I have xxl paws. I have a 3v LTW Outback(saber grind) black micarta with natural liners. For my uses best knife I have ever used in the field and I've used many over the decades.
@@GTMGunTotinMinnesotan DLT is out and I emailed LTWK and they said they're not working on any right now; they're trying to catch up from when they were forced to close so it's understandable.
I have a genesis 3v in rich lite on the way How do you like the 3v? How is sharpening it? I think ltwk runs theirs softer than bark river so I’m just wondering how it compares to my ultralight bushcrafter.
Fully agree that the flat grind is better on food prep where the scandi is a bit stronger and better for woodwork. Being a guy with XL size hands I always want a bigger handle. Where the spear point Kephart style blade is no eye candy for me it is functional. I found a Joker knife, model Trampero in 14C28N steel but it has the same dimensions, perfect fit and finish but only cost me some 60 USD including shipping.
Nice Knife! Have you ever tried one of Spydercos Proficient or Bushcraft models? Designed by Chris Claycomb they both have the most comfortable handles I've tried. Thanks for video
Does anybody own both any TRC knife and any LT Wright knife, to compare the 2 brands? I mean, who makes the BEST general use outdoor knife out there? That's what I want to know. PS That doesn't depend on the use, or personal preferences. When we say the best for general use, it must come down to 1 company. (Custom/handforged not included, also, since Survive knives make batches, then I don't consider them only custom maker). So, what's you opinion? Who makes the best quality/performance fixed blade knives out there? TRC knives, LT Wright, Bark River, Fallkniven?
@@GTMGunTotinMinnesotan Well, I didn't own a TRC knife back then, neither had seen your response, but now that I got both, I have to say, that yes, they are kind of thin handles, that's why I got their Mille Cuori, which seemed it had a thicker handle and it does. However, it's still a hair thiner than what I would like it to be. It's almost perfect, but when the blades and grinds get thicker, I like a thicker handle too. I still haven't got any LT Wrights, because they are more difficult to get here in Europe, but if I ever have the chance, I will get it for sure! I wish I had your Burgandy Genesis, with that sheath, it's a dream!! Enjoy!!
@@GTMGunTotinMinnesotan Tops ... I love my Brakimo blade BUT the handle is bad . I'm used to it and can use it just fine but it's annoying . They refuse to change .
“Weak whimpy handles” are for for skinning. Have a good time with a fat handled knife harvesting skins. I imagine someone will say they do it all the time. Then why are you using a 400$ knife for something its not meant to do?
I had to get a Gen3 to fill my hands. Couldn't agree with you more.

Welcome to the big blade handle train 👍
I totally agree with you, I have XL hands and a thick handle is money to me. I hate thin handles.
You're not kidding about finding 1 in stock. Been looking for a 3V scandi genesis for months to no avail.
Shoot dude, maybe DLT trading? Or LT Direct?

What is the thickness of the handle on both

I like it a lot

I always thought the kephart was ugly until i bought an lt next gen. It has really grown on me and now I'm looking for a genesis/gen5
@@rorydavis The Kephart is ugly. That doesn't mean it's not functional.
I think the spyderco para military 2 has amazing handle geometry and contouring. I got the teal para 2 in cpm-s90v. Have you ever held a para 2 ?
Yep, it's great for pocket carry, but not comfortable for hard work more than a few minutes in my opinion. Great company!
I know with bark river liners do not add add any thickness on their knives

I'd like to feel one in hand sometime, I like the s90v steel choice!

Currently I do not, I like their steel choices though. Handles seem small and thin?

Love my GNS. #1st
Cannot agree more... I'm so tired of small grips and wasting money on knives that just fall short or "thin" .
Yeah I don't dare mention names, but some companies just don't seem to learn! New blade designs every year, same disappointing handles.

I don't own any 400 dollar knives, but if I get one I'm sure you'll tell me how wrong I am. Thanks!
