    I have had and still have a 4 wheel Pride mobility scouter since I was disabled in 1993. It is really good to be able to get around where ever I wabnt to go, mine is an older model and is not as fancy as some of the newer ones, but it does the job it was designed for, so I'm pretty happy with it.

      I didn't finish the above article I was working on, I'm 78 years young now, and to finish what I was saying about my Pride Mobility scouter since 1993 I have had no trouble with it , I did have to replace the batteries once, but as I understand now the batteries are better now and will last a lot longer, I don't know just how fast mine goes, but I'm not up to racing with it. So I'm still plenty happy with it.

    Damn you! I'm 76 and wheelchair bound, but my spirit is the same one I was born with! How dare you make these wonderful contraptions now, when I can't use them! Unfair, I cry! Now honor requires one of you geniuses make one I can use to fly my wheelchair around. Do it! I'll gladly be your test pilot, because I'm still fearless! Kowabunga, dudes and dudettes!!!

    Number 2 was the only real, credible mode of transport of the bunch!
    The prospect of a 4 (tilting) wheel quadricycle with an efficient 4 stroke engine with good range is extremely appealing.

    • @felixcat9318
      @felixcat9318 4 роки тому

      @CvilleGuy Yes, I know, and they are the limiting factor, but with a good, lightweight 4 stroke engine the thing would actually be viable as a means of transport.

    • @felixcat9318
      @felixcat9318 4 роки тому +2

      @CvilleGuy The entire point of the video was to demonstrate devices to enhance personal mobility.
      Not wanting the limitations that current electric vehicles have - Range - I proposed the use of an efficient 4 stroke motor.
      That you cannot comprehend beyond a 20 mile range in no way detracts from the point that a compact, lightweight 4 stroke motor would hugely enhance the practicality of the type.
      It is only by thinking beyond such limited ranges that development actually occurs!

    Personal transport like the 4-7 person family hauler are appealing. Fit it with a weather proof, insulated, hard body cover with locking doors or hatches and offer mounting points for other types of seating to convert it to a camper unit.

      Weight kills. My project is taking a 750 cc motorcycle frame and a 6.5 or 14 HP predator engine starting with a belt drive and then possibly a clutch or variable clutch drive. Point being that even such a frame is incredibly light compared to a big inline 4 cyl.
      Not in a hurry to get places after crashing and having the ER almost kill me when all I have is heavy bruising

    Interesting video. Sadly, most of these are not street legal in my state. They would either fall into the legal definition of "automobile" or "motorcycle", categories that come with certain requirements like fenders, illuminated license plate holders, turn signals, etc. etc. which these devices don't have. AFAIK, the same is true in pretty much all 50 states of the US. If it has four wheels, it's an automobile. If has fewer than 4 wheels but it goes faster than 30 mph, it's a motorcycle. That's how the laws are written.
    A few of these might be legal as motorcycles or mopeds, if they have turn signals, mirrors, fenders, illuminated license plate, head lamp, and brake light. But then you need a driver's license and possibly a motorcycle endorsement and a DOT helmet. And you have to register it, get a license plate, and have insurance on it.
    What we really need is a three-wheel pedal-electric-hybrid with a roof to keep the rain off your head, with a top speed (without pedaling) of 20 mph, and a 750W motor. That would classify it as a bicycle, so no registration or license required. I've seen a few, like the PEBL and the ELF, but those are kinda pricey. If you move up into the motorcycle category, I say go all out and make it highway speed capable, like the Arcimoto or the Elio. We need more options like those, IMHO. Keeping the rain off your head is an important design element or else nobody wants to ride it in the winter.

    • @texxs01
      @texxs01 5 років тому +2

      In Georgia the max wattage for an electric bike , street legal is 1000W which is higher than the default federal law of 750W so there's that...

    • @texxs01
      @texxs01 5 років тому +5

      But ya, our laws need some serious updating in this area. Sadly, the more they update them the more the less accessible they make electric bikes and alternate vehicles to the roads and parks. so I guess we actually need new lawmakers that serve people instead of car companies.

