That rotary speaker pedal is tight! Reminds me of robin trower. Gotta get a vibe pedal too. Just got the dan o wah last night for 20usd. Ty for the demo!
The Dan o Wah is a lot of fun!
This is a very good video u earned a new subscriber
Thanks mate!
I know learnt about guitars becuase of u u should have like 20 million subscribers!
I love these dano food series pedals. Back when I was first starting out, you could find these in pawn shops for almost nothing, now people realized how great they were and the prices skyrocketed haha. I use the Chicken Salad vibe and the Tuna Melt tremolo on my board. I got the French Toast too, what a cool fuzz, made a little video of it on my channel. I've got quite a few of em, but I need to find the rotary one, the Rocky Road.
The rotary one is awesome! Not many rotary pedals out there so it’s cool to find a relatively affordable one.
I bought one in 1998. Still have it. I had a piezo installed but it needs an outboard pre amp for acoustic gigs.
Great to hear from another owner! Would’ve loved to keep mine and put a pickup in it
They looked and sounded like cheap cake fondant. Broke just as easily.
Once I played a Schecter I realized Gibson is no longer needed
5 GRAND?!!!! Dude, that thing literally has like 20 bucks of materials in it. That is utterly bat shit insanity
I made mine out of pvc pipe and some 3d printed parts; super cheap and easy.
Can you explain the loopi
That is an external footswitch to turn an effect on and off in the Ampero
Hey mate, cool tones. I have the artist HSS strat that has the Wilkinson pick ups, got it dirt cheap a few years ago, been scoping out this model because it looks so cool but i might just have GAS
Those HSS ones with the Wilkinsons seem like a great deal!
This is a really well done video. Thank you! Question: what's it like transporting this to and from gigs / rehearsals? Do you have a carrying case, etc.?
I had a backpack that fit it ready to go, but it is a little heavy tbh! You can make it work though for sure
These sound like crap. I might be missing the intent, so I apologize in advance. But damn none of this was good. Not sure what is wrong here, but none of it sounded like professional equipment.
Probably because I’m not a professional recording producer in any way
I bought the Kink femtaur this video confirmed i made a good choice.
It’s a great drive pedal!
Is it possible to turn the amp modeler off/disable and use the effects only on this unit?
Yes
Yes, this video demonstrates that actually
Thank you!
Sounds like you're glad we swapped guitars DT? Im still enjoying the takamine acoustic btw. Do you still have the indie Ric copy now?
Unfortunately I had to sell it very recently to fund other more important things! It was a regretful sale and I miss it a lot but it is what it is.
I receive it today and hasn't test yet, my impression is the ampero mini is great for clean and high gain sounds but seems not great on crunch and mid gain sound. I can hear it on your video. Will see...
I think you can make a crunch sound good on it with a bit of time put in to shaping your sound!
Ceramic neck single coils are best, alnico is thin and cheesy and best for bridge humbuckers
I've been using NUX pedals for a while now and I've had such an issue with their stuff because IMO they sound as good or even BETTER than the expensive versions of what they're going for But holy shit every time I step on one, I'm afraid of breaking it. It's maddening!
Yeah the switches on this particular series feels shocking!
I love danelectro pedals I have a bunch of them and have sold a bunch keep going back and forth I was at first disappointed with the chicken salad since it wasn't a true vibrato but it made me fall in love with univibe and now I have a very expensive clone of the original shin ei version I've at one time owned the whole food series but never all at once been recently collecting the wasabi series
The wasabi series looks like a lot of fun! Need to start checking some of those out.
Love to hear how they sound using a bass.
Like bathtub farts.
The usual obvious way to tell in these comparisons is the amps always sound clearer and all the nuances can be heard. Each string and note ring out much clearer. In this case it was easily distinguishable. First sample was all it needed. The more interesting part was the difference between going through the amp as opposed to the sims. On their own each would sound perfectly acceptable. The average listener is not going to care and it’s become even less of a problem for even the fussiest of players too. One thing is certain, modelling has improved massively.
Good take mate! I agree that the average listener isn’t going to notice, I would say the only person noticing the difference these days is the player themselves. I think that, once in a band context, the audience will have no idea and I’d even argue the other band members (sans other guitarist maybe) won’t notice the difference either.
Hello. Do you know where I can get the wiring diagram for this amplifier?
Clear sound alnico
I can't tell the difference and the majority of the people won't give a f*ck what kind of pickups you're using as long as you sound good on stage.
Agreed, the different does not matter in most contexts
am i tone def, they both sound the same to me.
i bought a denelectro = 1996 fab tone fuzz distortion pedal = top condition but no box ! - fun time jamming !
