Might have to research all the books written about her under the circumstances in order to make a movie that’ll be an epic cinematic masterpiece for theatre screens.
What was the title of the book you got on her, and should it along with all the other ones written about her be combined together for a movie that’ll someday become an epic cinematic masterpiece?
I was born in the 60s and we were told the story of Mary and how she stopped the killing of twins. The missionaries where good in the 60s down to the 80s but these days we have these missionaries abusing our children sexually. God help us all
I believe the commandment to "not take the name of the Lord your God in vein" means we should not do evil in God's name. Those doing evil things in God's name will face a punishment far worse than anyone else.
I grew up in Calabar Nigeria and Mary Slessor was taught in schools. My grandfather and brothers attended the school Rev. Hope Waddell built. Do you have a book you read this history?
I read a few different books and interviewed some people who grew up in Calabar. I would love to hear your perspective as someone from this area. Mary is one of my favorite historical people!
@@Churchhistorypodcast I do not mind..I'd tell you the little I know about her from what I learned in school. She is my favorite because I am a twin and she saw twins as special, not evil and for that I am eternally grateful
My oldest son is thinking about possibly writing a script for a screenplay for an epic movie for theatre screens about her life. It’s just one of those stories that needs to become a cinematic masterpiece.
I am a Nigerian and a historian a lot of lies were told about missionaries in West Africa. Not all missionaries supported colonialism. In fact you can't talk about struggle for independence without mentioning white missionaries who trained and moblized the people who championed the course of African independent. The demonization of missionaries is not something we do in Africa an average Nigeria knows great missionaries our favorite is Pa Sydney Elton. Although from England but had no link with the British imperialism.
I love the CEF book Run Ma Run. It is written to be used to teach the story to children. It has maps, and a pronunciation guide. They recently upgraded the art work.
That’s interesting to know. However, do you think that maybe actress Megan Follows of the “ANNE OF GREEN GABLES” fame from the 1980s would be a good casting choice for the role of Mary Slessor?
Don't mind them. Mary Slessor stopped killing twins but Igbo-Ora is the twin capital of the world. This is how their Mungo Park discovered imaginary towns
You realise that the last surviving twin she rescued is literarily online on a Nigerian's youtube page. Her descendants are alive bearing witness. You should do more research into ancestral practices of the past before thinking it's all lies.
Good idea, unless someone out there prefers the philosophy of the arrogant newspaper editor who tore up the notes of his reporter, and when asked by the Senator who was interviewed, the editor replied angrily, “That isn’t news!!! This is the west!!! When the legend becomes a fact, print the legend!!!”
How about possibly a movie for theatre screens about the life of the missionary Jim Elliot who perished trying to bring the gospel to a certain jungle tribe?
Thank you for uploading. I have never heard of Mary. Such a blessing! 🩷
thanks she is one of my favorite people in history.
Yes indeed.
Would you like to see a movie version of her life on theatre screens?
Great. Thanks for sharing the in-depth story of Mary Slessor. A great and courage woman of God.
And all the more reason why a movie version of her life needs to come to the theatre screens.
We need to get a movie version of the life of Mary Slessor onto the theatre screens as soon as possible.
Yes!! I agree completely
Youth with a Mission has published many wonderful books about missionaries. One of them is about Mary Slessor.
A book about her life was my first missionary story I received as a child. She has been my hero ever since
I’ve read that one
I’ve read another too
Great woman

I pray for Nigeria now. The Christians there are under great persecution.
I know.

Even missionary work has been perverted
Prob always was
Any thing man puts his hand to, he perverts
Let Jah be LORD
Sounds like that either a few bad apples either slipped through, or a few good apples have gone bad.
How true that is.
Like I mentioned in a prior comment, ‘sometimes a few bad apples slip through, or a few good apples go bad’.

Interesting point.

Onezanya,
Do you want to see a movie version of the life of Mary Slessor on theatre screens?

I am going to look into Pa Sydney Elton and talk about him! Thank you for letting me know about him. He sounds really interesting.
Lol Anothe brainwashed Nigeria believing missionaries came with Good intentions for the locals and indigenous 😂
Hopefully few if any, supported “colonialism”
How horrible a thing is conquering by superior gun power!
Pa Sydney Elton is another historical figure who’s gotta be the subject of a movie for theatre screens.
You got it.
Mary slessor we love you
Your story needs to become a cinematic masterpiece.
What language was Mary speaking to them with? Did she learn ibibio or she had translator?
When Mary first arrived she spent time learning the languages. Over the years of living there, she learned to speak the languages fluently.
Interesting question.
Most intriguing.
Our King was kidnapped by the British and was taken to Calabar. They looth every artifact from the Palace in Benin city
A lot of bad things happened during that time period. This is the story of Marry Slessor. She was not British.
That’s a horrible thing
Ppl need the Lord or are terrible to each other, very quickly.
Sounds like a weird archeological expedition.
As a descendant of Scotsmen, I know just what you mean.
Sounds obvious.
Thank you!
Gladly.
What book about her do you recommend??
I love the CEF book Run Ma Run. It is written to be used to teach the story to children. It has maps, and a pronunciation guide. They recently upgraded the art work.

However, do you think that maybe actress Megan Follows of the “ANNE OF GREEN GABLES” fame from the 1980s would be a good casting choice for the role of Mary Slessor?
This story is highly exaggerated... Alot of lies and misinformation... There was never a cannibal tribe in Nigeria
Possibly.
However, research by archeologists is needed under circumstances.
A movie about the life of Mungo Park would be nice to see on theatre screens as well as a movie about Mary Slessor herself.
Good idea, unless someone out there prefers the philosophy of the arrogant newspaper editor who tore up the notes of his reporter, and when asked by the Senator who was interviewed, the editor replied angrily, “That isn’t news!!! YOU CAN TRANSLATE IN SPANISH GREETINGS FROM ECUADOR
How about possibly a movie for theatre screens about the life of the missionary Jim Elliot who perished trying to bring the gospel to a certain jungle tribe?
Thank you! 😊
Same here!!!!!