      @RightURKen7 5 років тому +6

      @@suzieseabee Federal electric bicycle law supersedes any state or local law so any electric bike with two or three wheels that goes no faster than 20mph is legal in all 50 states.

    • @suzieseabee
      @suzieseabee 5 років тому +2

      The laws on bycycles are crazy, one says yes but, the next says no. Hard to figure out here. Federal laws say we have the right to travel using the convayence of the day but try and you will be arested.

    Most interesting were the Gas bikes or Hybrid and the electric one with the 15 minute charge. Batteries limit your ride; a Hybrid is necessary since battery composition isn’t suitable, altho newer batteries are available they are not economically viable for the average Joe.
    Designs like the Toyota Prius utilizing battery & engine are #1 design in my opinion. Thanks for sharing.

      RJ the HONDA FIT EV used batteries you mention and all BUT them WHERE of course made to dissapear from USA roads asap by HONDA leaving Green Tec AUTO to 'hoard' the submodules and offer them by kWh for UNDER $300 a KWH!!! They have a usable bms so no other way to plug into four digit WATTAGE AND never wear our the cells DESPITE 60 months burn in of the SCIB brand ✔
      Google them up!! Rescuer points out it is ACTUALLY two groups of Toshiba TITANATE so running in parralel is option or AMPLE watts as is at OVER sixty volts. To charge them to over 700 watt hours a simple rectifier will do so quote me on under $400 cost to retrofit from dangerous other lithium systems that take dozens of times as long to energize duh and will REQUIRE multiple replacements over the even salvaged LTO'S BEING SOLD WITH SOME WARRANTY!!!

      Sorry Lynn, you must be asleep and dreaming if such a vehicle existed. the state's- especially Maryland would find a way to tax and regulate it into non existence. If it's not an electric car they can tax,require registration(tags) insurance, etc, and keep you to a "safe" speed 20 mph and 500 watts here, it'll be too expensive (there goes your $1000). I 've been considering an ebike, I wont pull the trigger due to exorbitant sales taxes and slow traffic impeeding speed limits placed on E bikes here. No MC dealers around here have any of the 3 wheeled scooters/leaning motorcycles I am licensed to drive. Maybe the next gas price increase will change my mind. CAREFULL big oil I'm already not driving my 30+ mpg car unless I absolutely have to. I haven't bought gas in weeks, and still have 1\4 Of an 11 gal tank.

      It's a shame there's not a dedicated team for driving the elderly but that's just one of many problems in the states and probably how we raise our children.

      What I mean by too bulky,is not for the owner,that has enough space to own these vehicles - but for those ( like me) that don't who have limited space.[There should also be an organization ,that creates legal rent cards - authorizing owners of folding electric and motorized scooters they own and rent ,to place them in their rented apartments that the landlord must accept.] The vehicles in this video are for mostly those who own their residences and have enough space to house these vehicles.

    I gotta say most of this list wasn't blowing my petti skirt up with their slow top speeds and small ranges,then the Onyx RCR Cafe blaster came up and i thought oh I gots to have one i mean 60mph and 45 mile range just great for a quick trip down town thru the traffic....nice.

    FYI - Next vid suggestions cover your end credits on my iPad and maybe all screens. They are readable if the credits are dead centred in the frame as the four video suggestions hang in the corners.

      @mike brink yeah I also liked the #15, seems to have more cargo space, and the refrigeration option, gives it more utility, regarding doors, I can see them easily adding those as an option, even if its something vinyl. not sure about the price on these, but they would be perfect for delivery, pizza, supplies, whatever, in the urban areas.

      We need to THINK of cars as BEING dogs at the pump unless pumping LIQUID co2 to tailpipe dump. There owners won't pay for NITROGEN lol but we can afford pennies per gallon for our all muscle between legs stallion.

      The Sinclair C5 was indeed interesting, however, for London rush hour traffic the prospect of one's head being at the height of most cars front bumper didn't induce confidence!
