When Bill Paxton died, tornado hunters paid tribute to him by spelling out his initials with GPS coordinates ✌️❤️
I have that picture saved on my computer. RIP to The Extreme.
When did bill die? How'd I miss that?
@@kingjellybean9795 he died back in 2017. Been gone for 7 years now
Bill Paxton...R.I.P.
Phillip Seymore Hoffman also 😢
Michael Crichton.
He wrote the screenplay
My dude that got killed by everything. The Terminator.
@@KikiH5566"Foooood"
And Eddie Van Halen
LMAO when the two girls from the Shining popped up. "I don't want to see these two little bitches" I'm crying. 🤣🤣🤣
RIP Bill Paxton who passed away from a stroke after a botched heart surgery in 2017.
❤
And Phillip Seymour Hoffman 2014
@@kellyadams79 He was also a great actor 👏
Game over man. 😢
@kellyadams79 he could've turned his life around.
@@kellyadams79 that's a terrible comparison.
RIP to Bill Paxton and Philip Seymour Hoffman. This is one of my all time favorites.
As an adult, I appreciate the fact that they made the new woman sweet, instead of a b. That's rare in a movie. She was a really nice lady. Just not right for him, and she respected that.
Yeah. The joy thing about Melissa is that she is NOT used to being in the action
It is a fictional after all 😂
The actor herself seems to be portrayed well in most of the moves I've seen her in.
Considering Billand Jo are azzzholes
I agree. I had a crush on her when I saw it back in the day in the cinema. She deserved better than Bill
"Did they leave the f$&king dog!?" Had me rolling....you can always tell when someone has dogs, they are the first thing we think about.
RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman and Bill Paxton.
"As you wish." ... I lost it. 😅🤣😂
True LOL moment
Jay: “What about the Dog?…….Somebody Better get that Dog!!!”
Later, also Jay: “Damn shame ‘bout dem horses,…….thanks fer playin’. “
"Where's my truck?" and "Cow." will never get old. The level of nonchalance in the delivery..."Just another day at the office."
Cow flying by like "go graze in the field they said, it will be fun they said!"
😂
Heart rates among reactors universally increase when The Shining pops up out of nowhere.
Saw this in the theater back in 96!
This and Independence Day, it seems were the two BIG movies to see that summer. I saw Independence Day but I missed Twister. My GF at the time had Twister on VHS but whenever I suggested we watch it, she'd shrug and make a weird face.
Jackie chan was once said, twister is the best action movie in America ever made!😊
same!
me too, three times
The lady playing Melissa, played star in the lost boys.
I liked her hair better in Lost Boys
@@hollycook5046 me too!
She is also part owner of the Atlanta Hawks!
Damn she is 😘
She was also on an episode of Seinfeld.
Fun fact! The first movie on DVD in the US was Twister.
Yes. Still have my original copy
I love how J recognized Cary Elwes from the Princess Bride. Im glad he enjoyed all the stars in it like Bill Paxton and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Dog almost dies: “I’ll turn this movie off”!!
Horses almost dies: “the damn shame what happened to those horses”😅
I swear😅
The horse….. what about THE GUY WHO GOT SUCKED INTO THE TORNADO?
Rabbit is good, Rabbit is wise!!
One of my favorite movies, in my top twenty just because I think it's the epitome of a summer blockbuster. Every friend I show it to loves it.
This is crazy.
13:05 I wonder if you can imagine what seeing this in a huge movie theater with around 1500 people on a giant 75 foot wide screen and hearing it in extremely loud digital sound was like back in 1996. It literally enveloped virtually your entire view. It was awesome.
It was AWESOME!!
Dante's Peak is a must next!
My top natural disaster movie!! Pierce brosnan and Linda Hamilton are awesome in it!
“As you wish…”

We need to have a STFU counter up on the screen 😂😂😂
I live in Alabama and during the tornado outbreak of 2011, a total of 360 tornadoes touched ground across 21 states with 145 touching down in Alabama alone. It was nuts. I'd seen tornado weather before but nothing like that. The clouds were moving so fast and seemed to be moving in all directions. They were hanging so low they looked more like smoke billowing from a chimney or a fog lifting. It seemed you could almost reach out and touch them and at one point so much hail fell, our yard looked as though it had been covered with a blanket of light snow.
