I plant mealy cup salvia among my pink roses. It makes a striking look with the purple and pink. I also plant fuchsia colored sun patients and catmint. I have pink and purple tall phlox adding to the mixture with white roses as well.😊
I’ll have to try the hyssop. I’ve added foxglove and alliums and I’ve loved them, especially together back of border. Adding delphiniums this year too. I’ve got some blue eryngium and Russian sage potted up - any blue/purple perennials seem to find their way home haha.
Excellent! I love Russian Sage. One of the first rose pictures I ever took that I loved was New Dawn blooms with a light purple foxglove. Also, you just reminded me that I once grew hyssop (not Anise Hyssop, but the actual Hyssop) that made very much like a darker purple version of lavender.
Don't forget garden phlox and hollyhocks! Hollyhocks go really well with the taller shrub roses and great with climbers! I'm finally where I can have them and I bought seeds of one that is listed as a true perennial and has fig shaped leaves and claims rust isn't a problem so we will see. Sowing this spring and I'll keep you and Heidi posted! Buck too🤣🩷🐶🌺
Definitely! Holly yalways has them, as they are a classic cottage garden plant. The only phlox (sad statement!!!) I've grown in the garden was a light purple creeping phlox. It was splendid planted under Heritage! I used to cut phlox for Holly to put in a vase hiking back in from spring turkey hunting: loved the strong fragrance! Why didn't I think to put them in the garden???? GO FIGURE!!
I like having either Chrysanthemums or Asters with my roses. Also a pairing that I liked was the California poppy and my roses. Just plain mint works well also.
MasyaAllah very beutiful flower
Thank You!
