    Thanks for the information about having to use zippo fluid. I also tried eucalyptus oil with no luck. Basically, no kerosene "substitute" I have tried to use worked.

      I tried kerosene, and it worked twice (with a dozen strikes between each) and then it just quit working altogether. Not even a spark.

    Awesome video Doc! Good format and cool music. Admittedly the music was a bit loud at times but I’m sure you’ll figure it out for future videos. Leave it to you to show us products that we never knew we need. Keep up the great work!

    Cool little DIY kit. A leather sheath would definatly fit well with this one. Thanks for the look see Doc.

    I saw an ad for this on Facebook yesterday and thought it looked kind of cool so I decided to look to UA-cam for reviews on these to see if they functioned at all. there were little to no useful videos on UA-cam.
    And now this video drops today... synchronicity in action

    The flint is super easy, it pulls up and serves as a stand alone styler with a standard screw in the bottom

    During the commentary the music was a bit loud and distracting. Overall I liked the video. It's cool to see you try new types of videos and content. :)

      Thanks for the feedback about the music, and you aren't the only one to have that exact reaction. If I try it again with that format I'll work with the sliders to try and keep the music at a lower level and keep the voice over a bit louder. Thanks!

    What are people doing wrong where they say it leaks or goes on fire?

    • @erxguy
      @erxguy 6 місяців тому

      Yep, totally does.. the burner tube is super long, the air heats up, expands and drives fluid up and out the wick at a pretty good rate till the pressure inside equalizes

    I have 1 unit of this lighter. I want to replace the wick with a zippo, but it doesn't fit and I can't. As a result it can't be used anymore. How do you install the wick and what type of wick do you use? maybe you can help me. please...

      I really don'y know. I haven't use it in a while. I gave it to someone and they haven't told me it needed any Maintenace, so I'm not sure.

      Use cotton and a pen spring if thats too thick use a paper clip

    • @erxguy
      @erxguy 6 місяців тому

      Remove the burner tube with a pair of small vise grips, but be sure to protect the brass from the jaws… holy lock tite it’s on there.. with an o-ring.. once removed wick replacement is simple

    • @arkhamkillzone
      @arkhamkillzone 6 місяців тому

      @@erxguy yes but the point is there is no wick available for there and it would have to be bought as a added item. Just adding to all the other clutter of useless things we have lying around the house.

      So you want a muted high speed video with nothing? Noted.
      This music was written and performed for me as a gift to the channel, to use in videos for when I do time-lapse clips without intrinsic audio. So if you don't like the hard work of others, I will be anxiously awaiting your own original music composition that everyone can hear and judge in the very next video posted! Feel free to email it to the email address in the video description. Can't wait to hear your talent!!!

      @@DocP91B The first guy actually provided a problem and a solution; it's constructive criticism. Ironically, the second guy you thanked, did not. The problem was that the song was annoying, and the solution was to lose the background music. Granted, you didn't like the solution he suggested, and the problem was vague, but it was still respectful constructive criticism by your own metric. Also the autofocus is bad during this video. So you don't feel attacked, I'll provide a solution as well. You can try selecting the area you want to focus on in the viewfinder to fix the problem.

      Dye to add to the naphtha (petroleum based lighter fuel) just a little is needed to change the clear colour to blue 👍

    I not sure why we'd take advice from someone who thought you could run a lighter with lamp oil...
    no duh? just Google the ignition temperature of the substance! there is a reason Zippo refills contain white gas, because it has an extremely low flashpoint which you can achieve with the spark off a flint. Lamp Oil want light with a spark. This makes it far more stable, but you need an intermediate to ignite it.

      I bought what was recommended by the company that made the lighter. So your longwinded beef is with them.

      I used kerosene too, because that's what it says to use on Amazon... But whoever wrote that is wrong for sure.
