I can understood why you have chosen to move to using an AI voice but I have to admit, after watching your channel since the beginning I'm so use to the voice actor that it's going to take time for me to adapt
Love the new audio format , given the fact it is your own voice shows the tech of today can be used to help keep alive and pass on the craft of the past. Thank you.
The narration was jarring at first, but it grew on me! If you feel it is more true to your voice, that is all that matters. This was a great video, thank you for continuing to upload.
The AI has definitely given you a British accent. And after hearing the original voice over or so long I think I prefer the original. The human just has a lot more range in emotions and tones. If it is not prohibitively expensive or tough I would not mind waiting for the human to do it.
I really liked the old narrator! He was more fun. People think that having no accent is better or cooler. But I think people speaking with their own accents is more genuine and warm than practicing to loose that accent.
I thought your marvelous sense of humour came through particularly well in this video… and yes, the planer blade will always chip in the middle 😁. It’s a rule of this pernicious universe we are privileged to live in 😁.
i have agree with all the other comments. i would prefer a) the voiceover in japanese and english subtitles b) voiceover in english with japanese accent
25 seconds in and i gotta say. i miss the old narrator. while im sure it costs less and is easier to plug into a translator/narrator, it lacks the same genuine translation that i didnt realize i had come to love. either way keep up the great work. both of you.
This AI generator keeps his natural cadence and accent from Japanese and turns it into English. This is what he sounds like in Japanese if we could hear understand him. Interestingly, many think he sounds a little British.
@@nw6358 no, i get it. probably easier for editing also. i just.... it sounds so robotic. its not like im gonna stop watching. i just wanted to voice my opinion. also, most people sound british when thrown through an ai translator. would probably be comical if a bot came out with an american southern dialect
Thank you so much for the videos. It’s was great to hear your voice, specially when you grunted a bit while working. It feels so much more personal. Love the channel.
Ahh. Shoyan-san, I am glad that you are trying a new technology, but please go back to your son narrating the videos. It is much more pleasant to listen to and watch. Thank you.
It wasn’t his son, they explained in a previous video that they paid a voice actor. I would guess it was too expensive for the amount of money the videos brought in.
@@benn4342 Oh, ok. I always thought it was his son narrating. Shoyan-san was featured on NHK World 3 month ago. You can actually see him narrating the videos for his Japanese language channel. - ua-cam.com/video/xnwo_smu-xo/v-deo.htmlsi=aIOe7-w53laCazdP
It will take time for everyone to get used to the new voice, but I think it’s a good change! We’re all grateful that you’re able to make content in English, whatever it sounds like. Thank you :)
Tying the two electric planer tools together- genius. I would love to visit Japan one day and get to see a house you’ve built. Thanks for the excellent content!
It was very nice to hear this in your actual voice. I would also like very much to hear your voice and read subtitles. If there is ever an option to do this. Sometimes hearing the tone and inflection of a person's real voice is the very best sometimes I think you are having a little joke or laughing about something
@@BevMargaret he has a video out where he explained his channel. Basically started during COVID in Japanese language. Suddenly he had so much international success that he was asked if he could do his channel in English too. He did but hired someone to do the voiceovers.
You are truly a master builder and craftsman. Love your work. Like with many others here, I too miss your original voice. As someone suggested, keep in Japanese and give us subtitles. Great video as always, cheers :)
I actually like the voice, nothing wrong with the old one either. If it’s a time-commitment, I appreciate using what’s available. Certainly better than nothing. Thank you.
Mr Shojan ,thank you for knowlege about woodworking , my first love is the wood , i m skateboarder for 35 years.. all my life ,now i have 52 years old , I build skateboard ramps for last 20 years and i m a punk rocker , wish you and son all the best , god bless you , Greetings from Podstrana near Split town , Croatia , Europe
I appreciate you using something to facilitate the translation sounding like your actual voice !! I was disappointed when I heard the voice change, but when I heard why it had changed it was a great surprise! I would love a youtube short showing that process!!!
Hello sir, I have enjoyed your videos ever since I found them on UA-cam. I will admit that it is odd to hear your voice but I thank you for getting the translation software that lets us hear your voice. I don’t understand the nail question if you are seen getting all the nails from the same box without looking. I guess people don’t always see what they see. IMHO I think you are a great carpenter and the people of your city who get you on their build or other work for their home really appreciate your work skills and ability as that is something that’s fading out of a lot of cultures, highly skilled workers like you. Thank you for sharing your work ethic with us.
Well, I found the use of your voice quite stimulating & seemingly more 'accurate & true". I continually am amazed by the HIGH quality of your unrivalled skill level & reasoning behind everything you do & why you do it that way. One can learn SO much just by watching & listening to you as you work. I have NEVER seen a wooden deck made & installed so 'beautifully' & it IS a 'thing of beauty'. Thanks so much for sharing you love & joy in working with wood. Cheers, Don from South Australia.
Got it for the 40th anniversary with a good iscount - 320 brand new. I would never pay more for it though. Minerak glass and no ip coating - super eady to scratch. Otherwise a beautifull and fantastic watch! I really love the contrast between the shiny body and the black dlc screwback 👌👌
Love it! The English commentary is way more precise and easier to understand even for those of us not having English as their first language. Cheers! :-)
It is such a pleasure and enjoyable time spent watching you. As an amateur woodworker, I've learned a lot of tips & tricks from your videos. Thank you for sharing.
I have to say it in response to the comments and I'm sure Shoyan-san won't see this but!: I just found this channel and I prefer the new voice. It seems SO much more natural than the old voice. I'm amazed at all the people saying they prefer the old one. This voice FITS him. Sadly I can't watch the older videos because of the VO on them sounding not like him at all and it's jarring to me. He doesn't sound British at all lol have you guys ever even heard a Brit talk? I just wanted to leave a positive comment for you guys and the new voice. It's awesome.
A lot of times in North America people just butt the deck boards up to each other, seeing as they are the most damp and moisture holding they will ever be at installation, then when they inevitibly shrink from drying out you get your gap in between the boards for water and snow ice to melt through. Bit of a controversial point though when deck building, I've also used my speed square to get the gap between boards. Different strokes for different folks! (or climates) Cheers
Really professional work. I do like the simplicity of the design but it would be good to show one after say ten years. Not sure about the narration though. Sounded just like my Grandfather and he was a carpenter as well. 😄
Thank you for investing in your channel by the use of ai. It is nice to hear what your voice sounds like in the explanation of the work you are doing. Thanks. This deck, as well as all your work, is beautiful.
The new voice is different, but there is so much more information. Also, the audio is much better, we can hear the shop and jobsite sounds much better.

