I agree with your closing comments. I've been to Thailand twice, and I'm going back in about two and a half months. There is no where on earth that I would rather wander and eat than Bangkok.
You guys are surely making me jealous haha, looking good! Thank you for making a video about healthy food over there! Watch out of them chili peppers! :D
Great selection of Restaurants Chris. I visited Jai Fai on Maha Chai Road years before she became a Micheline Star place and even back then she had line ups for 40 minutes plus, so waiting for 1 hours is no biggie. I need to go visit her again now that she is a Celebrity
I LOVE TO WATCH THEM...I SWEAR HE MAKES ME WANT TO GO TO BANGKOK.....I CAN LITERALLY WATCH THEM ALL DAY❤️👏🔥💯🙏 I WONDER IF LIVING OVER THERE IS ECONOMICAL??? 🥰🔥💯❤️🙏
Chris, this is one of the things I love about your program. Taking people off the tourist trail and showing them the value of the real Thai experience. Like you said, you just can't beat these little mom and pop food stalls and restaurants. Thanks!
I walked by Krua Khun Puk about 5 times on my way to Det5 and honestly have to say didn't know it was another great place to go. They look so hidden when you are walking down the street you pass by them so quickly!! Great job on this vid.
Pandan leaves, such a delicate but distinctive flavour, that just adds an extra something to dishes, like many ingredients. In Thai cooking though, their expertise in combining these flavour notes together, is what makes it really stand out.
OMG, I have my boring dinner in US while watching you having my favorite Thai food in Thailand. Jok is a dish that Thais like to eat as breakfast because it is very hot when it's served. No wonder you both were sweating 😅. That's Pad see ew is really caught my eyes. Although I am Thai, I have never seen Pad see ew looking that good. I am sure it tastes very good too!
Great to see you two dining at Sudas. I eat here 3 or 4 nights a week. Awesome restaurant and the old lady owner is a legend. Keep the food videos coming Chris
Great video Chris. I will be in Bangkok from late Feb to Mar 10th. Hopefully I’ll bump into you. Been to Bangkok a few times but this time I would like to check out some neighborhoods for my early retirement plan. Any suggestions? Thank you.
Ahh the lady that took you to all that places is such a joy to watch. True pleasure to see someone soo happy while eating good food. Thanks for the share
But way too expensive for what you get!! You can get the same standard for 80bht. She charges 2000bht for food. But she wears funny goggles so that is okay 😂
That dish wasn't chives. But it's the blossom of an onion. There are a lot of them in my garden and we sell them. I prefer stir-fried scallion flowers with chicken liver.
I love your food tourings Chris P. with Haley, it is mouth watering to watch you eating delish food i can only dream of it🤗😋.....until i go back to TH, i love the side walks and little food stalls as well as some higher priced but excellent quality food (only a few times in my holidays ) always at the end to celebrate a awesome time in food heaven !🤩🎵✌✌🥂🥂
Absolutely another great video Chris. We're back in Thailand for the winter currently up north in Chiang Rai province at my Wife's home. At some point I'm hoping to get to spend sometime in Bangkok. It would be cool to run into your guys just for a high five from one of my favorite content creators on UA-cam.
Another great video, Chris! These restaurants that you've explored with Hailey are undoubtedly excellent, and I look forward to trying them soon. However, I must confess that what I often prefer are the authentic street-side eateries on the sidewalks of Bangkok, with their rickety chairs and tables, where you sometimes discover something miraculously delicious!
We are in Bangkok now, Thailand for 2 months. Looking for local family style places is exhausting, but eorth it when you find them. Like the vlogs that show smaller restaurants.
Been going to Suda for years. I think they do many dishes very well. I also recommend the place for people first time in Thailand if they stay in Sukhumvit area. Its less intimidating than streetfood, priced fair, english menu....Its a good spot.
You might have missed it, but they were “hosted”. Chris didn’t have a bill. You can easily do a 2023 menu search for her restaurant to see the most current menu prices. 1,300 THB for the omelette. 2,000 THB for the crab curry. It’s the most expensive “street food” in all of Thailand. Better to go see Chef Gaggan Anand!
Jok was originally what farmers would eat around Asia, Farmers in Rice Growing regions in India eat similar Rice Porridge with condiments as accompaniments to enhance the bland flavors. In Thailand its become a gourmet dish, impressive.
MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View One Star: High quality cooking Jay Fai has long been a street food icon, and for good reason - the begoggled chef’s signature crispy, golden-brown crab omelettes are simply unparalleled. If you’re looking for another reason to love the local legend, then also try her excellent stir-fried noodles with seafood and gravy. This is a deservedly popular spot and they don’t take bookings, so be sure to arrive early and be prepared to queue. Micke 🇸🇪
Solid little video Chris. I've been intrigued to visit Jay Fai. But, I heard she basically charges fine dining prices for basically a hole in the wall street food place. I know the ingredients she uses are expensive. And as your video shows the wait times are long and I heard you need to make reservations. Honestly I'd rather just eat at Terminal 21 or MBK Center and get more value for my money.
Been once before. Only went to see the lady with the goggles. She wasn’t there the time I went, but still got charged the same high prices 😂 It was nice though!
She cooks the food herself ...so even after finally getting a seat which is about 2hrs its still another 1hour wait for the food... and the price is relatively expensive....definitely 5star if u can skip the queue
@@Visor8888 When we first started traveling to Thailand decades ago, we were young, budget-conscious travelers and JF and Suda were a good fit. That is no longer the case. No idea what thoughts enter the minds of young travelers these days, but JF might well be their answer. Suda is still great for an ice cold beer outside. Hemingway’s is long gone, though that is what put Suda on the map.
Went this year. It was a really long wait (2.5 hours) to get overpriced, overhyped food. The staff was stressed because the people waiting were stressed. I have had a better crab omelette in Bangkok for less than a quarter of the price at Jay Fai. However, the pad see ew and tom yum were quite tasty.
Apple Cider Vinegar refreshing drink Add ½ cm hot water in a cup Add ½ teaspoon of honey Stir until honey is dissolved Add 3 ice cubes and stir for about 20 seconds Add 1 cap or teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar ( Organic if possible - otherwise regular ) Top up cup with cold filtered water and stir Optional ingredients for additional health benefits Microwave a small amount of grated garlic and ginger with one teaspoon of water for 20 to 30 seconds. I am UPSET!! I woke up in a cold sweat a month ago thinking to myself "what if I start up a tech company like yelp but for all the little nameless mom and pop shops! THEN I can move to Thailand on a tech startup visa!" And now I hear about TEENEE, and I keep wondering WHY do I miss the bus on EVERYTHING??? 😢😢😢
Chris , pleasure meeting you mate. So love your videos 👍 (Dougie from Scotland)
haha......nice one Dougie!
I agree with your closing comments. I've been to Thailand twice, and I'm going back in about two and a half months. There is no where on earth that I would rather wander and eat than Bangkok.
Oh, I can't wait! I'm starving myself here in preparation!!!
They put oyster sauce on the greens? Drat!
TeeNee is downloaded and activated!

