But they didn't. Gollum got a 4. Space Marine 2 got an 8. Maybe I'm missing some context for this comment. Not saying I like ign, or game reviewers in general.
This was truly an impressive and insightful comment that changed my entire perspective on humanity. However, it did not move me to tears, so my final rating is a 7/10.
I only watched the 40k and armored core episodes because those were the only ones I cared about, and as a fan of both franchises they were a fucking 10/10 each.
Gee, a Warhammer short without Ciaphas Cain or orks not having much humor? Shocker. It was pretty awesomely funny when the Space Marines pulled uno reverse cards, like the guy getting his head smashed after trying to shoot a helmeted Marine, or Titus vs the Sorcerer. It was also nice to have a D&D story that was taken seriously for once.
I wholeheartedly agree. I haven’t seen a fully serious adaptation of anything D&D in a while. I liked the recent movie and Vox Machina, but it’s cool seeing a fully dark D&D story. I only wish the episode had been longer. And my lord, that Warhammer episode is what I’ve been waiting for for so long-especially after seeing that fan animation a while back.
IGN got their brains infected by Marvel or something. Somebody has got to say something quirky in the middle of a serious matter. "Marvel humour". Like the episode 3 is already 90% humour but other franchise are just not meant to be humourous. How tf are you going to add humour to Sifu, Warhammer or Armored Core?
Staring down the thrice damed Dragon Queen, “Looks like we found our cleric,” is about as quippy as it should be. I don’t want to hear Marvel humor when I’m trying to not get hit by fire, lightning, ice, acid, and mustard gas at the same time.

@henrytate857 I agree!!!! I personally loved all of them except for crossfire (it was just too slow, but that was probably from being too short). Like I said before, there is so much potential here!!!!
I'm so excited to see where the series goes! I also didn’t like the Crossfire episode. Sure, the animation was cool, but I hope they avoid modern FPS games like Call of Duty or Battlefield in the future. I think it’ll be very difficult to give them a unique story or art style since they already look photorealistic as it is. I’m hoping for something like Titanfall or maybe Max Payne, where you can immediately tell which universe it’s set in by the art or the characters/items featured in the show.
I have no idea why they repeated that so many times. It wasn't good the first time and certainly wasn’t good the next five times either. Stop trying to make your live-service shooter games complex; it ain't that deep. I was hoping that at the end, one of the cars would explode and someone would say, "It doesn’t matter who’s good; it only matters who wins," or something like that.
I can safely say that the Warhammer and New Worlds episodes were my favorites. I absolutely loved how their respective stories were tackled. Sifu and Armored Core are runner ups, but overall the series was fantastic.

God IGN's reviewer is trying SO HARD to forcefeed "this is bad" by really forcefully saying "this is bad" every 2 sentences. It's so obvious they're trying to subconsciously get people to think it's bad and not pay attention to the actual arguments made. Because the arguments have 0 merit. None of them. All of their arguments are garbage.
To this day, I get whiplash every time I remember that review-they called it mediocre and gave it a 5.9. It’s one of the best horror games I’ve ever played. I had to take long breaks during each session because of the pure terror that game gave me.
For me it's them giving God Hand a 3/10. IGN took what should've gone on to become a classic gaming franchise and strangled it in the cradle. They were absolutely filtered by an incredible game. The reviewer was basically mad because he was terrible at the game.
Hey Beanboy, what did you think of the other half of the episodes? I thought they were better in regards to the outer worlds and spelunky eps, but I felt the exodus, concord, and PlayStation eps had some issues, in regards to feeling more like ads rather than proper stories. Which was your favorite?
I enjoyed the second half. I had no expectations for the Concord episode, and as expected, it was mid as hell-just like the game. However, I actually really enjoyed the Exodus episode. It gave me a feeling of frustration, but in a good way. It made space travel and the sheer amount of time it takes feel real, heavy, and ultimately annoying. I haven’t had a piece of sci-fi evoke that kind of feeling for me in a while without being boring. The Mega Man episode was great, but I just cannot comprehend why they only made it 5 minutes. It honestly could have been the best episode of the show if it had been 20 minutes. I also loved the Honor of Kings episode. I would never play that game (because, ew), but the episode itself was amazing. The animation was epic, and I really enjoyed the dialogue and story. It’s my favorite of the second half, which is a huge shock to me, honestly. I haven’t watched the last one yet (the Sony episode), but I will soon. So far, I’d rate the first half an 8/10, and the second half is leaning toward a 7.
@ that’s a fair rating. I am excited to see more of exodus, as I am curious how the universe works with the time dilation stuff. Also the Celestials sound like an interesting race with the whole indentured human servant part so I would love to learn more about them. I really hope Exodus can give a Mass Effect vibe in terms of being a good sci fi journey across the galaxy with meaningful choices. Also btw if you are interested in sci fi like that K would recommend watching the Expanse if you get a chance. Great show that has a hard sci fi style. You see how ships actually navigate using accurate physics and you see how gravity affects the human body development when growing up in space or mars

