His color is so brilliant in the brothels painting 37:17 . The color is so exceptional, you can almost feel the softness of the couch. The color of the dress on the lady bending her leg is brilliant.
@ferociousgumby this series has its moments, but it is an older doc. I know Perspective only posted the first half of Waldemar's doc on Toulouse-Latrec. They need to post the rest!
Its a quite nice documentary but there are some errors in it, like the birth date of the artist and the painting at 38:21 is in fact The Blue Room by his ex, the artist Suzanne Valadon
Some commenters seem to find Carole Guberman’s voice to be off-putting. While her manner of speech may sound unusual to select ears of today, it seems less an affectation and more her natural voice. I’d encourage us all to keep in mind that her contribution here, is not that of a Professional Narrator - but of an Art Historian/expert in her field.
Considering he wasn't able to form a long-lasting relationship with anyone, how can you from a medical standpoint be absolutely sure, that he contracted his STD from a specific woman? You can't really tell with 100% certainty and I can hardly believe that that apparent female representative of world's oldest profession was the only one he slept with, especially that his visit to Mont Martre wasn't a one-time occurrence.
I love Toulouse Lautrec. However I have zero sympathy for any man who catches a venereal disease from a prostitute. The Prostitute had no choice but to be a prostitute because she was not allowed to have a man's job. A man had many many choices. He even had the choice to help a prostitute in a different way than to take advantage of her dire situation.
Absolutley! Why were all this late 19th century French artist + van Gogh such brothel regulars anyway?! Was it some rite of passage?! It is quite gross tbh
I’m thrilled that I have a copy of one of his works, it’s the ambassadeurs, I didn’t know it till just know, I shrieked in disbelief, I didn’t know he painted that, I’m a huge fan of the movie, the one featuring Zsa Zsa Gabor. It’s a copy but I have it 🥹

One of my favorite artists and one of my muses during my years in Arts school.
Yes his art is superb and his life fascinating.
This is all very nice, but I really miss Waldemar.
I don’t!
I'd love to see Waldemar 's full 2 hour documentary in Toulouse-Latrec uploaded here

that was my first thought, where's Wally? And who the heck does this guy think he is?
@@davidflaneau2810 They always seem like they're droning on and on, as if under museum glass.
Very informative and well presented. Thank you.
Aw “La Belle Époque “ well rendered through the paintings au “Moulin Rouge & Montmartre. Great artiste. I enjoyed the report.

Lautrec was not born on Christmas eve 1864 .. He was born 24 Nov 1864 . That is a big error if you are using this doco for research
..se magnífic,..genial..
An ad every 1-5 min.! Pa-lease!
The narrator using "Lautrec" as the artist's surname is incorrect. It was (technically) de Latrouse-Lautrec. You know, like Camille Saint-Saenz.
During the late 1800s there was a deadly train derailment caused by Toulouse-Lautrec.
His name is actually Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.
Love his style AND I Hope he didn't infect too many women. So gnarly.
I'm sure glad we have antibiotics now!
PLEASE get rid of the background noise

He was born on Nov. 23 not Dec. 23.
Way too many commercials....

Nonsense... Utterly devoid of any factual basis.
Judging past society by today's standards makes you look ignorant.
Gaugain gave teenage girls diseases. They knew better.
@@margitwes6495 and that self-righteous tone adds to that impression immensely!
Carol Guberman, the art historian, was a poor presenter. She was practically whispering. Please use presenters who are able to speak.
C.G. perfectly intelligible.
She thinks it's sexy. It's not.
This old woman’s voice is screeching horrible sounds.
We need Waldemar handsome clear voice.
Why such crummy reproductions?
That womans voice sounds like a child its weird

@@Tweedle457Do you mean the movie “ Moulin Rouge “? I know that Zsa Zsa Gabor was in the first of the two movies.
