I love Floyd Mayweather. I interviewed him in 2013 at BET HH AWARDS in Atlanta. Wow he literally still looks the same. So proud of this man. He's so graceful and generous.
Floyd similarly left his promoter when he couldn't get him the fights he requested to the point of buying himself out of his (Top Rank) contract. Tank fought through his contract which ended with the Rolly Romero fight (which Tank never asked for or wanted). Floyd helped Tank out early on but he also said he wasn't going to work with any other Promoters while Tank was with Mayweather Promotions. Now that Tank is on his own (still being advised by Al Haymon) he can be in more control of his career than ever before as well as not having to give Floyd his "promoter fee". It also can't help when your promoter is still Moonlighting as a "Fighter" and promoting himself (and his Strip Clubs) more than his "Star Fighter" 🤷♂ I think Tank will be ok as long as he remains focused.
Floyd pretty much took the spotlight from Tank whenever they were in a room together. But Thats not what Top Rank did to Floyd back in the day. Floyd left Top Rank cuz they were tryin to get him to fight Margarito who Floyd thought was too big/dangerous
Hence why so many young up and coming stars don't sign with Mayweather Promotions - example; Shakur Stevenson when he was coming out of the 2016 Rio Olympics. He went to Top Rank and Floyd was butthurt and unfollowed him on social media.

When you promote yourself more than you do your active fighters, you can't get upset when one of said fighters decide to breakout on their own. There's a reason why he's leaving Mayweather Promotions and staying with Al Haymon cos that is really the formula behind every fighter that side of the house. Notice the I, I, I (singular), that's how it's been with Floyd. Putting Ellerbe to run his company is still about singular 'cos Ellerbe can't question his authority and pretty much a Yes man. It isn't Floyd strong suit and fact he kept Ellerbe to do so and not a true business person speaks volumes and shows why the company may not survive with the loss of Tank whom by the way was discovered by Adrian Broner and brought to Floyd. Golden Boy lost the biggest fighter in the world, they are still relevant.
