M0JCF Ham Radio
Приєднався 20 лип 2021
Not a lot to say. Just a channel for me to upload my videos - Operating, Construction, Design. Will all be Ham/Amateur Radio related. Not CB or Freebanding. I'm not anti those, but keeping this channel streamlined.

Thanks for the demonstration! I have been a ham since the 1970s and this is my first commercial QRP radio but it is different from yours. Yours is a USDX+ mine is a USDR+ with the orange bands around the case (which means that it is a knock off) but I set mine up using your settings and it it is working like it should. I can't wait until I can get it into the field and see how well it works.
I no longer have it now.
little confused hockley essex is that normal a blind spot for your location
No. But we were both going via aurora, so a lot more difficult.
@@m0jcfhamradio75 silly ? how do u know ???
I keep getting Connecting to the serial port... Failed to connect to the serial port.
Really push the connector hard in. Or get the cable I used?
@@m0jcfhamradio75 ordered
Ok thanks bro, do you know the price range they go for ??.
I paid £165 for this one. I've paid as low as £100 But £175 - 230 is reasonable
Blessed love my brother, Great link up on 10meter, where can I get one of these radio to buy, 757GX, or GX2, watching from Jamaica west Indies !!
The only place I can say is Ebay. It's where most of my 757GX csme from.
Nice Work!
Thanks!
Some nice contacts, although a couple of those guys would benefit by easing up on the speech processor. Btw, the S in RST has nothing to do with the S-meter reading. Someone could be S-2 and still be 5-9.
And I forgot, at 33:43 your camera changed polarity. Lol.
I'll agree to disagree on your final point. S2 is Very Weak as I recall. S9 is Very Strong. I think the RST was written before S meters were a "tool." So now, I go by S meter. But for me, R is the important bit.
@m0jcfhamradio75 Fair enough on the agree to disagree.
One of the first rigs I owned when first licensed in the mid 80's. I had a lot of fun with it. Ivan VE7IVN
I just paid 600 for one. Four-modules equipped goes for 1000 stateside. Great catch. 73
Fantastic. Greetings from G1YFR. Yorkshire. Originally from old Kent road. Thanks for posting.
I bought one to put into the car. Not a bad radio for the price with lots of features. My Uniden AX144 from the 80s, I think has a better recieve with better audio tone. But this radio sure offers a lot of bang for the dollar.
Fine Business with that beauty !!
thank you for the contact Mark! 73' from South Sweden. 😉🎙
You're welcome.
great stuff a good ragchew is always to be welcomed hi hi 73s
RIP John Vernon. Yanky Sugar Bravo..
what is the cat system?
Computer Aided Transceiver. Just a way to connect the rig to a computer. Back when this radio was launched, most likely a Commodore 64 or Amiga 500? But today, with the correct cable, any PC should be OK.
You get it all the time if you watch all the UA-camrs
Get what Andy?
Same one tuning on the band we’re you are trying to have a QSO
@Andy2e0ree Ah got ya. Yeah, bad practice but no one will admit it. That said, a good notch filter should null it out.
Growing up in Brighton, have fond memories of Amberley museum. 73, M7DKU.
Top end radio the 736..
This seems to be just what I've been looking for😊😊
I've been rumbled!! Many thanks for the chat this morning, and hope to catch up with you again before too long. 73 from Ed M0MNG.
You over explain. Wa6ols. I need menu settings.
wow..best one iv seen ...awesome ...thanks for posting , 73's
Is that a swan 350 there i see just the corner of just to the right of the uSDRX?
Yes. I have a Swan 350 a 400 and an English copy, the KW Atlanta.
When you say kill the output do you mean killing the TX? I did try a couple of TX's before looking up the settings when i saw I wasnt getting a reading on my tinysa, I see a reading on my tinysa now and I tried to listen to myself but it says a little bad, but maybe thats because the Quansheng can only receive ssb and I was transmitting in LSB? Its getting me a little worried
Yes. Blow the final RF transistors.
@@m0jcfhamradio75 It still seems to be transmitting tho so hopefully i got lucky
@@m0jcfhamradio75 someone said my mic sounds over modulated/really bad, but im looking inside and i cant see any signs of anything thats been blown
Still a good contact 😊
For a moment I thought it was an instruction vid from Tom Hardy!!.... great work m8, ta!
Fine Business ! Where’s your Ten Tec Rig. ?? lol. 73
Buried with all the other vintage gear at the moment. Like most of it, not working.
Mostly right, but that's not what the Reference Frequency setting is for. This radio uses an Si5351a clock generator for generating the local oscillator signals, and that chip can use either a 24.000000 MHz or 27.000000 MHz crystal. There are many builders of the uSDX radio, and some of them choose to use the 24 MHz crystal, while others choose 27 MHz. This setting is so that you can use the same firmware on both variations of the design.
Wow!
I had something weird happen doing this. During the flash, the computer went blue screen and crashed, and the radio appeared bricked, as turning it off and on did not turn on the screen or radio and it appeared dead. But, I unplugged data cable, and re-started everything, and loaded the patch back up, plugged in the cable, turned it on with the ptt button in, and I got the flashlight/prgramming mode back. I Flashed it again, and this time it "took", and works fine. Hope this helps if this happens to you.
Sounds like an OS or computer HW crash that corrupted the radio software rather than the radio causing it.
Fine Business !!!
Fine Business! 73

I got 1 as a loaner so i got a 817 and then a 991 sweet radio kg6mn
nice, a little upset i missed it, nice video
Look forward to seeing the video of the Mod.
Does your radio get hot
Hot enough to blow finals and the power regulator. I sold this quite some time ago
I saw someone on UA-cam leave it on transmit (carrier) with no antenna connected for a long period of time to try and blow the finals. To his surprise he didn't break it. Foolish and wasteful thing to do in my opinion. But showed it isn't a fragile unit.
Back into HAM now and this rig was my first rig in 1979. Radio looks in very good shape. Thanks for the video !
Mars mod for this.... .
Gonna try to get into the shed on Sunday, nice hearing some familiar voices. 73s M7SFC Southern Fried Chicken
