and start flying with no training. *cringe*
Got to admit that I like this machine. I don't think I will ever buy one (unless I suddenly have serious amounts of spare cash) but it can be FLOWN as the roll showed.
Only one I've seen in any of the videos of the Disco.
I agree it isn't one for the purists though (but I'm not one)

There's way to much wifi around my area for something like this to work..
the last wifi based radio system I had I lost communications about 50ft out.
Does it have a "acro/rate" mode? It looks like you are flying in some kind of attitude mode?
Almost like they figured out if you make it fly for anyone they can put a ridiculess price on it. $1299. What average person can just go out and buy one of these?
The same folks that buy Phantoms because they don't know there are way better Quadcopters and Multicopters around.

Do some research, check RCGroups.com(biggest RC Community on earth) then you know the P3 and P4 are riddled with issues. Also try to fly it above 5 Beaufort winds and u know it definitely sucks. To the other suggestions I've made in the comments

+Tigerlie I'm with you, look at what DJI Phantoms did, I always say it did a good and a bad thing, the good: making drones accessible (skill wise) to anybody, the bad: making drones accessible (skill wise) to anybody (yes, that dupe is on purpose). Look at drones crash compilations, they are mostly Phantoms or similar. The same thing is going to happen with this wing hurting hobbyists around the globe. People flying it on populated areas or without regard got safety measures just because it's "easy".
I am sorry but that is an elitist I don't want to share attitude unless you had to learn everything I did. The simple fact is this you have failed to consider the most important reason in probabilities. The reason you see so many Phantom type or intelligent drones in incidents is because there are more of them than the other types. If you can find any analysis that shows that because these guys fly intelligent drones they will be involved in more incidents you might have something but the reality is this more dangerous uncontrolled fly offs occur on non intelligent drones and has nothing to do with the skill of the pilot.
***** My gripe with Phantoms and others alike isnt the machine itself, but the fact that many found them so easy to fly that they fly carelessly over people and some times over private property, my fear is that this will happen too with this wing. And when an accident occurs (its matter of time), the effects of new regulations and laws will be felt by all pilots out there (including of course the one that fly safely).
Dropped to £349 on Amazon. Very tempting indeed.

Wow that is crazy never thought I would see the day when you didn't have to know how to fly RC to fly RC.. I am a 30+ year RC pilot back from the days when we didn't even have ARF's and I think this is awesome not only can you get young interest into RC flying you can make FPV fun for the old codgers like me. Man wished I could get a free one to test, guess I need more than 136 subs huh LOL !!!

When they first announced this last year I couldn't wait to get my hands one. Now that I've seen the final product and the price i'll go waste my money on something else
I own a bebop 1, so I can say for a fact that the cool advanced features will need to be purchased thru the app.... 1299 is just the cover charge.
I do like adverts to be disclosed so I know not to waste my time but it looks like you had fun so you get a pass

They use a wifi connection for both the video and the controller radio? Then the range must be very limited, no?
what would happen if the battery is about to die or dies during flight, will it emergency land or warn you?
had mine for almost a year it crashed and i emailed disco...they sent me a brand new one...great warranty.....
