I was THERE! Having seen a wonderful rendition of Handel's Messiah in the same 400 year old concert hall the night before, this was a Midnight show that as I recall it played until nearly 3, and then they had encores until 4, every one of which was #1 hit of theirs. What a horn section!
What a fantastic band. This was the era of big horn bands like CHICAGO and some soul acts. BST was a force of nature. And, David Clayton Thomas was a beast of a vocalist...one of the best of all time. The instant he sang a word, you knew who it was.
Lennon & McCartney would disagree with you. What they achieved in seven short years will forever be the standard by which everyone else has to measure themselves to.
such a powerful voice and lyrics DCT had and the BS&T musicians haven't been equaled, they blazed the trail others could only follow..CTA...close second imho... peace ya'll
They could never equal their second album, as David took them to another level. Chicago would go on to carry the brass rock band torch for decades longer, but what BS&T achieved with that record would stand the test of time as the best. Every song a masterpiece.
You listen to the records and think a good voice. But to hear him live. He sounds very very good. His voice live holds up very well. Really better than most all. They are having a lot of fun up there.
Back when this was recorded I always thought to myself that this was the band by which the others are judged. I still think BS@T's were at the cutting edge of music genius.
Saw them in Anaheim that tour too . My first real concert and a month later I got to see Credence in San Diego. So many great music memories. When I saw BST when it came time for David to sing Yehaw several fans joined him and he liked it.

David Clayton Thomas gave the band its signature sound after he took over following the departure of Al Kooper.....but the real star of this song is the late, very great Laura Nyro....who wrote it....
There was an episode, rather poorely known, that BS&T looked for a new singer for them. And that Polish singer C. Niemen was seriously considered to join the team.
ua-cam.com/video/wTjLZwpmufw/v-deo.html here you have a sample od Niemen's performance (song Strange is this world"). Niemen rejected invitation telling that he is a solist and do not see himself as member of band.

How about a shout out to Laura Nyro the most under-appreciated singer songwriter of the 60s. She is the soul you feel in this song!
Nothing beats the sound of soul fusion with brass backing of this era, real vocals with real musicians thumping it out.
Those pants are hot, and him .. Great song and so underrated

Fantastic band and fantastic David Clayton Thomas!!

In 1970 I saw BS&T in Warsaw/Poland. Great, great Band. Fantastic music .Tx Guys
In 1970 they didn't reach Bulgaria, not through their fault.., but their fantastic music lives on
Saw them in 1972 in Paris. Same people and this voice, DCT and the horns. Great evening.
wow, amazing timing with all that clowning around, the musicianship. these guys were for real.
David Clayton Thomas influenciou com seu Excelente Vocal toda uma geração de Vocalistas .Um dos maiores Vocalistas da história do Rock
Thanks for this, these guys paved the way for Chicago a few years later.
Actually, Chicago and BS&T came out the same year - 1967...
...and with the same company and producer: Columbia and James William Guercio. Great time! BS&T, CTA (Chicago)...
Absolutely Outstanding. Brings back to my younger years.
Glad to see them fellas having a blast on stage. Impeccable timing, beat, and pitch variation.

@@d.e.b.b5788 so true, BS&T developed such an unique sound never to be equaled.
We were teenagers driving to the Jersey Shore on Saturday mornings. Getting high and listening to BS&T and many other great bands.
Loved that ending between David and the guy conducting the horns …
When pop music needed talent and didn’t require costumes, lights and dance moves to distract from the lack of talent! A truly golden age for pop!
My dad loved this song
Lead vocal is absolutely elite. I can hear the horn section saying to themselves, can you believe we are sharing a stage with David Clayton Thomas ?
What an amazing contribution to music. And he's Canadian!! Nova Scotia loves BS&T

So Excellent
Saw DCT and the band at Boston City Hall Plaza, it was over 30 years ago. Great performance.
Really good post. I like to see the old equipment and how they were set up. They sound pretty damn good.
So true the lyrics 😍 you can make heaven on earth..it is up to you
The joint was carrying on.....BST, the very best !
I'm a musician, small scale, and before the internet never knew who sang what or played what, new world every day.

Fantastic!!! I Love It

Hoss from Bonanza on lead vocals!
Iconic
such a great band
Saw him w/BST at Boston Gardens! (leather pants!)
Braviiiiiiii
PLAYED THIS AT BRUCE LEE'S FUNERAL .....HOW IRONIC THE NAME OF THE SONG......
i used to love these guys. too bad music tastes changed so radically and they disappeared.
Saw them at the fair in North Carolina in 69 I always loved them
Saw them in Anaheim that tour too . My first real concert and a month later I got to see Credence in San Diego. So many great music memories. When I saw BST when it came time for David to sing Yehaw several fans joined him and he liked it.
good...............................................
This an unpopular opinion but DCT. In leather pants is so sexy I mean he's a big guy but he pull them off very good.
One of two great bands to make this world living in but I sorry they will not come around again the other is CCR
Son o eran muy buenos

As far as I know , Jim Morrison was the first lead singer to wear leather pants. Never knew David Clayton Thomas wore them also.
A band that doesn't need introducing.

Did you yhey had one rehearsal with Laura Nyro before hiring DCT? She thought it was an interesting idea but i didn't get past that one rehersal.

If ??? Not for the harmonica ! This song would be a complete dud !;! Really !;!
The original blood-sweat-and-tears is much much better

whats going on at 5:13?
DCT is f***ing with Halligan. Changing the arrangement in the moment. Methinks DCT is the only one who thinks it's funny.
DCT unprofessional
No wonder Katz despised him
Great song. Great performance. BAD video of it all…
I would much prefer the original audio.

One of my favorite bands of all time, but don’t sing it at Karaoke
They were never the same after Al Kooper left. Commercialism here we come.
THANK YOU! I was waiting for someone to give props!
Actually the Electric Flag created that whole scene at Monterey. Mr Kooper expanded it with the studio smarts he brought with him. 🖖🚀
Mr. Buddy Miles et al. "Killin' Floor."
ha ha ha we call

Yip........🐒
What a mess! Shows how amateurish concert production was in those days. Good musicians though.
They have garage band quality I cannot stand.
Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one.

Fine musicians, great voice but crappy tunes 🤪
