  • Many people don't understand that Type 2 Diabetes changes how you need to fuel your body and how your body can process that fuel. I work with a specialist to help me fuel my body properly.
I immediately went home and ordered myself a crank brother's tool like the one I borrowed. Get one here: amzn.to/4f8X7rn Yes that is an affiliate link, Rich Uncle Jeffy tosses me a few coins if you buy via this link, it's not much, but it doesn't change your price.
I bought a 3rd pair of Antora 2s. They fit me so well and feel really good.
This is a referral code- you get $20 off and I get $20 off. Anyone can get this code from Merrell, they offer it to anyone who orders from their website. refer.merrell....

Thank you for this. I am a type 2 diabetic. Got diagnosed 5,5 years ago but was pre-diabetic for several years. I started to work-out and paid more attention to my diet. I am a vegan so that's my approach. Some people were surprised I got diabetes even though I was a vegan (especially people in the Gym). Quite annoying actually to explain over and over again that it is very possible to eat crappy food as a vegan. I still can manage my illness without any medication wich makes me happy. I totally agree with what your are saying about diabetes is a cronic illness and you have to manage it your whole live. I recently started biking outside more and I really enjoy it. I am happy I found your channel. Watching and listening to your vlogs motivates me. So thank you! Greetings from The Netherlands, Hannah (sorry if my English is not very good)

Thank you! It's wonderful to know that this is helpful. :)
I was vegetarian for many years, I ate a TON of crap. A lot of junk food is vegan and or vegetarian and it's REALLY tasty too!
I managed mine with diet and exercise for many years until I got stressed out and went back to working too much. There is a possibility I could get off this one med and just do diet and exercise again. For now I take the help.
Congrats on all of your hard work getting healthier!
      Your English is perfect.

@LessISMoreHealthy Yes, stress is bad... I have had a stressful year and my diabetes got worse. Now I am more relaxed again, and my glucose levels improved.

I enjoy your videos and have been thinking about how I’d respond to “That’s how the pros do it.” I think I’d just laugh! I ride a 41 year-old rebuilt bike, do long, slow rides, and try to stay healthy. Just happy I can still do it at 65.

Funny, in a lot of cases not even the pros should be doing it how the pros do it. Even through it's of limited value to me personally, given I'm not remotely a pro, is Dylan Johnson's cycling channel. His channel is strictly science based, his race recaps are amongst the best and Backward Hat Dylan is hilarious. I haven't got type 2 diabetes but I'm in much the same situation. I have to exercise to maintain mobility and my general health. I suffer from something somewhat similar to chronic Fatigue Syndrome, except I don't get any obvious signs that I've done to much, the tells that I am reaching the point of being dangerously exhausted, are subtle and easy to miss. If I'm inattentive or careless and overdo it I crash and get seriously ill. those bouts of illness generally last a week or three, but have lasted two or three months. But over the last three years things have improved dramatically, from being bed ridden, and where dressing was exhausting, to now being able to walk a kilometer in one go, or ride and ebike 6 km on assistance level 1. At the moment I couldn't do the later every day, but working toward that. With rests, I can walk or ride triple those amounts in one go, but then I have to play at being a vegetable for three for four days to recover and I hate that. Generally I can exert myself for 20, or if I'm careful 30 minutes, then if I rest I can do it again. If I do it to often in one day or over several days, I crash and get ill. They think it's heart related, I definitely get arrhythmia, they only found that out when I collapsed in hospital. But they suspect the arrhythmia is a symtom of something else. it's all very aggravating, but things are slowly getting better and the ebike is keeping me sane 🙂
As for well meaning advice, it asked I tell everybody that I have Hemochromatosis, which I do have. Occasionally they tell me about a family member who has it. But mostly their eyes glaze over and they shut up. Medially speaking for me, it just adds to the confusion and I don't talk about what my real issues are except to medical professionals. It's to confusing, and nothing they could say would be useful.

I'll have to check out that channel, sounds pretty awesome. I hope the DRs and you figure out everything. I think it's hard when you don't know everything and there is relief in knowing things FOR SURE.
I think one of the biggest misunderstandings about Type 2 and BG swings is that you just bounce right back. I've found that if I crash then I don't feel great for hours. If I go overboard and spike then I can not feel great for hours. If I do a wild seesaw of ups and downs then I feel bad for a day.
I've learned, like you, to pay attention to subtle cues about how I'm feeling. I can often guess where my sugars are based off how my body feels. It's taken a lot of practice to get to that point though. And sometimes I get down and just want to have a normal body. But I don't.
I think eBikes are a great invention for people who are getting fit again and also for getting groceries and various other tasks. It just makes things better. I'm glad you are finding better mobility with yours.
