Welcome to the Midwest weather scene ! You went right through what we called “ tornado alley”. You get bad storms, hail, lots of lightening, heavy rain and tornadoes. I lived in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and the Texas panhandle right in tornado alley. More specifically Amarillo on Route 66. There is a restaurant in Amarillo where if you eat a large sirloin steak and the “fixings” in an hour it is free. Never tried it myself. They also sport a place where 6 or 8 Cadillacs are buried in the ground with only the back half of the cars are showing above ground. Odd I know. If you are going on to Albuquerque, you will come out of the sandria mountains straight into the desert. You will find lots of old Spanish missions there made out of adobe mud. Looks like you are having a wonderful trip and making lots of memories. You are doing this trip with the same idea I had doing my trip to England. (Bath. The Cotswolds, Oxford, Stratford on the Avon, and of course London and Windsor Castle. Have a safe trip !! Love, love, love your vlogs !!
You must love storms to live in all of those places! 😂 Joking aside what a beautiful part of the country! Yes the big Texan in Amarillo! We stopped there and seen the steak, We had the ribs and a 24oz rib eye which were so good. We’re a little ahead so have already gone through Albuquerque it was like an oasis coming through the mountains! Santa Fe was cool too! Ah wow yes we live in a lovely part of England the Cotswolds are stunning, we’re about an hour drive away. Thank you for showing up for us! 🙂
Wow you were brave. I would have been on backseat with blanket over my head. Hate it when it rains so hard you can’t see where your going. The storm was horrendous. Have great week and stay safe.
Dani, Joe, FANTASTIC, FANTASTIC, FANTASTIC video. You guys are so amazing. It was just like traveling thru a film set. I loved every minute of this journey. Have a great week. Take care.
Thank you for these lovely Route 66 videos. They remind me of many years ago, my father was a meteorologist who was transferred from St Louis Missouri to Anaheim California. As a family of parents and 4 kids, we drove Route 66, all jammed into an old Chevy station wagon. Also, thank you very much for showing this side of America. It is so easy, and common, for focus to be on the terrible and tragic. But America is complicated and the generosity and joy of many is often overshadowed by the insane and tragic. Thank you.
Two years ago we went over what we think was a one lane bridge at Louisiana Missouri in an RV. Last year the old bridge was gone and the new one was all concrete. The old one scared the heck out of me as I was expecting a truck to get to the bridge before we got off. We did but it was close.
What a fantastic time you are having! Wow!! Thank you for taking us along for the ride. Already excitedly impatient for the next instalment as you journey along Route 66!
If you find that you are spending to much money on rooms you might think about upgrading your jeep for a mini van or something with a little more leg room.. Then you have a place to sleep as well as drive. Two for the price of one. Something to ponder. Two or three good blankets from a second hand shop and your set. Truck stops have HOT Showers and FOOD and big parking lots. CCHHEERRSSSSS
Yeah looking back we wish we’d considered this but virtually at the end of that road trip now, motels have gone up a lot since we booked this originally in 2020 (anywhere from £35 originally to £65 now for the cheapest of cheap)
Hi Danni and Joe, wow that storm was scary. It looked like lightning struck right beside the car.🫣 After you ate the corn dog then the french fry gravy dish, all I could think was you needed a piece of fruit. As always enjoyed seeing your adventures and excited to see what you get up to next week. Thank you for sharing.
Just fabulous watching your travels... Apart from the weather warning... I lived in Australia for 15 years cyclones terrifying... Glad you both were safe... Danni you make me smile thank you for sharing.. Stay safe guys x
Hey guys great vlog. May want to check out rental cabins at campgrounds - they may be an more economical option. KOA Campground non deluxe cabins are typically less than what the room rates were in Tulsa. Just a suggestion and hope it helps
When Dad was in US Navy in 1960s, 70s, we encountered a lot of those bridges with that metal grid decking; they have a very distinct sound, and, yes, even as a child in the back seat it felt like the car could swap ends at any instant!
Hi Danny Joe,Hope you both are enjoying yourself ,what a Crack in road (concrete road ) ,that is a beautiful old iron bridge you was on ,well it sure is raining heavy I would love to get close to a tornado 🌪 must be exciting to see what it really dose I like watching the storm chancers what would happen if the hail damage your car who responsible is it ? The them old classic cars so beautiful to look at ,Jo what is the speed limit is it 60 MPH ? ,that looked fun but was it closed the like water park you sitting on top of the whale 🐳,so what did you think of the drag racing was there any proper drag car there I love watching them the speed they get to is unbelievable, wait the end of this very interesting and exciting blog most enjoyable, till next time take care keep yourself safe and Joe drive careful no more lampposts lol 😂 ,John 🐳😂🌪🌪🌹💕👀👀🤩👍🇺🇸🙏🤣🤓🤓
Thanks John! Joe always used to watch storm chasing it’s a bit scarier in real life though 😂 not sure on how the insurance would work it’s a bit different here you need to pay a lot more for the cover we get in the UK. Speed limit wise varies so much from 45 on roads that you would be allowed to do 60 on in the UK to 75 on interstates. Drag racing was good there was one drag car but it only did one run!
We are fine bless you, we have been posting on our community page on UA-cam with updates. We have struggled to keep on top of it whilst being present. We are home next week for more boat updates 😊
Why didn’t you hire an RV and drive across country in that, would of saved a fortune in accommodation, and seen some out of the way places, fuel cheap so even if its doing 15 to to the gallon its probably cheaper than $200 a night etc…
Yeah it’s one of Danni’s ‘filler’ words, we’re still a little awkward at speaking on camera so it’s a bit of a nervous thing, hopefully we’ll get out of it!
Curry ketchup on corn dogs! L Weather sign up App Radar Omega. Also hail warnings find neatest self serve car wash to park in one of cover stalls for protection from hail. You are traveling through Tornado Alley states region! Broken Arrow stay over cheaper than Tulsa, just saying! Best travels, safely with radar updates??🍻🌬️🪨🌧️🌩️🌪️🌄
Oooh we love curry wurst in Germany so that makes sense! We ended up in broken arrow but still £370 for two nights at a motel that’s usually £65 per night!
Alot of travelling, but alot of fun ,keep enjoying yourself, 😁👍
Thank you!!
Tornado Alley is no joke. I'm glad you guys were safe! Oh, and Corndogs are normally served with a side of Ketchup and mustard 😋
Nice one guys. Those thunderstorms were pretty big.
So fun seeing the country thru your eyes. Hopefully we will some day see your country. Oregon USA.
Let us know if you make it over! We’re about the same size as Oregon! 😂😂

