I added tail lights to my bed extender for a little more safety. Glued carpet to save wear and tear on the yak. I use 12 foot cam buckle with hooks on both ends. I place the hook and warp around the bar once even with the side of the kayak go over the yak next. Then I wrap around the bar once snug it then place hook on the other side and snug. It won't move side to side.
NRS straps are the only straps I use for my kayak. Great advice. A bed extender is a most have if your kayak is 12 ft or longer. I use 3 straps for my Old Town Pedator 130 PDL. I use 2 straps (15 footers) from the front hooks through the handles and tighten both sides equally and the one strap (12 footer) across the kayak to the bed extender.
Thank you for your service I was a medic! I just bought a bed extender, going to try this, tonneau cover on my truck, I have a Ocean Pro big game 2 prowler 13ft 35" wide! I call it " yakillac"😊❤
I prepare as if I'm going to be in an accident, because hitting a 200 pound whitetail buck at 60mph could be made even worse if the yak in the back isn't as secure as it could be.
Gonna make my oldest get a bed extender. Thanks Gramps!!!

The aspect of it being heavy is only matters if you gotta throw it on top of your car. Got it easy with a truck
some of us with disabilities might have a different experience than those who don't. Arthritis and age also play into what's considered heavy or not.
Great video! I just hauled 4 kayaks in my truck this weekend 2 full sized and 2 kids kayaks! Definitely need to add a bed extender!

Another Great Video 🎣
Appreciate that
Nice video "gramps" I'm 66! 😆
Great info👍
Could you do a vid showing how to make 3/8oz. Swing Heads? Starting with the mold mods and wire. Strike King WANTS $10.00 FOR 2!
I don't like swing heads, hook up ratio has been terrible on the ones I've tested.
Where do you put your gear? Inside the cab?
yup!

@@FishinwithGRAMPS very true
Have you had any problems with the state police because your license plate can't be seen when you hull your kayak.?
nope, it's still back there and visible from behind
