The usual obvious way to tell in these comparisons is the amps always sound clearer and all the nuances can be heard. Each string and note ring out much clearer. In this case it was easily distinguishable. First sample was all it needed. The more interesting part was the difference between going through the amp as opposed to the sims. On their own each would sound perfectly acceptable. The average listener is not going to care and it’s become even less of a problem for even the fussiest of players too. One thing is certain, modelling has improved massively.

Good take mate! I agree that the average listener isn’t going to notice, I would say the only person noticing the difference these days is the player themselves. I think that, once in a band context, the audience will have no idea and I’d even argue the other band members (sans other guitarist maybe) won’t notice the difference either.

Great comparison! I managed to get a 100% error rate, haha. Mic'ed ampero was my favorite, I love how it handled the high frequencies.

Yeah agreed that the mic’ed up Ampero was great! Kinda the best of both worlds if you want a simple, somewhat traditional but portable rig

How do you use the Ampero mini as just an effects pedal. I've tried turning off the amp and cab sims to just use some effects and it totally kills the signal.
The user manual even recommendeds turning off the amp and cab blocks if you're running into an amp.

You need to balance it out with the master volume! Find the unity gain on the master volume with the amp and cab block bypassed and you’re good to go :)

@@danieljdtaylor do you mean the patch volume or something in the global settings. I've tried turning up everything I can find and it's still really weak in comparison to the clean guitar signal.
      Thanks for the help BTW!

B was the most different thought it would be the ampero only. turns out it was the amps.^^

Wow, interesting result! What about it made you think it was the Ampero?

Would be interesting also to hear the IR instead of the cab sim. I don't think the cab sims sound as real as the IRs.

I’ve thought about exploring those but never found an IR that I think I would like. A lot of them are big 4x12 cabs, I would love an IR that’s just a simple 1x12 boutique cabinet or something, if you know of some let me know!

Ah right I've got the Ampero 2 stomp and it has a bunch of IRs that are decent, single speaker cab stuff@@danieljdtaylor
