As much as I hate to say it, but that's the real matrix, we can view it either as a bad thing and a good thing at the same time. For civilization, this system assures us as collective beings to survive, but individually speaking it prevents us to reach our true limit. Like, not all of us are smart and got any clue about what to do and what not to do next, those people are saved by the system. On the other hand, there are those who become way too unsure than they need to because the system tells them to do exactly as they said. To me it's not absurdity at all, it all makes sense. To find meaning, you've got to find love, passion, for something, for anything. You've got to find purpose. If you can't find those things, then make it your purpose to find them. Unfortunately many people find neither of them in life, but by deciding not to live, they end the only change that they've got.
Life is meaningless: *sweats profusely You can create your own meaning: *breathes a sigh of relief That meaning is meaningless: *breaks down in the corner
If there was an inherent meaning, what would give it meaning in the first place? Is an inherent meaning really at all meaningful? Would it give anyone contentment if a meaning was just assigned to you? Ugh.
As someone who stared into the deep abyss of despair and considered ending it all a couple of times in my life, I am grateful I didn't go through with it. My life philosophy has matured over the years and nowadays I think it would be classified as a mixture between classical nihilism and Camus's take on existentialism. Against the universe's indifference and lack of meaning I choose to live my life as a middle finger to entropy itself. Even if nothing we will do will remain life itself took a gamble and went through with it. And if life itself lacks meaning that just means we're given free rein to give it one. All things strive!
“My argument against God was that the universe seemed so cruel and unjust. But how had I got this idea of just and unjust? A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line. What was I comparing this universe with when I called it unjust?” ― C.S. Lewis
@@rajashashankgutta4334 And how exactly might one come to develop such sense of what is just vs unjust in the first place? If not for the experience/conception of both sides, neither one could exist at all. This idea of duality-neatly embodied by the concept of Yin & Yang-is present in anything that can be prescribed an opposite.
That is amazing. Sarcastically, selfishness is what perpetuates the absurd cycle of happiness and sadness. It propels the world to move forward. Without it, we will be truly meaningless. *"Does that mean life is meaningless? Was there even any meaning in our being born? Would you say that of our fallen comrades? Their lives Were they meaningless?"* ~Commander Erwin Smith
The following article was written by Dr. Davidicus Wong from Vancouver and published on June 22, 2012: Love is the core of our lives. It is the purpose, passion and meaning of life. To love and be loved is the point of it all. Yet love, so important and central to our lives, is a complex experience and a confusing word. We mean different things and misunderstand each other when we say, "I love you." Love comes in many forms-as many as the number of humans that have ever lived. I see love as a potential spiritual experience-to see and be seen as we really are-beyond what we each appear to be. To love is to recognize the divine in another person, and with that recognition, dedication, compassion and caring flow naturally. To be loved this way is like coming home, finding your authentic self and discovering that you are not alone. Love takes us deeper into the self yet goes beyond self. It penetrates to the depths of the soul. We love the unique expression of the divine in the other, the other is no longer separate from us, and once that connection between you is experienced there can be no separation. Life is all about relationships, and love is the point of it all. Life is imperfect, we are all flawed, life is unpredictable, and we all make mistakes. We waste our time and energy, we stray from our paths, and we harm each other. Yet love makes it worthwhile and allows us to forgive others and ourselves. Unconditional love is an ideal form of love. It is the perfect, all forgiving love of parents for their children. But even the most devoted mother or father falls short of perfection. We may search our whole lives for the perfect soul mate-one whom we love without judgment or reservation, one who loves us the same perfect way, but we will never find that perfection because we are each human. We must accept and appreciate love just as we have received it in all its human imperfection. It is through us that love is received- and expressed. It is in our lives, through our actions, in our words and in our relationships that divine love is manifest. But, of course, we are human-imperfect, frail and fallible. We do not see clearly-ourselves or others. We love imperfectly and we do not fully appreciate the love that we receive. But that is how we experience love-divine love, unconditional love, compassion and grace-filtered by the passions and hunger of our bodies, clouded by our limited minds and nar-rowed by our little selves. We must not only love the ones we're with. We must accept the love we have been given. This morning, my thoughts began with a prayer of appreciation for love in my life-in the past and in the present, as I have received it, partly through the grace of the events and circumstances of my life and the gifts I have received but primarily through my important relationships. I am thankful for love- perfect and unconditional- as manifest and expressed in my imperfect relationships. I accept and appreciate that love as expressed by my wife in our long relationship, in her concern and care for me, our home and our children. I appreciate the love of each of my children, the experiences we have shared as they have grown and we have all learned, in shared adventures, challenges and memories, in the rituals and routine of our everyday lives that seem endless but are finite. I appreciate divine love through my relationships with my parents, each expressing love in their own ways, with my sister and with my brother. I am thankful for the love received and expressed in my deepest friendships. I am grateful for the gift of my work-and the opportunity to express unconditional love in the care of my patients. The question that even existentialists fail to often consider, is the question of *how life can even have a meaning, when meaning itself is a man-made concept!* Think about it: *2+2=4 for example, is an expression that is only meaningful to humans.* (Atleast as far as we know) So how is it a stretch to think that meaning itself is a man made concept that may not be universally applicable? Isn't trying to comprehend the universal truth with a human brain, similar to trying to use your printer to do math? In a Modernist point of view atleast, this seems like the truth, that there simply isn't a truth that the rational human mind can find about the universe which is itself irrational
I would argue against irrationality-- the universe and its laws exist whether or not apes are around to talk about it. 2 + 2 will still equal 4, because given the premises, the following is experimentally verifiable.
noobtotale that’s not true. As albert Einstein once said: As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality. So maths is a man made concept and as such, it fails.
@Ezekiel Arincorayan His contention is, that without beings to interpret phenomena, the phenomena are meaningless, and hence irrational. Additionally, he thinks that this is an exercise in futility, as we might not be physically capable of comprehending the universe.
@@pabloorqueraisa8898 Yes, but just because it fails sometimes doesn't mean it's irrational. That it is able to make predictions and these can be verified in replicable and repeatable experiments means that there is some rationale. Otherwise, if it were all to chance, these trends would not exist. Sure, you could always argue that we've been had for this whole time, and that the universe really has no trends, but until you can show that everything that we have extensively studied and shown to follow the rules, does in fact break them all with large enough sample sizes, the universe is, as we can see, rational (and pointless).
"Don’t downgrade your dream just to fit your reality, upgrade your conviction to match your destiny." - APJ Abdul Kalam I got motivated myself while searching for positive quotes in Google
Personally, I definitely believe that life is meaningless, and that we all (humans and all the living beings) are sort of a chemical accident, which happened on this planet (and may have happened elsewhere). But that also means we can give life the meaning we want it to have: we can give it meaning, for example, by fighting for just causes.
This is a very important question that most people prefer not to answer. Death is the only certainty in life. Keeping this in mind everyone should thus try and answer this question. Try and research/ explore the many possibilities suggested by people. And a tip when trying to solve this question: Dont overthink, sometimes the answer is very clear but our overthinking stops us from seeing the truth that is very apparent.
@@chrisven899 I am saying that most people indulge in escapism instead of answering this question. You should try and find the answer to this question and keep your mind open and don't only think about yourself. Most of the individualistic frameset of thinking is another type of escapism
“Life maybe be meaningless, but it’s meaningful to life.” -me At least that’s how I see it. Perspective is relative, and clearly others perceive life differently. So while life itself maybe be inherently meaningless it is meaningful to life.
Nihilism is beautiful to me for two reasons: a)It allows you to create or discover whatever purpose or individual path you want/need to go on, because... b) In a meaningless world, you can ignore the dogma of society and religion and simply find the love and purpose that fits your life. And you get to see the world in all its diverse and random glory with a clearer vision. I feel nihilistic world views scared me as a younger person because of my adherence and indoctrination in my Mormon upbringing. It’s almost like the cliff you see in the animation. Facing the reality of a meaningless world seems like a deceptively suicidal jump, but finding acceptance of the realities of our world is more of a simple leap. And then you land from that jump (which seems so small after) and you have an endless possibility of paths ahead. Now you get the freedom and excitement of simply taking your first step towards whatever direction you want, not a direction that was coerced on you or predetermined for you.
I clicked here just to say that you give it meaning. You decide if your life “has meaning” or not. To me, life has meaning, (though defining it here would be very difficult) even if it appears to not. You’re here for a reason. You’re here to survive.

