    Really cool to see another TA car with the exhaust running through the car enabling a flat bottom! I'm doing the same thing on my Time Attack build.

    That's close to 180hp per cylinder. Pretty crazy. Looks like a nice smooth power band too. I bet that thing is quick on the track. Nice setup!

      you also have to consider it's a time attack car, so at those loads it would normally be seeing crazy speed and with that comes a ton of air flow

    Actually... Some Evo 8s had the active center diff too. And the 4g64 came from the non turbo convertible 2g eclipse

    • @Laser92dsm
      @Laser92dsm 8 років тому

      Also, some 94 Galant's came with them as well. The Galant ones are more desirable because they were made with dual cam heads and the water jackets match up perfectly to a turbo 4g63 head.

    What up with the headers? Isnt it better if they are straight as possible so there is more flow?

    • @Tobberobbe97
      @Tobberobbe97 8 років тому

      +R 34 Whilst you're almost correct, you're not:
      Shortest possible headers are best as to reduce turbo lag, but having equal length exhaust runners to the turbo helps spool too. It's kind of a compromise, the best possible would be if you have short yet equal headers.

    I honestly would prefer the GTX vs GTW in this situation. It seems to hit sooner and only came up 60hp short vs the GTW. Also, 29psi isnt that much boost for these turbos. I make 30psi on my stock 05 turbo on Pump 92oct! This setup shud push around 35-40psi on E85 and make about 800whp

  • @danisaelwm

    Very knowledgeable guy. Lost me when he started talking about stroker, de-stroking etc. jaja

    • @MechRider89
      @MechRider89 8 років тому

      +danisaelwm lol its very basic, He took a block with longer bore lengths, put longer rods in and a crank with less rod throw, along with pistons that have the wrist pins moved closer to the combustion chamber.
      Basically a stroker just changes how much cylinder volume you have, you take in more air and fuel mixture for a bigger bang, it mainly benefits low end performance. With large turbo's you tend to loose that low end and usually some mid end performance so stroking an engine's what people do to get that low end power back by adding displacement to compensate for the turbo lag.
      Not sure about de-stroking tho, never really looked into it. assume that's for bigger engines like the V8's and V10's

    amazing build no doubt, but to be honest 717 awhp on a dynapack. that's like 600ish on a Mustang dyno, which would be just under 700 dynojet. not hating just clarifying that dynojet numbers are the standard usually. I love the car though he made great choices everywhere.

  • @nonyabusiness8693
    @nonyabusiness8693 8 років тому

    I'm no expert, but it doesn't seem that impressive as far as numbers go. I think a Borg Warner EFR setup would have yielded higher numbers and the transient response of the turbo would have been better for this application. Twin scroll EFR 9180 or 8374? Just my thoughts..

    • @speedacademy
      @speedacademy  8 років тому

      +Mike Chapman You're right, the numbers aren't that great on the turbo but we're thinking the runner diameter on the exhaust manifold may be a bit small which is choking up the turbo, or the exhaust housing is too small. One of either is causing lower power numbers.

    • @everycarchannel623
      @everycarchannel623 8 років тому

      What I've noticed is that EFR's are amazing on the track. But when it's drag racing and other top speed events precision takes the cake.

    Serious question, do you really need 700WHP for a time attack? I mean GT3 cars make like 500HP. Wouldn't it be more beneficial to put that time/money into suspension work and other aero stuff? This is a serious question not a sarcastic comment. lol.

    • @KaMil-gw2qr
      @KaMil-gw2qr 8 років тому +2

      +frankth3frizz you have a point but I believe the idea is you can only strip so much weight, and power can always come in handy. from the looks of it, the body looks pretty decked out, so id assume his suspension is top notch as well.

    • @frankth3frizz
      @frankth3frizz 8 років тому +1

      +Kamil G That's true, I also forgot that GT3 cars have performance governors and regulations. I'm sure Porsche and Audi will make their GT3's over 1000HP with all the tech if there were no regulations. haha. This car is cool.

    • @speedacademy
      @speedacademy  8 років тому +10

      The beauty of unlimited time attack rules is you can make as much power as you can afford. The fastest TA cars at the World Time Attack Challenge are all in the 700-1000+ range

    • @DukeNuggets69
      @DukeNuggets69 8 років тому

      +frankth3frizz you need alot of power to overcome the intial drag that the extreme aero produces , only wrc cars in general have aero that produces downforce at low speeds , time attack cars don't make their fulll downforce under 80 mph for the most so yes it is usefull

    • @Thr33.Sid3z
      @Thr33.Sid3z 6 років тому

      HP is only half the battle especially in Time Attack. Torque plays a major factor in that game, and one cannot make all the necessary TQ w/o having the HP tag along!

      "OMG 700hp evo that cant rev up on G's but I dont know that" "We hoped for more". -_- actually no, the owner just said he hoped for less, he wants a bigger turbine housing to DROP power and get a better curve. A huge pulling top end 700whp motor is pointless in competitive racing