Welcome to the Midwest, where our storms try to kill us 😅 Glad you also got to see our sketchy old bridges 😂
We questioned why anyone would put themselves through so many storms and tornados but what a beautiful part of the world!
I grew up in Virden, Illinois. It was a great town to live in during the 60's.
Ahh lovely we came right through there on the older alignment of the 66!
Wow you were brave. I would have been on backseat with blanket over my head. Hate it when it rains so hard you can’t see where your going. The storm was horrendous. Have great week and stay safe.
Made us feel alive! 😂😫

Yes those one lane bridges are scary! There’s a couple left on the backroads!

Con crest light house are water. Intake towers for drinking water treatment plants

Sometimes dreams comes thru. The trip you are making was one of my earlier dreams. Nice to do it this way since I couldn't do it myself!
Ahh that’s a shame! We’ll make sure we make the most of it as it’s definitely a once in a life time journey for us!
Wow looks like you are having an amazing time 😊
You have to put mustard on the corn dog
I love Route 66. Hope you enjoy it
loved it thanks for sharing :) 👍
Thanks for joining us!
If a corn dog isn't at least some degree of greasy it isn't a corn dog. ;D
When Dad was in US Navy in 1960s, 70s, we encountered a lot of those bridges with that metal grid decking; they have a very distinct sound, and, yes, even as a child in the back seat it felt like the car could swap ends at any instant!
Where are you now?
We are in Hawaii!
Don't forget Tulsa is the the home of the great JJ Cale...

Are you back on home turf now or still in the usa
Flying back today!
How many times can you say Like in one video !!
Danni’s awkward filler word unfortunately, I did read this though www.google.com/amp/s/time.com/5592953/use-like-too-much/%3Famp%3Dtrue 😂
Did you two get lost in the USA?
Back aboard our boat, video up Sunday!
No mustard or ketchup on your corn dog?
Didn’t know that was a thing! Will try it if we grab another one!
Would love to see the new Tesla P100D with a 0-60 of 1 sec go down the track and see how it compares to the muscle cars lol
If your not vegetarians then you have to order steaks when your in the Midwest. And the sweet corn in Illinois is the best in the world
Congratulations for getting married am I still getting the cup??

Thanks Jon!
Barbequed beef? You don't see thunder, you hear thunder and see lightening, sorry to be pernickety.
Yes that’ll be Danni’s dyslexia, we knew what she meant anyway 😂
When you watch the video count the amount of times danni says the word LIKE!!! Very frustrating as I do enjoy the videos. Sorry guys.
Yeah it’s one of Danni’s ‘filler’ words, we’re still a little awkward at speaking on camera so it’s a bit of a nervous thing, hopefully we’ll get out of it!