The strongest was an F-5 and did major damage across several counties killing 72 people, left another 145 injured, caused $1.29 billion in damage and became the deadliest tornado in Alabama history. Fortunately, we lived 30 miles west of the damage path but the roof of our home was torn off during the two day outbreak. We were in bed but semi-awake due to our alarm clock when it happened. The noise was indescribable and only lasted 10-15 seconds but it was terrifying. We jumped up to check on our kids but the portion of the roof that covered their rooms wasn't damaged and they were still sound asleep.
Although there was one tree and a few broken limbs downed on our street, no one else experienced structural damage. Our insurance adjuster was surprised the damage wasn't more significant and explained that it was most likely caused by a microburst of wind that could've been blowing around 110 mph. Had it been a tornado, it would've been a F-1 so I can't imagine a F-5 where speeds are measured between 261-318 mph and realize that our damage was nothing compared to what others lost. We know it was a blessing that it was just the roof and thankful beyond measure that we were safe.
Getting flashbacks**
Lived through one of the largest tornados in recorded history. Wichita Falls, terrible Tuesday, April 10th, 1979. I'll never forget the sounds, and how it looked from only a half mile away
I wasn't alive then but I am from Wichita falls and my parents survived being in the middle of it! All that was left of their apartment was the closet they were in.
Omg YES!! As a tornado enthusiast, I’m looking forward to this one! 🤩
Edit: This was the reaction of the century, I had the time of my life with this one. Thank you for checking this out, I loved your commentary as always. 💕👏 Tornadoes are definitely crazy to say the least!
Crazy is an understatement. I've seen what those things will do.
Right at the end of the movie I started laughing, because I happened to remember the Fat Bastard quote, "You know what my favorite Helen Hunt movie is? Twister!"
RIP Bill Paxton but also RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman
"That was awesome!" and "FO-OOOOD", all-time lines! 😂
"You don't have to tell me to go underground. I'd be so under that I'd be a part of the Underground Railroad" - J 😂😂
J! Love your comments! They brighten my day
Wrong moment to take a drink of soda!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
“I would’ve doodoo’d all kindsa times” 🤣
You lnow how you know when it's going to be a better day? Van halen starts playing in your movie
“I would have been so far underground, I would have been part of the Underground Railroad.”
😂
In 1996, when I was in high school, an F5 hit Oakfield, WI. I was safe a few miles from it, but I will never forget the sound it made passing by. Absolutely terrifying.
I don’t even eat thick-cut steak or sunny side-up eggs, but gosh darn do I want a plate every time that scene comes up!
Here I thought I was the only one who thought the same exact thing you have about the steak and eggs.
Don't forget the gravy!
Got to have gravy. Mashed potatoes aren't mashed potatoes without a smothering of gravy. This talk is making hungry. 😊
My mom got through an F5 tornado in Xenia, Oh in the 70’s while she was in college… She was in the gym, saw the roof get torn off and amazingly made it through. She had a love/hate relationship with them ever since! Living in Ohio’s tornado alley, I remember bedding down or eat meals camped out in our bathtub during tornado warnings 😂
The Tornadoes were all CGI.
There wasn't that much demand for CGI in the 90s,so they were able to hire all the best people. Today that would be a financial and logistical impossibility.
It is also why 30 years later the CGI still holds up.
Philip Seymour Hoffman was The Goat. Absolutely phenomenal actor! My favorite character he played with Sandy Lyle from Along Came Polly. 😂
"Jo. Things go wrong. You can't explain it, you can't predict it. Killing yourself wo'nt bring your dad back. I'm sorry that he died, but that was a long time ago. You gotta move on. Stop living in the past, and look at what you got right in front of you."
"What are you saying?"
"Me, Jo."
Fun Fact: There are a total of eight tornadoes in the film.
Casting Notes Fact: This movie reunites Helen Hunt with Bill Paxton who both appeared in Next Of Kin (1989).
