- This is a forgotten film clip of Blood Sweat & Tears performing their opening song "More and More" at the 1969 Woodstock Festival. Unfortunately, they never received compensation for their
performance, because the festival was losing money. BS&T and several other performers demanded that the filming of their acts be stopped if they weren't going to get paid. Consequently, they were never included in the final film production. ---- The history of BS&T started in 1967 with Al Kooper as the group's initial leader of the original eight, and he named the band after Johnny Cash's album called Blood Sweat & Tears. Later, Kooper was forced out of the group, and David Clayton-Thomas was brought in as the lead vocal. The band took on a new identity of fusing of rock, blues, pop music using their combination of brass and rock band instrumentation. Three singles, from their Blood, Sweat, & Tears album all reached #2 on Billboard Magazine 's Hot 100 chart, and the band had an amazing 10 nominations and won 3 Grammy's. The original song, "More and More", was composed and originally written by R&B blues singer and guitarist James Milton Campbell, Jr. (Little Milton) in 1968. - Розваги

David Clayton - Thomas is one of the greatest R & R vocalists of all time. There is no doubt.

The singer is a white man, born in England, raised in Canada - I'm still amazed at that voice, even tough I grew up hearing and seeing them.

David Thomas Clayton was too fabulous in this video and the way he was dropping his clothes and the way he was singing it was so Exquisite and just enjoyed it so much I'm glad that footage is still around
This is not the Woodstock performance . I was there 50 feet from the stage and the crowd was thin, The meadow at that point was a mess of blankets and clothing mashed into the mud , standing only and the throngs at this point were weary ( days of drugs ) and hungry and for the most part elsewhere

Glad I found this clip. Had the 45 of Spinning Wheel and this was the B side. I always loved it. But this live version absolutely kills. Thanks for posting.

Although the name escapes me, an early band member quit the group to teach music at a local community college where I was a student. He said he grew tired of the constant traveling.

Yeah, there was a lot of production video taken that never made it into the official release for the Woodstock Festival.
I’d love to see the stereo audio paired with high definition video of this.

There’s not much, but there are a few low-tech live videos, if you search UA-cam,... and I treasure them all... BS&T in Europe, Soundstage, some others BS&T 1970 and 1973... low quality but precious at this point.

...four top 10's during this time, high demand, the highest paid act aside with Hendrix, always a great show! Unfortunately Thier agent/record label stopped thier production of filming because it wasn't in The contract, would Have loved to have seen more footage...

Yeah, there were several performers who didn't want to participate.
The Doors were never asked to play Woodstock because of their reputation (Mostly Jim Morrison) and Jim Morrisons habit to get riots started.

2020 I just seen Woodstock on IMD a documentary with Goodman/ Arlo Guthrie narrating Marc Lang
They asked Mic Jagger filming Ned Jelly? John Lennon stuck in Canada, Morrison hated outdoor Venues, Bob Dylan didn't like crowds , those were suppose to be part of 1st line up it sounds like during this documentary from IMD titled Woodstock, Tim Harding was suppose to go onv1st he said no Richie Haven was 5th finally agreed to go 1st. They had him play 5 sets of songs, he Richie Haven actually talks b4 his passing 2014, RIP. I was too young but my older brother never made it their to Woodstock as he wanted, but did enjoy the Monterey. CA festival.
They were a fringe band in 69 , not widely appealing and they gained their popularity after he died
what a great group with a terrible vocalist. hes just oversinging all over the place and his tone isn't even that good.
David Clayton Thomas is considered Blood, Sweat, & Tears. They were nothing before him and nothing after him. He is a Grammy Award-winning Canadian musician, singer, songwriter, and has been inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.The1974 autobiography of Clive Davis, "Inside the Record Business", Clive Davis, then President of Columbia Records, described his initial impression of Clayton-Thomas: "He was staggering... a powerfully built singer who exuded enormous earthy confidence. He jumped right out at you. I went with a small group of people, and we were electrified by him. He seemed so genuine, so in command of the lyric... a perfect combination of fire and emotion to go with the band’s somewhat cerebral appeal. I knew he would be a strong, strong figure." Thomas grew up on the streets of Toronto as a delinquent, familiar with trouble, and letting his fists do the talking. He was taken under wing by The legendary Ronnie Hawkins-(The Arkansas Traveler)- who founded The Band. Thomas is a force of nature.

What an absurd comment. DCT is one of the greatest vocalists of all time. The energy and emotion captured in his voice are second to none.
I'm okay with Mr. Thomas, but you'd be interested to know I first saw this performed live in person by Paul Butterfield. It fit his voice and his band perfectly. No recordings of it.
