Go with the one calls the more to you. I first went with a Pulsar 200 NS, and now I own two very different ones. A Royal Enfield Classic 350 stormrider sand a Ninja 400 KRT. @@akashdeepsingh7601 I like the bike. But it has a few drawbacks. Maintenance is very expensive. First service is super expensive if you go to the dealership. I suggest finding a local owned shop that is ktm certified. I got mine for $120. Dealership wanted $600 and said valves needed adjusted. This was without hearing or looking at the bike at all. Manual says they don’t need adjusted until 4000 miles (somewhere around there. But certainly not 600 miles. It’s a great machine to ride though.

I have a ninja 400, also what’s not available in USA the Yamaha R15. Although there’s a huge difference in power I tend to ride both the same. The new R15 just has so many more features. What I like about it over the ninja is the comfortable seat, digital display with Bluetooth, up quick shifter, thinner profile for lane splitting, and light weight. It’s hilarious to ride and very engaging. I personally would never own a KTM… they are ticking time bombs. I did purchase a 390 adventure 3 years ago and looked at the forum for tips etc, the amount of issues I witnessed made me sell it with only 200 miles on it. It made me scared to ride it and be stranded somewhere so I had to sell it before things started to go wrong.

That's a wonderful choice, I believe the 2018 RC 390's were raw in power compared to newer one's, just that in the newer one's they increased the tank size and reduced the weight of the whole bike to match the old one, gave bigger air box to make it more refined, looks like it even has a bigger radiator.
Still I'd vote for the old one because it's got some cool sharp looks and feels raw.

So, what I'm hearing here is the Ninja 400 is the best option, especially at MSRP, but the RC390 and Ninja 400 are both great, and if you fit well on both of them the best option is whichever is cheaper/you like the best in terms of ergonomics, the way they look, or vibe they give off, (the way it looks is generally the reason I see people choosing the R3, but that one seems like the worst deal out of these options to me)

Hey Yammie, I see a lot of motovlogers always talking about beginners bike(I mean obviously it's a recurring question throughout the community). But I'm always curious about length of time you think is adequate enough to properly learn. I have currently a Yamaha R3, and I absolutely love it(never dropped it either, knock on wood). But I live (unfortunately) right now where I get all 4 seasons, so I can only ride a certain amount of time throughout the year. I've started my 2nd season(as a first time rider) on this bike, and I feel extremely comfortable. Throttle control, upshifting, downshifting, leaning and just over control of the bike so much so that I have friend with GSXR 650s, and another with a 636 that are shocked I'm able to keep up with them. I love my motorcycle. I also understand my motorcycle very well, as throughout the winter I pretty much took apart the entirety of the bike and put it back together with better parts. So my actual question, is one season (approximately 7 months and change) enough you think that it is time for me to upgrade?
Also, I would love other people who see this comment(specifically people with lots of riding experience) to aid me with their input as well.

Prices in New Zealand: Just to give perspective of also why it's hard to get into a 600cc here in NZ...
      YZF-R3 - $8,799 NZD
      Ninja 400 - $9,995 NZD (KRT Edition $10,995)
      KTM RC390 - $8,749 NZD
      To move to a ZX6R - $24,495 NZD + ONC
      USED 600cc - R6 old model - $10,500 - $12,000 NEW MODEL - $17,000 NZD
I can also keep up with friends on the street with bigger bikes.
I've been on my R3 for 2 years now and ride it 6 days a week as it is my only mode of transport. I've been riding on the road for 6 years now and previously dirt bikes when I was younger but not so much now.
      ADVANCED COURSES/TRACK DAYS:
I have also got a few track days under my belt with the R3 and have done the Bronze and Silver Advanced rider courses (sill haven't done the Gold yet) I also low sided once (found the limit of the stock tires). Trust me... get to the track and you'll find you'll get humbled pretty quickly by other people on R3's and Ninja 400's who are dedicated track riders.
There is a lot more to learn than you think. I have ridden an 2007 R6 a few times now and that is scary going from the R3, I can confidently say I'm not ready for that bike yet. Although I can ride it just fine and lean and all that at below 12,000 RPM, it's the power that catches you off guard above that mark.
I still haven't reached the 16,000 RPM Red Line on that thing yet because it honestly scares me a little on the street.
(New Zealand doesn't have Highways/Motorways like the rest of the world) the roads are narrow and bumpy with hills and winding roads in bad condition and our Highway Speed Limit is 100 Km/h throughout the entire Country.
In first gear on a 600cc ZX6R/R6 you're already breaking the law in 1st gear. At more than 40 km/h above the speed limit you could also get a 28-day license suspension + $600 fine.
      MODS:
I have recently done a few cheap mods to my R3 and it's made it a completely different bike to ride. I'd recommend also doing these mods and learn more. Better Tires! I have replaced the stock tires with Hyper-sport S22's and they made a massive difference in corner speed and overall grip, rear-sets, I took off the little "Lean indicator" stalks under the foot pegs to get more lean with the new tires I have way more grip at higher lean angles and was scraping those.. quite often would put me off my line through the corner, get the R6 Throttle tube and install that (your YAMAHA Dealership will have them in stock), for less than $50 it's by far the best mod you can do to get better throttle response! Do these mods first and see how you feel on the bike after that, especially on track.
If you want a little more response and smoothness through the rev range install a high flow air filter like the K&N a good edition to go with the R6 Throttle tube Mod.
      TIRE'S:
      R6 THROTTLE TUBE / K&N AIR FILTER:
      REMOVE LEAN INDICATOR STALKS:
LEARN TO ADJUST SUSPENSION & TYRE PRESSURES:
      CONCLUSION:
Get some track days under your belt first or take some courses for advance riding techniques, learn how to adjust your suspension and tire pressures (experiment with them). Give it a year or more with track days and advanced rider courses and then I think you'll make a better more informed decision on whether you are ready for the next step up and in doing so will give you more time to save for that next bike.
      Hope this helps!

As I don't have that much experience I wanted to go for something easier. I'm thinking between Duke390, Honda CB300R and Yamaha MT-03. As what I've seen are the 3 acceptable bikes I'm kind of choosing by appearance and for me I love the Honda. There's not really a bad choice between those three, there's just advantages to each. The Honda is a little lower on power compared to the other two, but that shouldn't be an issue for a new rider, and it's arguably the best of the three for style.

Honestly, even as a non-beginner I love my ninja 400 to death. Sure, I could get a faster bike but then I can't use any of its power without losing my license. The ninja 400 I can have so much fun with and stay somewhat legal... In City driving, it is plenty powerful enough to get you to ludicrous speeds... And it's powerful enough to ride on the highway and still get pretty fast. But compared to a real sport bike, you're not going to lose your license as soon as you turn your throttle handle...
