Polunin walks perfectly that thin line between powerhouse masculinity and heart-stealing elegance. He makes the loveliest use of his arms and even his hands are expressive. I simply adore his style.
It’s his hands that amaze me even in the slightest movement. He’s astonishing.
This is my favorite performance of Le Corsaire. Each time Sergei makes slight and improving changes. This is perfectly expressed, in my view. Thank you.
Sergei Polunin manages to make the acrobatic male solo from "Corsaire" lyrical -- wonderful!
Incredible athleticism along with subtlety. So elegant and expressive in his port de bras. Golden boy, no doubt.

absolutely breath-taking!!
La perfection inégalée.
Wonderful Sergei Polunin!
The best and most interesting male dancer I've seen yet. Love you Sergei.
Bravo!
Breathtaking!
i love his ballet
A thing of beauty!
Superbe danseur parfait charismatique
Bravooo!
Although comparisons are tempting to make, I don't think they are useful. I prefer to think of each dancer as a unique artist of their time. Polunin has an inborn gift allied with tremendous technique, elegance, style. In addition, he has the strength, exuberance, freshness and sincerity of youth. He is still only in his twenties: we can only hope that a disinterested mentor will nurture and guide him on the next stage of his journey - whether that's an individual or a new company. So in that sense, I believe that more mature expression in his dancing will come with time.
Tout est bien bravo
Now that's a graceful fall.
ce n'est pas Rudolph mais c'est magnifique...on le ressent.
Le: Corsaire: R.Nureyev and the others............

Man. This kid has so much potential. But seriously, watch this performance side by side to Baryshnikov's performance of this in 'The Turning Point'. My God. No comparison.
Another thing to point out is that Polunin is at the mercy of an absolutely horrid musical arrangement. The tempo is far too slow.
Heather Stubblefield I know what you mean. The potential is there but I weaned on Godunov's performance of Le Corsaire & his rendition was like watching a lion leap around the stage. Polunin is like a highly trained kitten at the same age.
polunin is one of the many called on reviews new baryshnikovs like sarafanov simkiin etc etc well all these guys are great dancers but misha was better ,l saw many times at his top in 70's and was better
Very astute. I just did, just before I read your note. He blows the final turns a bit too. Baryshnikov was my hero, wore out the video of The Turning Point watching him at the peak of his powers. I went to the Australian Ballet School a lifetime ago. Quit early due to injuries. Godonuv was great too but didn't have Baryshnikov's technique or explosive power. Polunin has a beautiful lyrical quality and better line that Baryshnikov but it can come across as a tad too effortless and languid. Spot on on the tempo.
jason gagliardi l saw all the great dancers since early 70's till now and imo the greatest maledancer ever was vladimir vasiliev that l saw many times at his top in all his roles l still didn't see again a dancer like him probabily the only one that could match him was yuri soloviev .
Wow Vasiliev and Soloviev. That's going back a ways. Saw them in many ballet books but don't think ever saw them dance on film. You are lucky to have seen so many of the greats. There's also Nureyev of course. Perhaps not the technical equal but he certainly brought the passion and artistry in spades
Better than Nureyev.
unfortunatly you partially right ,already since 75/6 nureyev was bad
LIONEL GLORIEUX agree he lost very quckly mainly the magnificent style he had in russia and developed some awful mannerism but also the top phisical shape ,this because danced really too much ,nobody danced so much he litteraly destroied his body but people was like blind because he was rudy
Like Baryshnikov? Technically yes but he lacks Misha's emotional CONTENT. I have seen Baryshnikov and somehow Sergei seems like an empty shell. Amazing he is, yes, but his emotion is ''blank''.
No