Yes, that is exactly correct. The main issue the reviewer seems to have is that too many episodes based on action games have too much action in them. I can agree with him that some episodes needed a longer runtime to flesh out the story and characters, but he’s trying to hold the episodes having too much action against them. It would be like complaining that an adaptation of a dating sim has too much romance in it.
@@BeanBoy7 Thanks, it seemed a strange commentary. I've not seen the show but it seems a little odd to complain that any media based on Warhammer 40000 is too action heavy. I didn't recognize most of the other properties but I guess similar would apply.

Experiments, trying to do something creative with character development, action, interesting concepts, complex animation, or all the above in such a short span of time!! That’s not easy to do, and these guys do it flawlessly. IGN gave it a 5 out of 10 because they were watching it like gamers (and bad gamers, at that). But IMDB gave it an 8 out of 10 with film-based critiques. That score is FAR more fitting and IGN should leave reviews like this (of stuff that isn’t even video games but simply based off of video games) to people more qualified.

I’m looking into all of the books as well, where do I even start? I have ordered the game as well and I saw that there is a warhammer+ app as well, is that worth purchasing?
Can you people please for the love of everything that is holy, please finally stop giving ign attention....stop giving them time and they'll stop getting money, they stop getting money and they'll stop existing. Also stop trying to save idiots that will let a bad ign review take joy out of their lives. If you're stupid enough to listen to ign, it's your loss for missing out on great experiences.
The sifu episode honestly had me wishing they fleshed it out more into an actual show, and ironically the extra gore felt very in place given some of the stuff the game offers. So far my favorite out of the bunch especially the ending. Wait episode 1 had a Monk Dwarf beating people up, nevermind. Episode 1 is the new king.
I just wish more of them were longer is my major criticism. Like the sifu or megaman episode, those have what? Maybe 4-5 min of actual related content. The first 40sec and the last 2 1/2 min of every episode is opening and credits so those felt REAL short. I guess its also just the feeling of alot of them just cut off what feels like too early. Even if its maybe an episode of something you werent really into but your like "ok im kinda into it" then bam, nope, its over and im just like really? I just was getting interested.
IGN is a joke. I really enjoyed every episode of this fantastic series (some more than others) but it delivered what its supposed to. Giving this a 5/10 and at the same time DA:failguard getting a 9/10 should tell you all you need to know about IGN and its incompetant workers.
I love watching game cinematics. Even for games I will never play. I have yet to watch all of Secret Level but I love it already. And yes, like Love Death and Robots I think these will get better with repeat viewings.
40k episode was awesome, DnD was awesome, PACMAN was something id honestly want to see a show of, it peaked my interest the most to my surprise it was friggin crazy.
Mind you, the sole reason they disliked it was because there was lack of context or lore for each game. Like lol GL filling in everybody on the lore of nearly every game in 15min. Especially 40k.
To be fair, the only episodes I truly REALLY enjoyed were the 40K and Armored Core episodes. They were 10/10. The Pac-Man one sucked and the rest were pretty... decent, I guess.
the entirety of the Pacman episode is bringing the game to its very basic design. Eat or be Eaten. IGN has 1 braincell between all of them so of course they didn't know.
I honestly thought the series was alright. I liked the D&D, Unreal Tournie, Pac Man, 40k and the Armoured Core episodes. I haven't watched the latest set to be released yet.
I do Even though the Warhammer and Armored Core were 10/10 and Unreal Tournament/Sifu were like 9/10, we have to remember that fucking CONCORD is getting an episode so that does drag the overall rating down a few points
I don't think it was worth a 5, but I agree with them on some points. On those 8 episodes many just fell flat on their face for me because there were no weight, incentive or stakes. Of course many action shots were awesome, but if they boast about teams from LDR to be behind those shorts I'll be expecting more than 13 to 20min ad cinematics with flat scenarios. As an exemple, I felt more invested in 621 after a 3min AC6 story trailer than 13min of drunk, over used cyber-psycho, Keanu Reeves... Basically, because you expect a 6 or a 7 doesn't mean it shouldn't be rated as such :T
The score isn't what bothered me; it's the critiques that led to that score. I can see why someone might not like the show or certain episodes, but as a reviewer, your goal should be to get into the headspace of the target audience the show was made for and understand why it was made. My issue with the IGN review is that the reviewer failed to consider these aspects and pretended not to understand who this show is for. Plus, their review format isn’t suited for anthologies. Instead of acknowledging that and working around it, they tried to fit a circle into a square hole.
Plot twist: the pac man one isn't actually based on pac man. Its based on a game that was just revealed thats inspired by pacman. I think the name is maze of darkness
"These are adaptations of action games, it would be an insult to the fans and the franchise if the characters weren't constantly wielding a gun or a sword" This right here, is why I hate arcane. I was a big lore fan and Jinx OG, is one of my favorite characters in fiction. Arcane fucking hates its source material. Secret level did warhammer SUPER respectfully
Also IGN acting as if they‘d know what the deeper roots of each of the franchises are and thus are in a position to judge if they actually touched the core of what makes them loved is a huge joke. I KNOW they have no idea of 40K. Like not even surface level. Like not even „read the tagline“ level as they showed by mentioning a lack of lighthearted humor in SM2…
Aint NOBODY gets to diss the 40k Episode.
That was pure unadulterated PEAK.

