- It’s no secret how much I LOVE Thierry Mugler. I’ve been obsessed with his artistry for thirty years now and have been fortunate enough to begin collecting pieces for the past three. And let me tell you, I don’t plan on stopping any time soon! This is more than just clothing honey, this is ART. I’m so excited to share my collection with you all…I hope you enjoy it!

The purple blazer, it reminds me of a navy blazer that I got at a thrift store, I might still have it. These pieces are amazing.

Salut, Not sure if you ever met Thierry, but to let you know he was incredibly kind, open, and generous to all types in our community. I was "Swiss Miss" whenever and wherever our paths would cross in Paris & Berlin, he is greatly missed.
PLEASE I need a part two with the dresses 🤩🤩 We all do! And I own my own Mugler suit myself but been too afraid to add panels in the pants so it can fit me because I don’t want anyone to ruin the fit of it!

2 of my favourite fashion designer in the 80's and 90's are Thierry Mugler and Claude Montana . They both are so talented and creativity from Pret a Porter to Haute Couture collection . Hope one day LC can make Claude Montana and Montana for Lanvin ❤❤❤ . Thanks 👍🙏

Thierry Mugler is my ultimate favorite fashion designer, I really loved that you owned a lot of his pieces AND worn them out as well! A lot of collectors don’t wear the stuff they bought and makes me sad..

Thierry Mugler is truly one of those designers who created pieces that will forever be timeless, no matter in what context it may be, a Mugler suit will always be fabulous.

I not too long ago looked into Thierry Mugler’s designs. I saw the spiral denims and the catsuits and they were so striking and unique, I wanted more. So I looked into the archives and I am not the same since!
I love what is happening ar Mugler right now, it fits the modern aesthetic, but I want an archive blazer or jacket. The exude such power and gracefulness at the same time. I really hope I can find some that will fit me at 6 feet and with wide shoulders.
This collection is jaw dropping and one I envy a lot haha. Some day my Mugler collection will hopefully be just as extensive as yours.
It was Azzedine Alaïa who made all the pattermaking for Mugler's tailoring.

CRAAAZZYYYY COLLECTION!!
My top two favourites are 1) the sculptural dark grey and velvet. 2) The red with the star trek shoulders. Fitted wasp waist….. I see the template and connections to the jackets and suits in the 1940’s. But so TM’ fitted jackets are so artistic and refined. After the 2 world war policies reverted to getting women out of paid work running the country when the men were at war…..and back into domestic servitude…..! The wasp waist got smaller….leading into the 50’s housewife.

When I was on eleven years old, I was obsessed with everything Deee-Lite and to this day The Lady Miss Kier has always been my idol. I'd come across an article in _People Weekly_ called "A Night of Deee-Lite" and in addition to the journalist writing the piece, a designer named Thierry Mugler was also in tow for a night out with the musical group, still riding high on the success of "Groove is in the Heart." Lady Miss Kier was one of Mugler's longtime muses and she'd walked in many of his shows. The article also mentioned how a drag queen had dropped by to hang out with the group as well before going out, but wouldn't be going to one or two of the nightlife spots on the itinerary because he was not in drag. The queen? RuPaul, who only two years later would become a household name.
That article had a profound impact on my life. It was the first time I'd been introduced to the term _drag queen_ and my dear mother has jokingly regretted telling me what a drag queen was ever since: I have now been a professional drag artist myself for (cough) twenty-eight years (cough, cough) and though I've never had the opportunity to meet RuPaul or Thierry (Manfred) Mugler before his passing, I had a dream come true the day I performed the rap to "Groove is in the Heart" while Lady Miss Kier performed it at a Midwest Pride event. Having grown up in Wisconsin, that one article was the key that unlocked a vastly different world - one where I felt I belonged - to me.
As for my favourite in this video: Nothing says Mugler quite like the chrome details of the iconic motorcycle corset from George Michael's "Too Funky" video. Though I have to admit I can't recall whether it was actual Mugler or not, the corset Debi Mazar wore as Spice in _Batman Forever_ is pure artistry, as is the jacket in this collection. I'd wear that thing every single day of the week if I had it.

All of these pieces are so spectacular but my fave right now has to be that canary yellow piece from fall/winter 1998. The color is so vibrant and I love the pearl details. You’re also incredible at explaining the history of these pieces with your trademark magnetic personality.
A few things:
A) This video could have been just a few minutes longer to adequately highlight these STUNNING pieces. If we’re gonna show it, let’s show it!
B) You look absolutely stunning in all the pieces. They’re all phenomenal but it’s the person embodying the garment that brings it to life. If I HAD to pick a piece as a favorite here it would be either the yellow lightening piece, the longer sleeves with red on the inside or the piece with the TM button/broach.
C) I feel like most Queer femmes of a certain age had a bit of an obsession with Mugler. The clothing spoke to us. It was over the top, unapologetically feminine but also outrageous. He also used the most super of models in his shows, LEGENDARY cat walkers who were “past their prime”, iconic actresses and SUPREME pop stars. It was impossible to not be swept up by the magical fantasy.
Beautifully done Ms. Laverne! They are all favorites because you bring the Beauty to each Piece!! -Bob...