Great video! Jok with chili flakes is a must for me. Seeking out the wonderful and sometimes hidden mom-and-pop shops cannot be overstated enough.
My wife and I love Suda. Their crab fried rice is heaven as is their Thai beef salad. Thanks for showing us a little heaven.
Chris, you have to do more of these restaurant reviews. Enjoyed this video a lot

food is great, even when there are too much options on the menu

Sudar was the go to when I lived and worked in BKK living on Sukhumvit - used to sell the coldest beer in BKK. Recommend if your downtown

I've been a customer of Suda's since the early 1990's. It's always a great relaxed place and the food is great!

Been BKK few times, but years ago. Got to go back now, probably for few weeks. Near retirement anyway.
Hi Chris, is it Osmo pocket 3 that you're using? Video look even better!!

One of your best videos. Couldn't help but notice that you didn't tell us what your check-bin totaled at Raan Jay Fai.😊

Chris, more food tours!
I was just at the second restaurant last night. Not bad despite the party area.
Stir-fried clams are available with chili paste and without chili paste, but both are delicious.😉🤗😊👍😋🐚🐌

Sadly, Jay Fai has morphed into a tourist trap joke! Not worth the hype in 2023. Twenty years ago, it was a much different story.
Agreed! Jay Fai is a waste of money.
