Legit got chills during the first time doing the fight that I couldn't focus. Same feeling when I fought Ludwig for the first time as well. Not only the music with fromsoft, but the voice acting has always been goated. Just true exemplars of what modern gaming should be
For fromsoftware reactions, I always react to the piece after beating the boss in-game!! So I've gotten that spectacle right before sitting down to listen to the track:)
@@emyoung That's what makes Maliketh's fight so special for me. His second phase feels so desperate in the way he fights because he knows what his death will mean for Marika. The soundtrack really nails that feeling. It choked me up listening to it again after beating the boss.
@@emyoung This song is god tier, but what makes it really special, is when Radagon looks at you and the fucken main theme starts blasting. Then you know that things are getting real.
It's one of the most ethereal gaming tracks I've ever heard. I also just realised that that stars in the Beast's arena appear just as the choir picks up - it's like an entire galaxy is singing us to victory/praising the spectacle of the battle. Incredible.
This fight was such a moment.... Radagon's theme bringing back to menu theme when we had no idea what we were doing. Then the Elden Beast theme being so beatific.... I was stunned the first time I heard it. Thanks for doing these Em, this is nice.
@@redbirb1571At 1:13 is the sound of the Elden Ring shattering, with the high pitch voice which I'd assume is Marika. After this part you can hear faint hammer strikes off-beat which would be Radagon trying to fix it.
Dude, i get emotional everytime I listen this song. I think Radagon holding the hammer and starting this theme is the best moment I remember in a videogame. I get chills everytime I listen to it.
Radagon is one of the most underrated bosses in the game. The fact that he is silent and essentially represents the elden ring itself kind of wielding a part of it in his hammer, is perfect, there's no expectation of a different or wacky character or gimmick. It's literally just the main theme, with a character wielding the elden ring, in a greatly crafted final boss
FromSoft music ALWAYS captures the fight's theme perfectly! This one for me sits on the all time best video game tracks of all time! And they have a lot of those. Ludwig, Gael, Midir, False King Allant, Lady Astrea, Gwyn... Before FromSoft only One Winged Angel moved me as much. Honorable mention to Bury the Light for DMC5, although it's a completely different theme than a boss orchestral music.
So the first part of the track is basically an expression of the area where you fight Radagon. The context that they want to give is not only express an epic moment of your journey since they basically re-use the main theme in a more expressive way but also using these double instruments with the intention to make you feel closed/trapped. Implies you have nowhere to run but face your enemy in full power. The second part is a more dramatic kinda thing. Since if you are familiarized with the lore, You might be able to relate Radagon being one of the many victims of the Greater Will and it's lies. Radagon is just manipulated to fight you since we know that he only wanted peace. The voice that you hear at the beginning is now echoing which tries to pull you into the same area where the elden Beast is. An infinite realm. Therefore the echo ressonance all over the place. As the secont part progresses it makes sense to have a more "divine" composition since you are fighting a God. Cheers from Mexico :)
I would recommend the "Regal Ancestor Spirit" from the same game. The whole thing makes you feel the story behind it as much as hear it if that makes sense.
The brass almost blew my face off with stank when I first booted up the game. That chord at the end is also incredible. Just so momentarily full, uplifting and warm.

It doesn't matter who you are, what you've seen, what you've heard... This game, elden ring, is a master piece to be respected. You can enjoy it in many ways which most gamers can't even remember, either be of the landscape, the music, the design, the lore, the combat, I still remember the day when I was playing dark souls 3, when it came out, a few months later the trailer of elden ring came out but no name and no gameplay. Just radagon slamming his hammer... And just seeing it was already thrilling
I find the final fight similar to the one in Tears of the Kingdom, easy fights where you can enjoy the beautiful visuals and music. Can't wait for Shadow of the Erdtree for some more fantastic music.
I cant believe we still get great games, literally the best game of all time just released in 2022. and we thought there wouldn't be any best games today than the past games.

I agree with you that the first half represents Radagon, and the second half is Marika. I also think the eerie voices singing alternatingly with Marika (because the female voice is her to me) is the voice of the Golden Order, the Outer God that was controlling Marika. The Elden Beast part of the theme is definitely my favorite, so painful, so mournful, it really reaches into your chest and squeezes your heart.
