Another epic trip and awesome episode. Keep up the 'Geology with Noah' sets as well, interesting to learn about Canadian geology, glaciation and all things nerdy.
Hi Guys. Really love all your videos. We ran the middle part of the Aguanish in 1998, about 70 miles worth in a week. We flew in to Lac Harvey coming in over those cliffs from the east. There was no burn then between Lac Harvey and Lac Padoue, though there was old burn below there. That last ferocious set above Padoue where you portaged over boulders and then lined the left we lined the whole thing down the right shore. Very intense lining as I recall. Below Padoue at the monster set we portaged the whole thing on the left - over a mile - still referred to by all of us as the portage from hell. You guys portage through some ugly stuff on the right and then very bravely ran and lined some of it. Dang. Also we took 2 days to do what you did in 1. What a river. Can't wait to see the rest . Cheers from the U.S.
Babe wake up Northern Scavenger posted and the Toronto boys are back. In all seriousness, a huge part of these videos is seeing some of your Toronto buddies join. These guys talk exactly like me and my friends, and to see them taking on the great outdoors is amazing.
A few comments :) 1) Awesome videos - I look forward to them every week 2) Why are you not using your spray tarps (I think that's the term) after having your gear almost ruined earlier in the trip? 3) How did you all meet? And what got you into adventuring/canoeing/long trips? Thanks for taking the time to bring us all along on this epic journey.
"There was time in this country when only hardened people could navigate the landscape. A time when roads were rivers, cars were canoes and travel was grueling. A small breed of people in this country still go to find that challenge of the land, they push their limits, work relentlessly and absorb the hardship, all to look for the essence of the north. When these folks find themselves on the brink of stepping into that challenge, they go in head first and just fucking send it."
bold of me to say but I've never waited this anxiously on someone to post to youtube lmfao,,, one day I'm planning on a solo trip to grey owls cabin but for now watching and learning will do just fine. AMAZING JOB you guys and congrats on completing this journey, and THANK YOU for sharing!
I've been watching for a while now, and just had to comment. You guys are just blowing me away with your skills. The geological comments are definitely welcome.
I can only suspect it would take longer than in a more southern border boreal type forest, to regrow after a fire. Many of the clips seen show decent water to pole in, lets not forget the pole. for when you have a broken paddle a pole can be had right of the stream bank or so. Easy to crafter from standing dead or even green. Speaking of cutting trees you could cut a small green tree in one of the burns and count the growth rings for an idea of how old the burn is. Broken paddle number two, not to harp on it but a pole is so handy in these class one and two rapids and even into some class threes. It sure takes time to learn the skill but well worth it. You guys should do a spin off of Under the Yoke podcast. Just a though record around the fire in the evening and offer up a series on this. any topic including glacial till, hey, maybe that could be the title, Glacial Till podcast.
Man, your videos are like watching my friends and I doing section hikes, climbs, and other adventures. It pretty plain to say YOU GUYS ARE HARDCORE BACKCOUNTRY STUDS. You roll 50, and look back at those days and think, live it bros! Run with the wind! Follow those rivers. live your mountain dreams. It ruins you forever, it something that will pull you forever away from the civilized society....We still do a lot, we just wake up sore and have to losen up the ol body to get it going. Love the adventure, keep em coming!
The man made object was most likely a Kamutik/Qamutiq. The metal was likely what we call shoeing that goes on the bottom of the runners. Metal shoeing has been replaced by teflon for quite some time.
I love watching you guys it's such a a pleasure watching you see beautiful rivers and mountain, you working very hard on the water, and you guys very good team, thank you for sharing the video and good luck.
Country is so awesome! I don’t know what to comment on there’s so much, paddling those sets, broken paddle’s, fringing huge bear tracks and no shortage of bugs. Dinners are always interesting!
Man the Cinematography on this channel is phenomenal! Just an epic voyage, I'm not a canoeist, but I am an outdoor enthusiast. Thanks for posting these videos.
Yous are just rock’s this. Amazing paddling, lining, portaging, scenery and also fantastic looking meals at the end of an exhausting day. Can’t wait for more.😘
I love this series! I think it's one of your best adventures yet! The editing is excellent, the story is exciting and fun, and the drone shots are epic!
Love the release of these videos! I always look forward to it, but have to decide if I watch it that night or early the next morning. Usually night of wins out!
Gents! Another amazing episode! That portage could of been a show stopper. I really enjoyed the footage at 31 min, its great to read the river with you, and see the lines you're shooting for. You lads got the skills!!
Thank you for all the work you guys put into the footage and editing. It would be cool to see a breakdown of your editing process, or maybe even a budget breakdown.
Epic trip and as always...professional video and scenic beauty. I appreciate the small quantity of ads. Unlike the two clowns from Ontario...the Baird boys.
it is going to be hard to un see the last visual of the belly button. After so much great scenery and crazy rapids, blackflys in the belly button. Looks like they left no lint.
Congratulations on your strength and determination to get this far and with such good humor! Since your trip is sponsored by the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, I'm wondering if that sponsorship requires a report from you at the end of your trip. If so, what kind of information are you gathering? I like Noah's obvious enthusiasm for geology!
About the wildfires, the burnt area along that portion of the Aguanish is the result of ~44 000 ha fire dating from 2013. That year was a pretty big one for wildfires all over Québec. Côte-Nord usually receives more precipitations than western and central Québec, although fires (and some notably huge ones) are still frequent in this area.
As usual, I loved the video. Had to pause half way through and take my dog for a walk. I was feeling guilty sitting and watching you all bust your hump. Keep them coming guys.

The landscape and scenery on this episode are just stunning. Your incredible filming shows it off so vividly. Those bear prints looked huge! 🐻🐾😳
This is a great Wednesday night tradittion now. Thanks!
Wow, flying a drone off a canoe, very cool! great video.
Kept the nerves rolling haha

American here, never realized how unexplored Canada really is. Love the series!
Amazing edit! Perfectly captures the beauty and the struggle out there!
It is so good to see young people still enjoying life, and not the politics of life.
I've been watching for a while now, and just had to comment. You guys are just blowing me away with your skills. The geological comments are definitely welcome.
Thanks Lae :)
Can't wait to get out on my kayak camping, thanks for all the TIPS. I'll be careful. GREAT SHOW KIDS !! Lets go BRANDON

Quite possibly a bob sled or dog sled. Great episode as usual.👍👍
Quite the scenery there. Landscape is different than I thought you had over there. Midwest US here. Great vid
The belly button was the perfect ending. No one could script an ending that good. Hilarious and unexpected. Award winning. 👏
The bugs really stepped it up for that ending 🦟🪰🦟🪰🦟🪰
By far my favorite episode so far. There is just something about the geology that rocks me as well.
Haha just wait until you get a little further. You might have a new fav 😉

Man a beautiful section of river. Bull dog duct tape works good on a split paddle. I’ve used it, not on white water though. Be safe.
Wow. Amazing tough stert!
Stunning views
That portage with all the hidden holes. Oh my gawd! You guys are tough as nails!
Those mountains are insane! Overwhelming beautiful in person, I bet
Lordy the scenery… rock on boys…
