- Visiting a bison sanctuary in Ohio then on to Everybody's Treehouse in Cincinnati. From there I drive through the night into Casey Illinois to check out the worlds largest rocking chair and worlds largest mailbox. Actually there are lots of worlds largest things to see in Casey! From there its up to Springfield, where President Lincoln is buried. Did you know his body was almost stolen by grave robbers?

There is actually evidence that Lincoln may have staged his death. He may have died in 1876. Lincoln had Malfans syndrome and cancer, and didn't want to be reelected. However the radical republicans wanted Lincoln to be reelected so that Johnson could be president. There are a lot of problems with Lincoln's assassination. 1) he was assassinated in a theater where there is a ready made audience and ready made witnesses 2) nobody actually saw the assassination. They were told that John Wilkes Booth shot Lincoln, but there is actually no proof of it. 3) John Wilkes Booth was not a rabid Confederate sympathizer. He was from New York, and only went into the south when he was performing in a theater down there. Book was also engaged to the daughter of a New Hampshire senator. Even though Booth was at the hanging of John Brown in 1859 as a member of the Virginia greys, the next day he left that military unit and went back to New York. If he was a member of the Confederate military, they wouldn't have just let him get out of a military unit the very next day. 3) Lincoln was supposedly shot with a 44 caliber derringer, but there was no exit wound. There was no death mask made of Lincoln. All there is are two live masks. One made in 1860 and another in February 1865. Lincoln inherited property in Huntsville Alabama, and that is where he probably lived the rest of his life after he staged his assassination. The reason that his coffin was moved around so many times is probably in order to keep people from knowing that the coffin was empty. Now Lincoln could be in the coffin. It is interesting that when I went to Lincolns tomb about 15 years ago, the coffin was wooden. It wasn't until years later that his coffin was sunk into the ground.
Actually there is proof that Lincoln staged his own death. Lincoln had Malfren syndrome and he was dying of cancer. That is why he didn't want to be reelected. Lincoln staged his death so that he can acquire his inheritance in Huntsville Alabama.
Before being finally buried, Lincoln's son had the casket opened to be sure his body was there. Then it was reburied, in the Monument, with rebar and tons of cement, to be sure his body could never be stolen or desecrated.
His body was positively identified by a cemetery employee before the remains were reburied. There had been many threats to steal the body and hold it hostage. My father performed the funeral service for the employee who identified the body many years later in Springfield, IL. (in the early '40s.)
@@kathrynnewhall5687 The young son of the man who re-welded the copper shield that held the coffin, lived to be the last person who saw Lincoln alive. When the father was requested to come to the cemetary, with his tools,he realized what was going to happen. He stopped by the school to take his young son with him!

Some years after Lincoln's remains were placed in the basement of the tomb. Robert Lincoln received word that another plot was afoot to steal his father's remains, so he summoned a plumber, and some of his father's friends, and associates, to the tomb they went to the basement, where they found the lead casket, containing the remains, on a crude wooden platform, the plumber opened the lead casket, and removed the wooden original casket, the wooden casket was opened and the presidents remains were found to be in a remarkable state of preservation, having a large bruise on the forehead, where the bullet that killed him had come to rest, ( for some reason it had never been removed) however the wooden casket was found to be decaying, another casket was sent for, and while they waited, the plumber summoned his young son, who would become the last surviving person to see Abraham Lincoln's face, he died in 1924 the presidents remains were placed in the new coffin, which was returned to the lead casket, which the plumber soldered shut, the lead casket was then wrapped in a cage of steel bars and placed in a wooden crate that was then filled with cement, after the cement had set, the entrance to the basement was sealed, and the presidents remains have been undisturbed since, However they may have to be temporarily moved in the future since the monument has some structural issues with the foundation that require repairs.

Looks cool. I built a tree house for my son and friends back in the 70s and now he is 56 yo and he and his friends still talk about how much fun they had in it.

Wow! I have lived in the greater Cincinnati area for 12 years, and I had no idea the treehouse was a thing! I also love that it's wheelchair accessible since I'm temporarily in a wheelchair and learning that places marked as "accessible" are often... not really very accessible. Can't wait to go check it out, thanks!
In Maryland we have haunted lighthouses- esp. the one at the tip of Maryland. If you go on the Web sight you can see cool stuff & hear great EVPs. Also in Fort Deposit is an over 200 yr old INN. There is a Victorian Inn in Havre DE Grace where I got my 1860s dresser. What a BEAUITFUL place & the food is great too.
When I got my dresser home I put my hands on it & stated,"Oh, I love you- You're such a cool dresser." And I sware to God the dresser moved abit on its own. I have cool weird pics 1 of an orb coming out of it & weird faces/& stuff you can see in the mirror some times. But only if you take a picture it sometimes comes out- don't know why. (But cool!)

