I remember this scene from Taxi between the Cabbies and Louis DePalma (Danny DeVito) when Louis’ unceremoniously dropped off his mother at a Nursing home: “Is it a nice place, Louis? Seemed to be from the outside. You mean you didn’t even go inside and check it out? What the hell do I look like, Mike Wallace?”
Mike Wallace was simply the Best at News making interviews, guerilla-war-like invasions on seedy business people and world dictator were priceless. Nothing today even comes close. Mr. Wallace was irascible, in your face, but knew how far to take it. His work on the A & E series, "The 20th Century" was terrific too because he lived and worked during times of signicant change and what would become Historic Events.

I am sick of CBS and of Mike Wallace. This news bureau at one time was a honorable, ethical news company. Gone are those days. They began to go down in the 80’s and became a bureau just a propaganda pusher no better than Pravda. Wallace showed his dirty side with the corrupted episode of the Vince Foster investigation special. Never do I remember up to that time, a report which was manipulated much as that one. CBS or Mike or even both, must got a good contribution from the Clinton cartel.Looking back now I see when American news media began to be so corrupt. Yep what we got now is propaganda news no better than what Joseph Goebbels and that segment on Vince Fosterthat Mike did was one of the starting places of this demise. He certainly tried to make that reporter look bad. I'm a 66 year old baby boomer who had a God fearing dad. He would not believe if he was here that America has hit rock bottom as far was ethics, morality, honesty is concerned. I am glad to know that everyone that is involved in such matters will one day have to face up to Father God.
"Legendary." Mike Wallace was simply the best. His Generation of Journalists who knew the importance of remaining Objective, no longer exists.
There are handful but mainly in print journalism. I think his son Chris does a pretty good job, he isn’t Mike but he does have integrity.
Wallace should be in The Television Academy Hall Of Fame. RIP Mike.