Music Enthusiast Fact: Jan de Bont is a Tori Amos fan and decided early on he wanted to include some of her music. Tori Amos filmed a music video inspired by The Wizard Of Oz (1939) in 1994.
Sound Effects Fact: The unique siren sound made by Dorothy is achieved by combining the sounds created by a standard police, fire, ambulance siren control head. These control heads have modes called yelp, siren, and phaser.
Cutting Room Floor Fact: Was shot as an R rated film that featured profanity and grislier wound details. The film was edited down to a PG-13 in post-production which caused additional scenes with Cary Elwes and Philip Seymour Hoffman to be left on the cutting room floor due to content alone.
Exposition Dump Fact: Jami Gertz's role as Melissa Reeves doubles not only as a love interest for Paxton's character, but also as a vessel for exposition. With her character being the only one with no knowledge of tornados or meteorology exposition is "disguised" as her simply being curious while feeding the audience important information about the science behind tornados.
Computer Enthusiast Fact: All of the computers in the movie are Silicon Graphics workstations. This is highly unlikely (albeit not impossible), especially for the main characters' unsponsored team, since the average price for a Silicon Graphics workstation was around $40,000 at the time. ($73,296 in 2022 money, adjusted for inflation). Furthermore, the Silicon Graphics laptop did not exist in reality. It was created specifically for the movie by Silicon Graphics as a prop, and was not actually a functioning computer. Needless to say, Silicon Graphics was a sponsor of this movie.
I really appreciate your facts in these movies, BigGator! I’ve seen ya around in other reactors and you always have interesting facts that are not really well known. Keep it up 👍
You're welcome! 😁
Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍
“Bet money Danny Glover couldn’t outrun this” lmao! Love this movie, another great reaction.
29:00 The sound you’re hearing is intended to be a part of the wind; lion growls were added to the sound mix to give the tornadoes a certain character, making it seem like they were living creatures rather than just wind storms. It’s a psychological effect designed to terrify the audience.
No its really not. Its actually what it sounds like. Ive had one literally outside my bedroom window and it sounded like a fucking monster roaring.
Tornadoes 100% feel like living things.
@@bradkirchhoff5703 I’m talking about the movie and how it was crafted. They didn’t do any sound recordings of any actual tornadoes close-up. The sound mix for the film utilized lion roars to enhance the sound of the tornadoes.
"they be like yo mud smell funny" holy shit im dying hahahaha, my guy
Honestly, Melissa is one of the most patient women I’ve ever seen. She was nice, she understood the past relationship, she didn’t get angry. Not sure I’d be the same lol
I grew up and live in Oklahoma. A true Okie stands outside and watches the tornado. I’ve hung out with professional storm chasers and they are NUTS! Also, my dad had the same 96 Red Dodge Ram and we named it Dorthy. Every time I see that truck I think of my dad.
That is so cute.

Born and raised in tornado alley in south-western Oklahoma my friend. Seen some crazy stuff! And no, insurance will never cover even 5% of what people truly lose during these hand-of-God storms most of the time unfortunately.
You will never run faster in your life until you beimg chased by a tornado, it could be Dracula, Godzilla, don't matter if a tornado chasing you quadraplegics will find muscles to make them move, im on a cane but if a tornado chasing me im passing Jessie owens
when you mentioned Danny Glover I pictured him running from the tornado with his arms pumping and his legs not cutting the mustard 🤣
Me daughter was 8yr old when this awsome movie came out ,she was absolutely blown away by it,still one of our favourites today , gana enjoy this with me favourite reactor on UA-cam
3:47 They ARE going on a happy adventure. They are tornado chasers!✋
Yes:)
This movie was a favorite when I was a kid and growing up, any time it was on TV I watched it. I remember going to Universal Studios in FL when I was a teenager and they still had the Twister Effects display set up that basically recreated the practical and physical effects they used on set for scenes where it was supposed to feel like they were in a tornado. It was really cool!
I lived in Kansas when this came out. Scary!
The Twister ride at Universal Studios was amazing.
I was 12 when I got to experience the Twister attraction in Orlando. Loved it.
I still wonder how they were able to make all that possible lol..