I live in southwest Ohio and there is a bison farm right down the street from me, there's also lots of other farms, especially corn

There used to be a large buffalo herd at a local farm here in west Michigan. We used to take the school kids on field trips. It's just an empty farm now. Bummer. Nice video! Weird stuff! Lol! Lincoln's my 6th cousin, on my mom's side. Oh, I'm also related to Laura Ingalls Wilder. Some of the Ingalls family live in my county.

When I went to Springfield I didn't know that the original tomb was behind the new tomb so we didn't visit it. Next time we go we will visit it.

I think they moved Lincoln's body 3-4 times even after leaving the temporary tomb to thwart grave robbers. Rumor is that it's not under the alter they say it's under, but off in some unassuming corner.

Caprock Canyon State Park in Texas is one of the first Bison sanctuaries. Created in the 1800’s. The descendants of the original Bison are still there is large numbers. You can camp there while Bison roam through your campsite.

I read about a kid who got to look into Lincoln's coffin fifty years after the assassination. Lincoln was being moved and they wanted to be sure it wasn't an empty coffin. Lincoln looked the same save for some mildew on his coat

If Abraham Lincoln is your idol, what is the problem with getting to Springfield? It is worth it. They didn't just preserve his house, they preserved his entire street. His law office is preserved. The Old State Capitol is preserved. The path he walked from New Salem to go to school is preserved. New Salem is preserved. The entire town of New Salem. Springfield is kind of crazy about Abe. You would like it. Maybe wait till the stupid virus is over.

The treehouse got me. I'd clime to world's largest rocking chair and sit on it. I don't know if you allowed but would be worth to try. If someone lock the cage door behind you it turns into prison.

I used to collect Bibles & would get them mostly at thrift stores & 1 day I bought a rather large very old Bible & it had a letter in it by Abe Lincoln! The Bible is a big thick one.
I'd like to hold onto to it awhile-only found it a short time ago. If I'm hard up for money -maybe auction it off or give to Lincoln museum in Washinton - Don't know yet.
When I was a kid my parents brought me to where an actor was portraying Lincoln -I was really young but knew it wasn't the 'real' Mr . Lincoln- but the actor stayed in cariture & he told me stories while I sat on his lap & I've never forgotten him.
For an amount of time, Lincoln was buried behind what is now the monument in an unmarked grave. I've been there before but a long time ago. Then I've been to the Lincoln home in Springfield. All very interesting.

The sad thing about Bison is that Bison meat is now being sold in grocery stores. I suppose they are being bred in sufficient numbers to allow that, but since regulatory agencies are kind of a joke now, who knows? I guess the lucky ones get to live in a sanctuary like these few in the video.
When you come back to Indiana, you need to search The West Baden Hotel. It's located in French Lick, Indiana. Also the home town of Larry Bird!!!

Wish you would have checked in "New Salem" where Abe lived before becoming a lawyer. It is a completely recreated town set on the exact spot of the original complete with all the log cabins and the ones he lived in, where he met his first love, and her resting place (Ann Rutledge) and essentially where he got his start and the people who backed him. Big history on that site in the same woods where he walked and lived. In downtown Springfield, is the starting spot of the Donner Party...who started on a fateful trip out west.

You should head to Southern Illinois there's loads of old abandoned stuff like an elevator and bin for coal loading, an old rail tunnel ans trestles, an iron furnace, in addition to the spectacular Shawnee National Forest and legendary Cave in Rock where pirates and America's first serial killers once operated!

AT-11:40- Also before Abe was killed his friend let Abe's son's remains to be in this valt also. Abe would visit the valt offense because of being so heart broken. Many a tear was shed there. Very sad to lose your children.

Watched this video 2-3 years ago & came back after watching the video you did with Lamont at Large following the path that John Wilkes Booth took after assassinating President Lincoln. Question, Lincoln was born in Kentucky, you can visit his boyhood home there, but was he not also buried there for awhile? Love both Lamont & your channels. Am a subscriber of both for quite some time now.
In 1984 a guy stole Lincoln’s body it is sed the guy took it to Germany so his body might not be there
