apartment hunting (again).

- In early 2022, I embarked on (what I hope will be) my final apartment rental search in Portugal, before I purchase a property in Lisbon.
This was by far the most difficult apartment hunting process I have ever experienced. Primarily because of the influx of demand from foreigners, but also because I wasn’t in Portugal for the majority of the process. The video depicts 16 of the 43 total apartments I viewed in Lisbon and Porto over nearly five months. Most of those flats were viewed over video call, so I do not have recorded footage to share.
Please note this is a high-level overview of the 16 of 43 apartments I viewed, not super in-depth tours. This footage was not originally intended for a video but more for my personal reference.

Thanks for your work in putting this video together. One year later, and you are still my favorite DJ.
Thanks for sharing with us. I can only imagine how tough that was. Glad you didn't settle and found what you wanted.
Thank you!
wow the views from the second apartment are amazing
I mean some of these places were nice but still shocked at the 6 months in advance is crazy to me. I know they have encountered folks from either San Fran, LA, or, NYC. Just crazy!!! At least you were able to find a place and I know you’ll be able to get that dream home as well!
Prior to last year, 6 months up front was rare. But unfortunately it's become a lot more common. It's all of the foreigners that are to blame. Especially the ones from California... Even when the landlord is not looking for that much up front, many are offering it to secure an apartment since demand is so high. What they don't realize is that not only are they pricing the Portuguese even further out of the market, but they also aren't guaranteed that money back. Honestly, don't get me started...
this channel is great!!
I'm also soon in the market for an apartment in Lisbon or Porto and I'm curious as to what the rough price range was for these apartments. Thank you so much for sharing!
All of the apartments I viewed both virtually and in person ranged in price from about €1,200 to € 2,200.
Hi. Please can you share links to apartments ads for us? Or how can we get legit apartments online since we can't get there at the moment?
I find it odd that you consider top floor as an advantage. Any flat that is the last floor of a building is an absolute no no for me. The probability of having water infiltration from the roof on a top floor is HUGE. And why is having an electric water tank a disadvantage? You prefer flats with gas? I don't.
Well I find it odd that you're so concerned about my preferences for my place. I can wholeheartedly say, I do not care or have any opinions on what YOU prefer for the housing you pay for and live in 🙃.
@@JuliesCuration Why so much aggression? Did I say something wrong? Isn't the aim of posting this kind of videos for people to comment? I'm genuinely curious why you prefer gas (cause it is dangerous), and I thought you'd like to be warned that many (most?) last floor flats in Portugal have serious issues with infiltrations. There must be some weird explanation for you lashing at me like this, because your reaction makes no sense...
@@UbuTube The aggression is because you're projecting your preference onto others. Just because you or most people prefer gas doesn't mean she should conform to the majority, and your post didn't have a genuinely curious tone. Even in your second post, you're still projecting your personal preference over which floor you would like to live on and your electric water tank preference. Genuinely curiosity is to ask the question and leave your preference OUT.
@@pamtucker9023 English is not my mother language, subtle inferences may vary by culture. Why can't you tell your preferences while discussing an issue, and while warning people about peculiarities/hidden dangers in Portuguese buildings?
@@UbuTube Thank you for stating English is not your mother language. It's ok to advise others of the pros and cons while discussing an issue. Your choice to be on the first floor and use an electric water tank is based on your personal preference and experiences. Educating people is about giving others informed information and letting them choose what's best for them, even if you feel they are making the wrong choice.
