Sir I am so impressed with this little USDX FH Transceiver,,, I appreciate all the information you share on UA-cam,,, I use SSB,,, QPS Is a lot of fun for me!!! Thank You for all the information you share,,, Very Best Regards Roger Fethkenher AD0YR…
Thank you, Nice video!!I I loved the SSB audio I just may buy one of these soon. I really liked hearing the unit run. I'm running my used kenwood ts 430 s for 40 years so far... I have run qrp for many years & I have worked stations all over the world and loved it !!! GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS, 73. Kent, kj4ww, miami fl.
Hello I just perchased the usdx + I also have that radio . Love mine does urs still work. Mine does . 73s ki6pxv Rodney lamay . Ps love ur youtube videos ......
Thank you. But I set up mine similar to yours and I can only choose between 6 and 10 band, for which always then defaults to 6. Also the Mike does not appear to transmit. I am not complaining to you. Rather, I am hoping someone can tell me where I am going wrong.
That is a known problem. I no longer use the “Select Band” in the menu. If you look at the frequency in the display, you can see a cursor under one of the numbers. If you press the main button the cursor will move. Select the first number and then use the knob to change the numbers. For instance, If I’m on 3.5MHz but want 7.1 I go to the 3 and spin the knob to select 7. Press the knob to highlight the 5 and spin to get 1 etc. Actually quicker than using the menus.
I found this too locks on 10m if I go down there in the band selector menu, Like has been said if you use the VFO to go back and then band selector will work I just don't go back to 10 unless I really need to.
I just got one this week and it would not transmit using the microphones PTT, vox mode seemed to work, so not sure what fix will be at this point and time. The hash it makes when changing modes and settings can also be a bit annoying..Fred VE3FAL
I’ll make another video this weekend Fred, trying the various aettings and listening to the hash. If any. Mine has a Baofeng type speaker mic. You’re not using the linear amp PTT jack are you?
What is the difference between the uSDR and the uSDX? I've seen both out there but can't find any documentation on what/if any difference? Tnx fer the video
Well mine says SDR on the case but SDX on the PCB. I know there are different versions of boards (mine is quite a late one at v2.7.1) It may be just a “brand name?” Just make sure you buy the latest revision is all I can suggest.
DL2MAN explains the difference. He came up with the concept. The Chinese changed the last character and sell what used to be a non commercial open source project.
Nice video and good suggestions. I received mine without Batteries. I need to rotate anti clockwise to go upwards. Any suggestions/recommendations to change. Also can’t receive any stations with long wire antenna. Anyone can help or suggestions. Thanks & Best 73’s
No suggestions for reverse VFO, might be best to ask in the forums. For a long wire (which I use) a tuner is recommended, especially for TX as high SWR can blow the output transistors
@@m0jcfhamradio75 Thank you! On the back of the radio, what is the function of the "CAT PTT OUT" and "MIC KEY" . I presume the "Key" references CW, but what about "Mic" (when there already is a microphone "KJ" - Kenwood Jack???")
I managed a QSO on the other side of North America with this radio. Very impressed and happy with this little radio.
I've managed Nova Scotia from SE England. Fun radio for the price (Mine was £100)

I lied. It says uSDX on case and board. Sorry...

How can I connect a booster to boost the output of this transciever?
Where did you get it from. Various Chinese companies make this. Some are reliable some not. I am looking for a good source.
I bought this nearly two years ago from a seller on Ebay.
I'll have to go back and check.
Do you know what kind of connector goes to cat ptt out want to use on ft8
I "think" it's a 4 terminal 3.5mm jack. The tip is MIC then GRND then PTT and finally SPKR.
So you'll be looking at the two centre rings for GRND/PTT
Thanks for the info😊
good description ....let us no if tx on 555 and also fm/11m.cheers
Yeah I wonder about 11m too, but I'm guessing no
I checked on 11m and it transmits 5W.
However, I’ve not monitored the receive.
@@m0jcfhamradio75 tx audio on 11m is very poor
@@T.M.G2014 I son’t use it on 11 so not an issue for me. :-)

Is only ssb or you can also transmit fm am etc????73
All mode.
Is it possible to talk to the citizen band in the 27 mhz band?
I think you can but I’ve not used it there.
Does this radio have an internal ATU/SWR???????
Thank you!
Not an ATU no.
@@m0jcfhamradio75
Thank yoi
Does this work on 12VDC, or must it have. 13.8?
For this video I was using 12.5V from an old HP server power supply.
This does not appear to affect power output.
I wouldn’t go beyond 13.8V