i agree.
Indeed
I agree😂 from sweden 🇸🇪🔨🪚
Yeah it was a better experience with the voice actor
Completely agree, it felt as if Shojan was talking us through before 😢
Love the new audio format , given the fact it is your own voice shows the tech of today can be used to help keep alive and pass on the craft of the past. Thank you.
I kind of miss the old narrator. He had an honesty in his voice.
I'm truly missing the Japanese dialect. But beautiful woodwork as always.
The narration was jarring at first, but it grew on me! If you feel it is more true to your voice, that is all that matters.

i agree.
Same here!
Agreed. The timbre and accent of the original is soothing imo.
I got used to it during the video, but I wish the AI voice had a Japanese accent

I like the old voice, you sound British now😂😂
And robotic too.
Another vote for bringing back your Japanese narrator! Great video as always!
i have agree with all the other comments. i would prefer
a) the voiceover in japanese and english subtitles
b) voiceover in english with japanese accent
Shoyan, I miss your original voice. Please bring it back! Alternately please consider uploading in your native Japanese with subtitles.
Amen
They have a Japanese Channel too.
The new voice over is awesome!

A lot of people like the old narrator, but I feel this voice is clearer. Either way, I enjoy this channel and your work.
this is honestly the difference between artistry and building. everything about the construction was beautiful from start to finish.
I Like to hear your Voice. Awesome what Technology can do. Always a pleasure to watch you Building
I've been a carpenter for 40 years and to me having you narrate your own video is so much better, I'm a big fan,
Thank you so much for the videos. It’s was great to hear your voice, specially when you grunted a bit while working. It feels so much more personal. Love the channel.
Personally, I’m just glad to see your continuing to show your superb work. Thank You 🙏

truth be told i always assumed it was his son also..... kinda sad it wasnt. can we go back to 5 mins ago where i was blissfully ignorant?

Both voices are awesome in their own way.
Thank you for yet another very professional piece of carpentry.
I like the new AI voice. I see from the reflection in the patio glass that your son is still involved in the process.
Wonderful work for even a seemingly simple job.
Beautiful deck and skilled craftsmanship, as always. Like many have said, I too prefer the previous voiceover - it was far more 'human' and relatable.
Another excellent video. The new voice does not bother me. Please keep up the good work.
What a craftsman! Even took his shoes off to walk on it! Awesome job!
Your work very interesting. ❤ Do as you see fit with the "voice over" I am just honored you would think of helping us to understand. Thank you.❤
Shoyan sensei always teaches good tricks of the trade. The deck is beautiful.
Well I'm more than happy with the new voice over.
After all.isn't it about sharing knowledge & showing skills ..?
❤✌
I appreciate you own voice, nice change!
Thank you for the amazing videos, Shoyan.
You have a great ability to make something ordinary look beautiful. I really enjoy your channel. Thank you for your work!
Thank you for sharing your work with us!😊
Great work and I do like the voice. Regards
Doug.
I liked your previous voice. It was young and fresh. I knew it wasn't yours, but it was so much better than this computer generated voice.
Excellent work as always. That cypress is beautiful.
Thank you for you attention to detail. It is nice to see.

Makes a beautiful deck, of course the craftsmanship that goes into it helps tremendously. Thank you for the update, appreciate your time.
Thankyou once again for demonstrating your skill. The new voice over seems to work well. Best wishes to you all.
Very very Nice job as always looking good!!!👌💯👍

True elegance from such a low number of parts ,agree the old narrator had a charm more fitting to the videos.
wow that deck is beautiful
Perfectly designed and efficient execution. Brilliant!
Love your work and the new voice. Its nice to hear yours. your the master after all : )

I'm glad I've found this channel. Amazing beautiful work as always
Amazing work. Your attention to detail is masterful.
As usual, a masterful job by a master.
With love please bring back the old narration. The ai is so cold. The old narrator had so much wholesomenesses about him.
Very beautiful work!😊❤
And we appreciate your efforts to make us understand you!
Beautiful work as always. That deck looks like it will last a lifetime.
Brilliant job... again!
Japanese cypress is so beautiful.
I am okay with change and will continue to watch. But, I really enjoyed the last narrator. He was excellent.
Beautiful work!!!
Thanks!
thank you of investing in th AI , it@s nice to hear your real voice , if you see what i mean
Wow! Beautiful!! 🙇♂️
