I was lucky to get invited into a cab of an SD70mac north of Alliance during my first visit to this area and the conductor said they really didn’t want GE’s on their trains as the EMD’s were better suited to that type of work. That was before 9/11 so unlikely to happen again. I’m glad you liked the area and whilst Nebraska has a reputation for being just flat land this place changes that! @@qzepher That's pretty cool. The tunnel is there, but the trains don't go through it as you will be able to see when I get my drone video done. How long did you work for the BN?
@@Atsf1976 I transferred to the Chicago Division in April 76 as an engineer, worked Clyde Yard switch engines, Cicero to lacrosse Wisconsin through freight, suburban trains Aurora to Chicago. 30 years with BN 5 years starting early 70’s split between CRI&P and the EJ&E.

So different than when I worked there in 76!
Were you maintenance of way or train and engine? What was different?
@@Atsf1976 I was in the engineer training program. We went through the tunnel. I was there 75/76 timeframe.