@nick33ee im using that quote for my yearbook
I think this actually is part of the reason.
This is typical of a Reddit cringe lord. They all think they are some sort authoritative critic.
In other news, water is wet
I saw the warhammer 40k episode and I am hooked! I have been watching any and all content and my gosh Astartes has been the best fan made content I’ve seen! I’m looking into all of the books as well, where do I even start? I have ordered the game as well and I saw that there is a warhammer+ app as well, is that worth purchasing?
The IGN reviewer worried about gore and violence.
Pulls off mask, it’s YOUR MOM everybody!! 😮
Episode 8 was fn amazing. I have not watched the armored core one but I can't wait!
You don't need to tell us to dislike IGN we all do already.
BRO!!! How come you only have 455 subs????😭
This vid is so high quality i didn't realize this is a new channel.
If IGN gives it a bad review its a good product , and vice versa ofc 😂
not enough DEI
Warhammer 40k needs: lesbians, women and female protagonist
Mind you, the sole reason they disliked it was because there was lack of context or lore for each game. Like lol GL filling in everybody on the lore of nearly every game in 15min. Especially 40k.
They say when something, brand or someone starts falling off, they get to a point where they start doing or saying wild stuffs to get relevant again.
*an adaption of a action video game/franchise happens.
Critics: "It hAs tOo MucH bLOod, sHooTIng ANd sWorD fiGhting!"
A review of a review, the new META
The 40k Episode was peak Warhammer
Just watched it. It's pretty good. Like a show reel/pitch for a full film.
This is surely underrated I can only watch the 40k space marines
The Armored Core & WH40K episodes were 🔥🔥🔥🔥
So the rest were mediocre resulting in a 5
"Pacman worst episode." Brother, that's going to go to Concord...
the only pitfalls that are suffered is IGN trying to act like their review is relevant other than to stir drama
I bet they reviewed Concord 10/10
I think the issue was that they probably watched all of them back to back to back and probably didn’t even like one of the franchises…
I want to see Stardew Valley next season, but with guns, swords and spurting blood.
To be fair, the only episodes I truly REALLY enjoyed were the 40K and Armored Core episodes. They were 10/10. The Pac-Man one sucked and the rest were pretty... decent, I guess.
Of course they said they dread the idea of video game elements in a video game. They're IGN, they hate video games.
I got what I expected….The Bad Guys with their butts kicked and it makes me feel good.
"Playeds hate watching trailer" - ign, a news channel that is 85% trailers
That's why they say this show is about games for gamers.
the entirety of the Pacman episode is bringing the game to its very basic design.
I find it funny that Concord got a short.
It feels like IGN will give a good review to who ever gives them money. Remember the crap the dumped on Stellar Blade when it came out?
Plot twist: the pac man one isn't actually based on pac man. Its based on a game that was just revealed thats inspired by pacman. I think the name is maze of darkness
remember, if IGN gives a bad review on something you know its fucking peak.
"These are adaptations of action games, it would be an insult to the fans and the franchise if the characters weren't constantly wielding a gun or a sword"
This right here, is why I hate arcane. I was a big lore fan and Jinx OG, is one of my favorite characters in fiction. Arcane fucking hates its source material. Secret level did warhammer SUPER respectfully
lol I really care what IGN "I'm non binary" thinks about 40k
Also IGN acting as if they‘d know what the deeper roots of each of the franchises are and thus are in a position to judge if they actually touched the core of what makes them loved is a huge joke.
I KNOW they have no idea of 40K. Like not even surface level. Like not even „read the tagline“ level as they showed by mentioning a lack of lighthearted humor in SM2…
They gave the review to someone who din't unerstand the point of what he was watching...
Peak Incompetent Gamers Network right there
Best thing to do - Ignore IGN. Life is better.
IGN has no credibility whatsoever.
40k absolutely killed it...look out marvel... You about to get dethroned
ngl I actually loathed the Aeternum one. However the Unreal Tournament episode? how dare IGN say it fails to build drama. It was damn glorious