Love this movie So Much❤❤❤ RIP Bill Paxton & Phillip Seymour Hoffman
I love this movie. I particularly love that with the sound effects/growls, they make the tornadoes as if they are a living thing
Probably the best natural disaster movie!
Twister. Let’s gooo. I did hear part 2 coming soon. Aaayyee
This movie is one of my favourites, glad to see your first time reaction to it.
Also, Bill is more of a Smell the air type of person, rather than smell the dirt.
lmao, if J were in this movie, he would not make it to the end. Twister wouldn't get him, his heart would just be like "Alright, I"m out." and he'd just drop dead.
I watched this movie so many times as a child I broke the vhs 😂 and I STILL would watch it on repeat 😊
YES ❤❤❤❤ YOU GONNA LOVE THIS ONE, J !!!! LETS GET IT!
R.I.P Bill Paxton and the Guy who plays Dusty i forget his first name but his middle and last name is Seymour Hoffman
Philip
Theres a channel on the tube of a very unique Tornado chaser named “Pecos Hank” . His footage is absolutely amazing and his commentary is second to none. Im not a “chaser” or anything but his channel and videos are extremely addicting.
Another banger reaction J 👍🏻!!!!
Man when the tornadoes came through (and tore up) north Georgia years ago the sight was awful. You could see the damage done to the cities while passing by on the freeway. Also I was so close to a tornado while driving a big rig. I was on the road when one came right across the freeway and it scared the s**t outta me!!
Hellz yes!
A true classic! 1 of my faves!
Oklahoma represent!
Glad you kept 'Sweety...your car is in a tree around corner.' One of the best quotes in the movie and most cut it out
I remember forever my friend's quote during this film: "Tornadoes are like ex: they wreck your life, take your stuff and house.. Never date someone who is named after Tornado"
If you ever wanted to be a storm chaser like me but are totally terrified of tornadoes there's two games on steam that lets you be Storm chasers.
1. storm chaser
2. Tornado research and rescue
Oklahoma girl here. No thanks. . Ha
Oklie girl here too
I raise horses. But I old live where there hadn’t been one. Ever, but I watched them go by. The sound.
❤ it when you recognize people from other films. Cameron! Shows how much you love films and appreciate good performers.
Michael Crichton wrote this and Jurassic Park. I didn't realize that until i saw his name on your screen. Cool.
❤❤🐶 🐕
Bill Paxton's characters have been killed by the terminator, xenomorph aliens, _and_ a predator.
James Cameron cast him in _The Terminator, Aliens, True Lies, Titanic,_ and he and Jeanette Goldstein appeared together in _Aliens, Titanic,_ and _Near Dark._
Hey, Murder Whistle: we've got cows!
RIP Phillip Seymour Hoffman
Yes that's why bricks movie is called the f5 he basicly tornados you in mid air
I love how your number one priority is always the dogs wellbeing.
20:02 This is Todd Field, who is an American filmmaker and actor. He is known for directing In the Bedroom (2001), Little Children (2006), and Tár (2022), which were nominated for a combined fourteen Academy Awards. Field has personally received six Academy Award nominations for his films; two for Best Picture, two for Best Adapted Screenplay, one for Best Director, and one for Best Original Screenplay.
Yes that is why Brock's finisher is called the F5. He even had a T-shirt that had a weather vane shaped like F5 in a storm
This film was an absolute ride. I’m glad that you shared your reaction. Also i want to share some facts.
° The film was nominated by 2 Academy Awards for Best Visual Effects and Best Sound Mixing.
° Steven Spielberg, James Cameron and Robert Zemeckis were considered to direct the film.
° Before Bill Paxton took the role for Bill Harding, some actors who were considered to portray the character were Tom Hanks, Mel Gibson, Kevin Costner, Dennis Quaid, John Travolta, Richard Gere, John Cusack, Nicolas Cage, Bruce Willis, Val Kilmer, Kurt Russell and Michael Keaton.
1) lol i love the timing of the dog in the background diving under the covers as the lighting struck on the film at the beginning,
2) I think with Jo staring up at the sky i think it goes back to when she is young and trying to figure out where things go in an F5 and if god is really up there because i am pretty sure they never found her dad's body after being sucked up like that
Highlight of this review: “Bruh, didn’t you say you had liability?”