Its hard for us to understand, but human mind is still evolving and maybe one day we will be able to not seek for the meaning or purpose, see life as it is and accept it.

The following article was written by Dr. Davidicus Wong from Vancouver and published on June 22, 2012:
Love is the core of our lives. It is the purpose, passion and meaning of life. To love and be loved is the point of it all. Yet love, so important and central to our lives, is a complex experience and a confusing word. We mean different things and misunderstand each other when we say, "I love you."
Love comes in many forms-as many as the number of humans that have ever lived.

Maybe there is a truh about the universe and maybe the universe can be in fact racional. We as you said just don’t know and never will, probably.
noobtotale that’s not true.

Well, you should eat to alive, wearing clothes and tax and always use money is also certainty
@@chrisven899 I am saying that most people indulge in escapism instead of answering this question. You should try and find the answer to this question and keep your mind open and don't only think about yourself. Most of the individualistic frameset of thinking is another type of escapism
people should try God.
My free book has the answer to the meaning and purpose of life.
“Life maybe be meaningless, but it’s meaningful to life.”
-me
At least that’s how I see it. Perspective is relative, and clearly others perceive life differently. So while life itself maybe be inherently meaningless it is meaningful to life.
But at the end, everything is meaningless.
👍🏻👍🏻
That makes no sense. Life is meaningful to life? Life is not a measure of which we can state something is meaningful to.
To have life ? To live ? To be living ? Come on now mate
everybody: putting a good quote
me: aw man i was just about to say that too
Nihilism is beautiful to me for two reasons:
a)It allows you to create or discover whatever purpose or individual path you want/need to go on, because...
b) In a meaningless world, you can ignore the dogma of society and religion and simply find the love and purpose that fits your life.
Thanks for the existential crisis, Ted-Ed!

But why is it important then? 🤔
I clicked here just to say that you give it meaning. You decide if your life “has meaning” or not.
To me, life has meaning, (though defining it here would be very difficult) even if it appears to not. You’re here for a reason. You’re here to survive.