Thanks for making this. I'm a keen collector of Rockmans and the copies and this one has alluded me for some time. The Nobels SS1 is by far the closest to the original because they managed to copy the speaker simulator well. This Axxeman has a great compressor, overdrive and fx tones but it lacks the intense mid range eq humps of the original- probably making it more usable with a modern day IR based speaker sim.
I didn’t know it was a copy of anything! Good to know :)
Rocky road, french toast and the eq through a marahall valvestate stack sounded rockin and gigged well back in the day
Great rig!
Hahaha, how in the world did you find this?
Just accumulated them over time 🤷♂️
The NU-X Plexi is just fine.
Thanks for the demo, I just bought one today.
Is this a soldano clone??
I’ve never tried a Soldano so I couldn’t tell you to be honest. I guess it is high gain in the same way a Soldano is?
@@danieljdtaylor the tone is similar at least the drive channel. but i would love to know which amp this is based on
@@danieljdtaylor I just figured it out, this is a copy of Laney LH50R not soldano,.....i was wrong.
@@edneyhelenedossantos1875 there you go! Glad you figured it out mate
If i played guitar in Fallout 3 these would be my pedals
Are you still looking to sell it? ;)
I have actually sold it since!
I just acquired one of these recently, any tips on restoring one
My biggest tip would be to replace all metal parts as it is all very soft metal or chrome-painted plastic. You could maybe get away with keeping things like the input jack and bridge base plate but at the very least replacing the bridge saddles and tuners would be highly recommended
The AD80 can take a DM2.. the Nux is still great value.
Most test/demo just playing a tune or riff they like but really people should demo the clarity of harmonics with sustain and test out the lowest and highest note on the strings. Also the type of strings matter as do frets and nut to get more resonance. Everything the strings sit on my custom Warmoth guitar is stainless steel and is almost intimidating because it picks up so much but also because I have scalloped frets ;) UA-cam may also reduce the sound quality through compression. Maybe when creating demo videos users should aim for 24 bit 97 khz at least with Flac in with their video editor. I'm currently shopping for the best noiseless strat pickup with bell/chime like sound but haven't had anyone attempt making that sound, even on Fender's website, they all do riffs but I'm not shopping for riffs lol
I guess the reason being that, most of the time, the context through which people experience pickups firsthand is playing riffs and songs, not just letting individual strings and notes sustain to listen out for harmonic content. I see your point but I believe providing context is also important.
@@danieljdtaylor True but there are so many playing styles so if it's not their own, it can/has been distracting.. Personally i play all kinds but still find it harder to determine the quality unless sone one played an open note in the lower and upper ranges. I think maybe more universally acceptable would also include the open notes and harmonics just as someone tuning their guitar.
Is it louder with the bigger speakers? How much louder if so?
The 10 inch and 2x12 were certainly louder than the little speaker. You wouldn’t disturb a household with the little speaker whereas you could borderline jam along with a band through the bigger speakers.
@@danieljdtaylor interesting
What Strings do You use
I usually use Artist brand strings from Artist Guitars website. They're the cheapest strings that still maintain a high quality standard that I've found
Thanks for uploading. I came across an old music magazine doing a review on this preamp. Now I know what it sounds like - great job- you made my day. Cheers from Germany
Glad to hear it mate, cheers!
Thanks for this mate - Just been looking to get one of these neck pickups 😎👌
No, maybe the 10k new ones or 40-50 year old gibsons are for collectors. I love the look and sound of Gibsons flyng V and explorers and in my opinion nothing can top those guitars. They have a certain feel and sound that no other Guitar has.
Don't worry about offending people DT. They choose to be offended ....or not! You don't control their thoughts.....relax .....it's all good. It's just your opinion.....cool!!
I use several different makes of guitars for versatility when recording . There are some tracks that just call out for my 1977 gold top deluxe . Would I buy a newer Gibson Les Paul at the prices their asking ? Probably not . Interesting vid
For my ear ceramic pups sound weird on the higher gain stuff
Magnetism is the same, there is no two kinds of magnetism. If you make a ceramic magnet of the same strength as an alnico and similar pickup construction, you will get the same results. Small variations because of the materials will make impossible to be 100% the same, but this like tone wood bullshit. Get a well constructed pickup and choose by its caracteristics and not the material of what its made.
Not a huge difference.
They used to be just expensive enough to be something you would say one day I will get one to now they are just too out of reach for most people. I remember as a kid Gibson standard lps could be found under 2 grand sometimes and now they are well over. Doesn''t make sense when brands like Ibanez and schecter have custom shop level guitars for 2k or just under.
Yep, the competition is too saturated to not be competitive with pricing!
@@danieljdtaylorVery true
Brilliant video! 👏 Very informative too and well explained. I have also bought a DS-1 distortion pedal and will be using it later with my black star amp 😀
Glad you found it helpful mate!
I rehoused mine, new switches and a small mod I found online. Great pedal now. It was good before but awesome now