Facts couldn’t hit harder 🤣🤣🤣
You liked the movie Taken, you should watch "Law Abiding Citizen" it is really good like Taken.
Better!
agreed i hated the ending though i wanted clyde to win so bad..fuckin jamie fox had to ruin it. I mean like if we get technical about it yea clyde won cause jamies character had to abandon his principles for clydes making clyde right, but I really wanted to see what would happen if clydes plan worked come to think of it that would make for a great "what if ?" episode
Titanic wishes it was a disaster movie like this
I live in Midwest City, OK, near Moore, OK...where we've experienced F5 tornadoes... twice! Terrifying but so amazing & today's storm chasers are super high tech. So necessary and appreciated. Thanks for this reaction!
I lived in MWC for about 15 years. I miss it, but I don't miss the constant air traffic from Tinker. I lived there when the 2013 tornadoes hit Moore and El Reno. It was surreal and terrifying and heartbreaking.
THE EXTREME !!
The movie is definitely summer popcorn fun. The ride at Universal Studios was a blast. I'm sorry they got rid of it.
Is "Summer popcorn fun" a synonym for "Trash"?
I agree about the ride. Was bummed when they got rid of Back to the Future also.

I saw this movie on opening weekend while I was in Truck Driving school.
The Tanker Truck scene still gives me nightmares to this day.
Never forget, There’s a Driver in that truck, who was in the process of experiencing the worst Death imaginable. I’m always amazed at how few people even realize this until I point it out to them.
Fun fact. The largest tornado ever recorded was over 2 1/2 miles wide. Made the one at the end of the movie look tiny. Don't live in Oklahoma.

Ohhh wow jay,,, You're watching this movie right in the middle of Tornado season.😂
That last scene where they hung on to the pipes.. Imagine what a sand blaster does. That would happen to them.
Shine on. Shine on.
I saw this at the drive in when I was little , it was the last movie there before it closed permanently and I’ll never forget the big trees around the perimeter blowing in the canyon wind . Beautiful memory of my childhood with my mom and dad; my mom passed away recently from brain cancer and I’m so grateful for movies and the tons and tons of memories I had with my mom to look back on today and hve reminders of like this. Thanks for doing this movie and giving me a hoot reminder today of my amazing mom.
Horizontal rain I believe means that the tornado itself is rain-wrapped and therefore extremely difficult if not impossible to see and predict where it's heading.
Two things that made no sense in this film (just two examples): 1. WHY DIDN'T JO'S DAD JUST LET GO OF THE DAMN CELLAR DOOR? 2. How come their pick up truck stayed on the ground when there was farm machinery and a fuel tanker flying through the air over their heads?
I think Jo's dad was afraid they would all get sucked out if they door opened. Yeah, the truck should have been sucked up. Hollywood.
Bro they were less than a hundred feet from an F-5 tornado at the end. The bigger question is how the hell did they not get get shredded from the debris?
Jo’s dad was a real one. He was protecting his family the best he can. A tornado can suck people out, plus the debris can kill people. I think he was just scared and trying to protect his family
The tanker was already flying. I assume tanker was lifted from closer to the eye. Also wind is funny it's not a wall of steady wind. Kinda like tiny tree not damaged across the street from a massive uprooted oak that just had tornado rip through...also because it's a movie lol
How about opening truck doors when blasting through a corn field.
one of my favorite 90s films! so many to enjoy from this era. terminator 2, jurassic park, speed, independence day, twister, the matrix, scream, the mummy, titanic, the lion king, and so many more that brought a lot of fun to the theater.
Ok, you had me rolling with Underground Railroad bit. 😂😂😂
This was one of my top favorite movies as a kid. I lived in Tornado Alley decades ago, so it was so cool to see a movie about tornadoes.
Whoever on patreon is recommending this man to watch twister right now. You are the null1 in that fanbase and you need to start pushing him to watch more of your movie taste because twister is one of my all time. Childhood favorites, please give us more from this era. Please watch a movie called multiplicity. Starring, Michael Keaton, you will not regret it. Thank you for this
