He's 74, but it's not like there isn't longevity in his family. His grandmother lived to be 101. His father was 99. His mother was 96. He should easily reign for a decade-plus, and while it's probably a stretch, a golden jubilee isn't out of the question. He'd be a few months shy of his 99th birthday when it would be due (reign began in September, birthday is in November). He obviously won't reign as long as his mother, but it seems reasonably likely he'll be on the throne for longer than most people think.

Costs the same as the inauguration of an American president, and there’s a new one of those every 4-8 years. Sounds like good value of money.
When you look at the price tag and you realize it cost 9 digits, it's easy to say "that money could have been used elsewhere." But then you remember the British government's budget is more than $1 trillion and realize this is about equivalent to what the government spends on minor things. And events like this drive tourism, which brings in significant amounts of money. IIRC, the British government makes money on the royal family - it saves individual taxpayers something like 1.12 pounds per year, give or take. Events like these are not taking money out of the hands of anything. Besides, when the current British government is going out of its way to make life harder for individual British people, they aren't spending the coronation money on anything to help the country.
I think that it is very inspiring and makes me feel hopeful as well as patriotic. The king is a monarch for all people of the UK, regardless of race or creed in a country that is falling away from tradition every day. Tradition connects us to our ancestors and makes us feel like we are part of something bigger than ourselves and it can unite all people from the past, and the present as well. I am not even from the UK but I see this as a very inspiring and beautiful thing.
