This is the second time in my life that I’ve been fully plant based. I came back to it from being a lacto/ovo pescatarian. I started a month ago on my 52nd birthday. I went from beginning to have lots of odd health issues to feeling like a new person. I’ve also lost ten lbs in a month, while staying full and maintaining great energy.

My friend's husband just got diagnosed with colon cancer. Apparently one of the causes is eating a high fat diet, meat and processed meat. I'm astonished when I see the numerous YT cooking channels promoting unhealthy high fat fried meats, high sugar and high salt foods and some being presented by proclaimed nutritionists.

My sister's friend, almost 10 years in throat cancer remission, was living a fairly healthy life with his wife. They're runners, and active outdoorsy, hiking biking etc.
He started keto full force last year and within about 10 weeks had a stroke.
One side of his body is partially paralyzed, He can't walk or talk, or chew.
But, so he can continue eating healthy keto, his wife runs his steaks through the blender and spoon feeds them to him.
The wife was 25 years vegetarian, until her iron deficiency. Dr. said start eating steaks.... and so she does, and lots of them.

There is a difference between inulin and other prebiotics. Inulin is not food for pathogenic microflora, they doesn’t consume it, compared to other soluble fiber which is nutritious for both bacterias, good and bad. So for those whose microflora is shifted towards pathogenic - inulin is a pure benefit.

Once again an interview is full of useful info and tips. I have noted a number of trolls lurking around this site, trying to pull down the plant based diet options. It's strange how some people take it so personally when another person chooses a different diet - they react as if they've been insulted. The irony is that so much of the stuff they spew is literally an insult to intelligence. These people are not interested in educating themselves, let alone others - they just want to throw their BS into the conversation in order to feel important, and to justify their own unhealthy diet choices.

I had Major issues of bloating - as a meat eater and plant based.
      I highly recommend:

#2 STOP drinking 30 Minutes before a meal
#3 WAIT to drink, until 1 hour after a meal

I weaned myself off sugar by replacing it with a zero-calorie sweetener, Stevia, along with not keeping processed sweet foods in my home. I don't even crave bread anymore and no longer use Stevia.
When I have a high fiber diet, I rarely need between-meal snacks and dessert for me is fresh whole fruit. I find eating sour or bitter vegetables/fruits also curbs the desire for sweet foods. Sadly, sugar is like an addictive substance that keeps a person on the insulin rollercoaster.

I remember a staunch anti-vegan engineer named Barry Groves wrote about how whole grain fiber scratches your colon and causes cancer and attributes his own colon cancer to having consumed whole grain bread for 5 years of his life.
This made me scared of consuming insoluble fiber, especially when a university professor also said that fiber makes you regular by scraping the wall of your colon to produce mucus so that your stool can slide out easier.
What does Dr. B think about this? I do not want to risk developing colon cancer since I have a family history of it.

True keto is *_not_* a high meat diet! _On _*_real_*_ keto, high meat and unhealthy fats are discouraged!_ True keto is a low net carb, moderate protein, high healthy fat diet. Plant foods are encouraged, but those plants should be low carb plants. A reason why high protein is discouraged on _true_ keto is because gluconeogenesis turns excess protein (amino acids) into glucose (sugar/carbs). And in keto does not encourage _wild_ oil consumption. Calories and % of calories matter. Also, pure keto does not encourage dairy products. And true keto certainly does not encourage only animal products. I find that this physician either doesn't understand that a pure keto diet is, and/or that what he said here can be misleading.

I adore Dr. B and have followed him for a long while now. Fiber Fueled is EXCELLENT but I don’t fully understand his stance on coconut. While I agree the oil is not a great choice, the whole coconut has been an important food source for indigenous people in the tropics for thousands of years without everyone dropping dead from heart disease or dysbiosis. I grew up on an island in the middle of the pacific, in Hawaii. My nephew is from the Philippines and my family has spent a lot of time in Guam. God or nature, whatever you prefer to call the creator of the coconut palm, does not make a mistake! Coconut is natural and exists in a warm climate for a purpose. The fats in coconut are stable in heat, resisting rancidity. Lauric acid found in coconut is anti fungal (which is important in humid climates) and is why you find coconut derivatives in anti-fungal medicinal preparations. Perhaps at some point more studies will be available (if they are not already) showing the benefit of whole coconut, in particular to those people who come from and live in the tropics where the palms grow. I know Dr. B is not saying NOT to eat coconut and that the whole plant is better than the oil, but it still feels like a bit of a warning that I find a bit perplexing.

God/Nature, the creator, also created poisonous mushrooms and other plants and berries that are deadly to humans.
      I wouldn't call those 'mistakes'.
People eat meat, and it's not healthy for us - doesn't mean cows/pigs/chickens/deer (and dogs and bats) are mistakes.
People have been eating meat since the stone ages - as long or longer than they have been eating coconuts. Doesn't automatically make either healthy.

Good hair growth relies, among other things, on good Vitamin D levels. Regardless of the source of vitamin D ( Food, sunshine, supplements) the kidneys has to convert it into a form the body can use. If you eat a lot of fat or are Insulin Resistant or Type 2 Diabetic ( caused by eating high fat), not only will the kidneys struggle to function properly but all the fat that the body is now storing in the muscle cells stops just about everything working properly - even hair follicles which will not get adequate oxygen and nutrition.
Here's the brilliant thing - slash fat intake and, after a very short while of doing so, the kidneys start working better and Vitamin D levels ( can be measured by blood test before and after) will raise naturally without any supplements being taken. And you will notice this even without blood tests being taken, because hair will, miraculously, start growing better and hair shedding reduce/stop.
