Salaries in Spain are shit. Just to give you an idea, the median Barcelona citizen earns 30K gross a year. Even if you are like CMO it is unlikely to get over 45-50k, and if you work only as a marketer, chances are you'll earn around 25-30k, which makes Barcelona apartments extremely expensive. Of course, if you come from the US, where salaries for highly skilled workers are much higher, then it might seem cheap. But it is actually extremely expensive...
@@helenafranco5091 Those salaries aren't shit. It's actually high to earn 30k a year in Europe. And those apartments are on the more expensive side because of it's being in a city. As example I pay around 900$ a month for a 3 bedroom apartment but if I would be in the capital city of my country that apartment would be twice the price even though we earn around 30k a year.
because the salaries. If you had remote job that paid american salaries, you would do well. That being said, I pay over $700 a month on car payment, insurance, and fuel, which when I was in spain I didn't need.
@@ommi_k 30k is bad compared to american salaries. I made 55k out of college in America. the way salaries are spent are just much different for americans and europeans. easier in spain to not have a car, which saves quite a bit.
Oh wow! I didn‘t know Barcelona is as expensive as Stuttgart (Germany) 🙀 my bf lived in a shared flat in Vigo (Spain) for 200€ and it was a huge space... these rent prices are crazy
It must have been a while ago because renting in Vigo is now quite expensive due to lack of flats being rented. A studio is rented for 600€ aprox. Also it dependes on the neighbourhood, of course. But not especially cheap
@@gabius83 the thing in Spain is that mortgages are inaccessible to almost anyone under 35 years old because you can only access a mortgage for 80% of the purchasing amount. Since a flat typically costs 200-300K, you need at least 20% of that plus another 10% of taxes. So 60K savings for a 200K flat. Taking into account we pay 400-500 euros a month of rent and most people earn 1200 euros a month, It is super hard to save that amount of money.

Hi Katie!! Loooove your video. Not sure if you’ve made a video abt this topic, but I’d love to hear you talk about your marketing journey, your interests, and tips for marketing students!
Loved this video, so interesting to see apartment in other cities + really interesting that all of these apartments are furnished - how convenient. Your bf picked a great unit!
OH WOWW! I am Barcelona born and raised and the prices SHOCK ME!!! The first apartment before I moved to the UK almost 2 years ago was priced at about 2500. Insane, take advantage of this!
dont swing the cameras like it's a swing for the children.. stabilize it a bit and do not concentrate on the floor when filming... the idea of the video is nice, but the way it was presented so-so
Couple of questions: any good Facebook group recommendations for finding roommates in barça? Also, is it possible to get a 1 bedroom for €850 or less somewhere not as central like Gracia for example?
Yes to both! I'd recommend Badi to look for roommates or any Facebook group (there are a ton of those), also a friend of mine just got a 2 double room penthouse (not too big but with a nice sunny terrace) for €900 :)
There are flats for 600 euros, many for 700-900...and then the ones she went visit. Those were all central and fully furnished. Bad choice imho especially given the incomes in Barelona but to each his own
Not sure if you found our dream spot (I am late I know lol), but I lived in Barca for 1 year half and had a place in Les Corts neighborhood. Very affordable buildings near the stadium, train stations and not far from central area. Hope it helps!!
Who did you use to find these furnished apartments? I would love the contact, I plan on moving to Barça soon and need someone to help me find an apartment!
Love your videos🧡 but it would be great if you moved the camera a little slower and smoother, the experience of looking through the apartments would have been much better, at least for me.
It doesn't. It's just because she's looking at very modern and central/touristy areas. You can get apartments for a lot less. I live in a neighbourhood that is 15 minutes out of the touristy area, by the beach and I pay €350 a month.
@@elenaaq996 what she was looking at was one bedroom apartments in the centre/touristy areas for €1000+. If she looks further out she could get 4 bedroom flat for €800 (that's what I live in). So my statement about it being expensive because it's so central and modern is correct.
May I please some feedback? Try to hold your camera a little steadier and not whip it around when you pan. I had to keep pausing the video because it was giving me motion sickness. Pick a focal point, stay on it for at least a full breath before moving smoothly and steadily to the next focal point. Avoiding panning while you are walking.
Same thing I was thinking but sometimes when you are studying and juggling school, work & roommates regardless if it's a love relationship, it can be very hectic and slow you down
