Are we being manipulated by Traveler’s claim of going “above & beyond” when they already received the money for the policy which would have gone unclaimed if the media didn’t step in. Above & beyond is if Traveler’s would have stepped up when their policy holder was in breach of a contract they had a policy on & said we’re looking at whether the policy covers this issue on behalf of the customers BEFORE the media gets involved & it gets dragged out a long time. @@Chance-ry1hq Sorta… Travelers did it because they knew their name would be mentioned several times in a national news broadcast in a very positive light. A very smart executive realized this would be excellent advertising, “look at how we take care of people that aren’t even ours”. Without the news, they would not have stood to gain all of this positive publicity and likely would not have seen it financially beneficial to cover a $300,000 bill they were not responsible for. They did the math and figured out it was essentially a $3 million ad they were getting for a 90% discount.

Horizon got fed up and decided the only recourse since they were not getting paid on earlier shipments was to hold the 180 bikes since this was the last shipment of bikes. The actual amount was $319K which included Finland, Nice, and Spain. TBT did not pay those shipments which basically added to the total. We have had them for 2 or so years now, they are pretty good I would say. No insurence is prefect, but I would say we have had less issues with them than others in the past.
We had an accident that was not our fault, first accident we have had in our life.... a giant log with branches sticking up like a giant caltrop of car death was in the road. It was dropped from someones load a ways ahead of us onto the road and we couldn't change lanes to avoid it and didn't know it was there till it was too late. when the car ahead of us swerved suddenly it appeared literally out of no where to us with no warning. Glad others were able to change lanes and swerve out of the way but sadly we couldn't with traffic to our right and a barrier like midian to our left.
We slowed down to where we would have been able to not hit it and get around it safely, but the truck behind us wasn't as attentive or their brakes were failing and they hit us hard from behind and shoved us into that tree in the road. A car behind them also didn't stop in time. Our car was the only one that was able to drive away that day, Rav 4's are hardly cars for sure, but the back swing out door was mashed in and that spare tire on the back took the brunt of the accident and saved us from a more jarring outcome. Funny enough no taillight was broken other than a small crack and no other doors or much of the surrounding panels from a distance looked effected (it was effected but it was barely... it almost looked comical honestly)
We got lots of documentation and photos with police reports and called Travelers and they said that we for sure weren't at fault given the clear evidence we did our best to avoid an accident. They that day worked with us on things, got in contact with the other insurance companies to figure the mess out of who was at fault behind the scenes, and gave us instructions to take our car into a shop to figure out if our car would be fixed or totaled (spoiler... the cost to replace all the surrounding parts and door would be at new part cost which barely exceed the value of the car so sadly it was totaled... wouldn't be surprised if it made the best parts car or would be fixed up it was still in amazing condition despite the door situation) after it was totaled we handed over the documents and keys to insurance and got our settlement and was able to start looking for a replacement car.
I think the whole process was over within 2 weeks for the bulk of things and we got our deposit and remainder small settlement amount after insurance figured things out with the other two a month or two latter. It was a pretty quick thing, which from stories from other people with other insurance companies is almost unheard of being that quick... although I do think having been cleared for sure of fault helps and that it was involving other people and not just us and an inanimate object. so thats my 2 cents on the matter. we are coming up on renewal time here soon so we will see if that accident causes us any increase of costs beyond the usual inflation we have been having... so keep that in mind as well. We do hope to keep them as they made things easy and helpful vs other companies we have had in the past with ridiculous hoops and hurdles and hours long wait times on the phones for nonsense.

Sounds like this individual paid a lot for the service. Not comfortable with the notion that the subcontractor can hold property hostage that doesn’t even belong to the primary contractor (which sounds pretty much like a marketer).
In construction a client can be sued by a subcontractor for non-payment by a primary contractor-which is why a client who is diligent should see that the primary has bond insurance. But who is going to do that for bike shipment?

the thing with the insurance is that the bikes would be considered lost and the bike owners could have claimed for the loss of the bikes, which means that if the shipping company sold off the "cargo" to pay for the debt, the insurance company would have been on the hook for much more. paying a much smaller amount out as "a good deed" makes way better profit sense then paying out a much larger amount by sticking to their guns and not paying this out, but still having to pay out for the loss of the bikes.

A (service) is a means of enabling value by facilitating outcomes that customers want to achieve, without the customer having to manage specific costs and risks.

Horizon shipping treating the customers goods like they can legally sell them. It's theft, and it's kind of weird and shows you how they think if they took people's stuff rather than sue tribike.

The problem with suing TriBike was that TriBike had no money. Horizon wasn't going to benefit so they felt if they held the bikes as ransom they could recoup some of their costs.

They had every right to put a lean on the goods, they held no contract with the bike owners. They had a contract with Truebike for shipment. It's rare but a trucking company can do the same thing, even though the receiver may have already paid for the product.

I’m glad they got their bikes back.

Good publicity for Travelers. I've used them for my automobile and house. Never had a problem.

Then there’s something to cheer about! Don’t get played by ‪corporatism‬ bullshit!

Somebody has way too much money to pay that amount of money for a bike. I ride a bike almost every day that cost me less than $200

Can we do this for PG&e?
